I love this place! They are always GUARANTEED to have BBQ, which is amazingly delicious. They open early for breakfast for yummy garlic rice with fried egg and choice of meat(longanesa, tosino). My only complaint is they only serve sinigang once a week :(

My coworker happened to mention this place which turned out to be a disappointment. Another friend and I were in the area for some shopping across the street and decided to check it out for ourselves. I must say I have had better turo-turo food that were better tasting with bigger portions. The place was rather small too and inconvenient if you opt to eat inside the place. Bottom line, if you want so so Filipino food, this is the place to go. I’d rather cook at home.

It is your average and typical Filipino«turo-turo» Restaurant. Nothing new about the taste of the food that i’ve tried here and other Filipino Restaurants of this kind. Overall the food is good but maybe they can offer new varieties of dishes.

Don’t go half hour before closing because they’re already closed. I don’t like places who do that!

The pirce is ok and sometimes they have really good food. The place is kind of small and hard to move around in. Wish they cut the fat out of some of their meat but hey some filipinos love their fat. They serve really good breakfast food. I go here once a week.

I went with my bf and we both were excited. We are Mexican but have been exposed to Filipino food from various Filipino friends of ours. The worker helping us was very friendly but wasn’t telling us the right thing. When I asked for what things were he just said pork, pork, beef, ect. I sampled a pork dish and when someone else asked what it was he then said it was pork and pork liver right as I was chewing. Then I just selected the beef with peanut sauce since it was safe. Eating it was just wrong. It turned out to be beef intestines and a lot of fat. I only ate the rice which smelled like nasty meat. This place doesn’t even deserve one star. When I was picking at my food an old man walked in with a big pig in a carton. The whole pig was exposed and he left it in the seat behind my bf. Then one of the workers walked up to it and started sawing its head off right behind him in full and clear view of me. This place is super small so it was just gross. This did not help my feelings for this place at all. Not to mention that when we left there was only a piece of thin white paper covering like half the pig(still on the table might I add). It’s not like I’m bashing in Filipino food, but I don’t like eating menudo or lengua or tripa from my culture so it would be nice to know what I was eating. We also tried the chicken adobu, it was bland and the meat tasted like pork and it was full of fat and bone chipping off in every bite. Just a horrible visit.

While we always have homemade Filipino food at home, as my father cooks food three times a day, i still have this craving of food from another kitchen. And this store is one of many Filipino stores near my area, so i come here often. Honestly, i like their menus, they’re authentic; the oiliness, the saltiness, the spiciness, etcetera etcetera. I am just curious about the behind the scene happenings. I am referring to how they cook the food, if they reheat or recycle the food, or are they freshly cooked? Who cares? I care, um-mm, not really. As long as it doesn’t kill me, or make me ill, it’s okay as long as it taste fabulous.

I stumbled on this place through Unilocal and I am glad I did. I come here for my Filipino fix when I need to grab lunch. It’s conveniently located a block away from work. The food is authentic and tasty. It may not be exactly like mom’s but it sure is good enough for me since I don’t get Filipino food often. Just a week ago my coworker ordered some food for our holiday potluck. The pancit, lumpia and sisig were all very good. The sisig is one of the best I’ve tasted. It wasn’t too greasy, the pork was crunchy and had the right amount of vinegar. This is my new go-to place if I ever need Filipino food. I will be back!

I don’t know what the deal is with filipino food, but its honestly not as best as your own mom’s cooking. I just think that different chains have their own unique way of cooking the food, but because we expect it to taste so much better than we’re used to, we’re severely disappointed. However, I have to say, for being a white washed flipino, even their bbq needed more flavoring and taste. It honestly was a big clump of pepper, that wasn’t even moist. Their rice was hardening and their lechon kiwali, which I love and know I will die younger, was not appetizing. Even if there were heat lamps and steam from below, it still was cold. The only thing that I did like was the soup… with a few piece of lettuce. The nalaga kind, if you know my drift. It’s not the first place I’d want to go to for filipino food, but I guess you have to come across a share to know where you want, and for me, its GOLDILOCKS! What confused me was that even if it was a filipino place, they didn’t play filipino music… O. and they’re stingy about their to go boxes. The guy had to look at my food and decide which box to give me, but because my mom was filipino and she just wanted the big one, he gave it to her.

I found this place a couple of months back. I was very excited to find a filipino place around my area. Foods here are delicious. However, the female owner lacks in customer service. Whenever I order Care-care she always manage to forget the shrimp paste and put utensils. I mean cmon! how are you going to plastic my food to go, tie it and give it to me and forget to include my fork and spoon? Other than that good food but little things like that makes this place average.

