I like Capriccio. My favorite dish to order is the Capriccio salad which comes with crab meat and pita bread. This place is best to visit in the spring or summer when you want to enjoy the weather and sit outside.

Extremely pricey spot. Paid $ 50+ for two salads and sparkling water. The tap water is so awful I couldn’t stand to drink it. I have tried to go here on 3 different occasions hoping that I would love it from the last visit but each time I’m reminded on why I don’t go back often. Nice outdoor spot however. So many other places I would choose over this place.

It has nice outdoor seating, and the food is good, but there are better Italian restaurants in Stamford. It is a little too pricey for the quality of food as well.

Poor service, the kitchen staff is lazy, frankly I’m very disappointed. I ordered a tiramisu, and I received a very small sweet square, with some spray cream on the sides. If I pay $ 6.50 for this crap, better not to eat. I do not recommend.

Really good food, nice patio area outside, they just need to work on their service. It’s very slow especially during the warm months when the outside seating is open. If that could be improved, then this rating would go up!

Probably our favorite restaurant in Stamford. Simple fresh Italian food which is not exorbitant. Some of the appetizers can be oily at times. But the pizza and pastas are spot on We have traveled significantly through Italy and lived in Europe for a long time and this place reproduces flavors No massive portions overloaded with mediocre cheese here and some awesome cocktails The only thing I can grudge them on is inconsistent service. When Giovanni is around they’re attentive but when he isn’t the service can be bad

good place to have Italian food on road side. Outdoor sitting is one of the main attraction. Food selection is good, better than lucky’s next door. And brunch hrs are better than Lucky’s(this is 2nd hint for Lucky;s to make some changes) I liked everything that I ordered, specially zucchini chips(a must try). I will say, food is 4.5*. I still gave 4, because of service. It was late, i could see my drink on bar table 5 min before server picked it up and served. In open setting, bad service becomes more obvious. my experiences(breakfast, brunch, dinner) with this place were good. Drinks are good too :), 5* to bartender.

I go to Capriccios all the time, in fact I was there today for brunch. Best omelette I’ve had in soooo long! We also order through seamless all the time. It’s always so fresh. I’ve yet to have a bad experience there in over 4 years. Cheers to great food, drinks and hospitality!

I hadn’t been here since my last review in 2011. So I thought, why not give it another chance? Wrong. Service is still SO bad, we waited 28min for water and coffee that never came. We got up and left. 6 people were on staff and there was just ONE other table that was eating. Explain how this is possible? If I can give ½ star, I would. Don’t bother giving this place«a chance.»

Quality Italian food that finally offers #GlutenFree Pasta #GlutenMeFree love it and especially $ 5 wine selection. However do not eat outside because you will have other friendly wings enjoying your food with you! Great Customer service but strange that the ladies room is in the hallway outside.

Great food! Great outside seating in good weather. Simple Italian food with an authentic European flair. The owner is usually present making sure things are good. Perfect place to sit on a mild evening watching the hub bub of downtown Stamford go by.

The food was absolutely AMAZING! The service was excellent as well. Everyone was extremely kind and attentive. We came in a large group of 10 and every person was more than pleased with their food. I ordered the Di Parma Bruschetta pizza and it was phenomenal!!! I wish I lived closer because this place is delicious! Plus the outside seating is perfect on a summer night.

I’ve returned to Capriccio a few times since I posted my negative review and they seem to have worked out the kinks. I’m so glad :)

Capriccio can be hit or miss. We came one time around 4ish on a Friday, before the dinner rush, and we enjoyed our experience. The service could have been better, was a little on the slow side. I will mention towards the end of our meal we had a different waiter and his energy and attitude was much better and he was very attentive– I wish we had him the entire time, he really went out of his way to take care of us. Cut to last night, we arrived around 6 and were able to secure a table without a wait. It was very busy and it didn’t help we had our child who was on the verge of a meltdown. It took about 10 minutes before we placed our order and received our drinks. I noticed some tables received bread and others didn’t. I assumed we didn’t because we had placed an order for an appetizer, and I didn’t make a big deal out of it until about 20 minutes passed by with no appetizer in sight and the table next to ours received their appetizer(they ordered after we did). Annoyed and with a very hungry child I had to request some bread from one of the servers going by– when we got the bread it was piping hot(great!) but too hot to touch and no plates to put it on(not great!). We finally received our meal and realized the kitchen completely forgot about our appetizer(or gave our order to someone else). Overall, we will probably return just not if it looks like they are too busy. The zucchini chips are my go-to, so delicious! Perfect appetizer to split while sipping on a nice glass of wine. The peach sangria I had was watered down, probably would not order it again. The penne a la vodka was alright although the sauce has a little bit of spice to it.