I wish there was rating system with different categories so I’ll do my own. 1)(2 stars) Appearance and Service — It looks clean enough, but where they fall short here is the NOTSOFRIENDLY woman. It was almost like we were bothering her. She was a little push, had a sour look on her face and wanted us to pay and get out. 2) Food — I ordered over $ 100 worth of food. (2 Stars) ½ tray of Pancit — it had chicken in it, but at times we had to search for it. it was tasty enough. (4 Stars) container of pork/squid in coconut curry sauce. This had a good spice to it and was very good. (2 Stars) ½ tray Rice — It tasted fine… rice is rice… but it was $ 15. Can you imagine that? DON’T ORDER catered rice. Way too expensive here. (5 stars) 20 Chicken BBQ Skewers — They are awesome here. I don’t like the women, but I really, really like these chicken sticks. (5 stars) 20 pieces of Turon — Plantains and stick sweet jackfruit in an eggroll wrapper, coated in sugar and fried. It’s crunchy, it’s yummy, it’s sweet, it’s sticky… AWESOMEGOODNESS! When I was leaving, I asked for napkins, about 10 to 15 paper plates and forks. The lady had the SOURLOOKAGAIN… Like she had to go to the bathroom… gave me about 4 napkins and said, «I’m sorry sir, but we don’t give plates out for catered items.» I was appalled… I may go and try them out again, but the lady really needs to learn better customer service skills.

seriously lady… im trying to order food and there is no one in line and you still keep yapping away with the customer who already has their food and is eating already. do you want business or not? if i wasnt so hungry i would have just walked out and driven across the street. anyway… its kinda pricey. a 2 item combo(w/a fish item) cost $ 10… so not worth it. the bangus tasted kinda old. it was super dry and hard to eat. i also got the sisig .a bit too oily and really hard to chew. if im craving filipino food for lunch… i’d rather just go home and cook… not recommended at all. yuck

This place isn’t easy to find(it’s by the smart and final plaza on knott and katella) but was worth the trip. It’s clean and cafeteria style. I had a single dis combo of sisig(spiced and minced fried pork) and white rice for $ 4.95+tax. I also ordered a menudo small order to go. Overall, I was happy with the food. It’s a good value and tasting filipino restaurant!

Found this place when I was searching for pinoy food while I was on jury duty. I had the 2-item combo of kare-kare and BBQ pork skewers… delicious and big portions. There’s very limited seating inside. I had a massive craving for fried banana eggroll(turon) after seeing the pic posted here on Unilocal.Unfortunately, that day’s batch of turon wasn’t impressive… not enough sticky sweet goodness on the outside and it had flavor of used cooking oil. Came back the next day and had laing(taro leaves cooked in coconut milk) and grilled pork belly… both yum! The turon was delightful this time around. Will definitely be coming back here when I’m in the area!

Me and the wife stayed in Anaheim for a Disneyland weekend and I had a craving for some filipino food. This was a small place, but I must say the food here was pretty good. I went there for breakfast, and I wished we had stayed longer so I could have more of the ulam!

Kanto is located on the corner of Katella & Knott. Friendly servers are talkative, suggesting their main dishes, and they even take the initiative to go into the kitchen to grab what’s freshly made. We almost bought everything the server suggested, because it looked and sounded legit. Bottom line: Come here if you want some freshly cooked Filipino food! If you don’t know what to get, I suggest you try the BBQ Chicken or Pork with rice and Pancit. They have sago, made to order halo-halo, and coconut juice by the can. For dessert, get the turon(banana egg roll with jackfruit). It’s sooo addictive! The outside is perfectly sweet and crunchy. If you’re into the more authentic dishes get the mongo, fried bangus, sisig, pinakbet, paksiw, kare-kare, etc. Do not attempt to bring large groups here because I think the maximum seating capacity is about only 8!

Kainan Sa Kanto(eatery at the corner) Family owned filipino restaurant… I love places like this. I usually come here for breakfast. Garlic rice, tapa or tocino and 2 eggs over easy. Can’t go wrong with that! For lunch I usually get the BBQ(chicken or pork) sticks, Bicol Express(spicy seafood dish), Laing(pinoy spinach), ahhhh too many to list… everything is tasty! By the way… they are not cash only at this location(not like Lakewood)…you can use your debit/credit card! Great if you want to overeat and not worry if you have enough dough!