I have been going to this place for years. We love it because of the location and the price and also the thin pizzas. They service is usually decent, can be on the slower side but that is ok as the environment is nice. I normally would give this a overall rating of a 4 but lately we have been disappointed with them on all fronts. On our last trip this Saturday, the waitress was terriblly slow, eventually I had to get up and ask for everything from napkins to a take out box to ordering and last but not least paying the bill. The pizza was not at all like the usual thin pizza that we are used to with them. It was thick and not very good at all. I called the manager and asked him what happened to the thin normal pizza that we are used too. He told me, it depends on who is cooking it and that it wasn’t consistent. Its frustrating for a customer to not have consistancy from a restaurant that they are used to going to and frankly like going to. We will give them one more try and depending on that experience, keep going or stop. Overall speaking, there are better places around.

Maybe Lucky’s next door would have been the better choice? This place looks very cute and was definitely busy given the beautiful weather and the outdoor seating but the service was horrible. The two stars is for the decent calamari and bread basket. My friend and I ordered our food and drinks and waited a half hour to get the drinks and even longer for our food after being offered 3 different other drinks that we didn’t order and were for other tables. The waiters kept bringing by random food asking if we had ordered that and overall just very slow! When we finally got our salads they were very basic. So disappointing! I think they need better staff with the nice weather ahead.

Came here a few times with my best friend she loves it. They have great press paninis and service is very good, i love it in the summer bc you can eat al fresco looking forward to come back here in spring again. Food is very fresh and prices are good for down town Stamford.

This is a very reasonably priced, trendy restaurant in the heart of Stamford on Bedford street. In the summer their outdoor seating makes it the ideal brunch spot to soak in some rays, mimosas, and to fulfill your people watching needs. The food is a great value with most if their sandwiches ringing up at about $ 8 and large salads about $ 10 – 12 including proteins. Flat bread pizzas here are also reasonably priced and a popular item. The pasta here is fine but certainly not the best pasta in Stamford. Although it’s obviously not the same quality, their pasta usually costs about $ 14 – 16 which is a bump lower in price than places that make it fresh in house and charge $ 20 – 25. Other than their prime location and fabulous outdoor seating, there’s really nothing out of the ordinary or special about the food, drinks, or service at this place. As a resident of Stamford, it’s quick, cheap, centrally located and doesn’t have any major things wrong with it. So it’s very popular.

Service here was an absolute joke. Arrived at 10:15 the night before memorial day, which while late, we were far from the only people arriving at that time to eat. No one was at the outdoor hostess stand when we arrived so we had to hunt down someone to ask if we could get a table. We were told to choose any table we would like, and we did so. It then took an additional 10 minutes before we were even so much as acknowledged by another staff member. Once we were acknowledged, our server threw down the menus on the table and asked if we were ready to order drinks. Despite not even having had a chance to see the drink list less the 2 seconds between her throwing the menus down and asking, we quickly scanned the menu and ordered a couple beers.(Spoiler: draught list pretty disappointing– Sam Summer about the best option available). Upon returning not more than 1 minute later she asked if we were ready to order dinner. We asked for a few more minutes and she was not seen again for another 20 or so. Once our server finally re-appeared we ordered the fried calamari as an app and each a «piadine»(flat sandwich). App took a while to come out and even longer for the plate to be cleared. Sandwiches also took a while and while not bad, were nothing special and absolutely not worth the piss poor service we had received. Our plates took about 15 minutes to be cleared and our server didn’t even ask if we wanted anything else/the check when doing so, so that took another 5+ minutes to flag her down again to get the check. Most restaurants will utter at least a «thank you» but we received none of that. It was a pretty big relief to finally sign the receipt so we could GTFO. Total time for a dinner consisting of fried calamari and 2 sandwiches: 1 hour, 50 minutes. There is a review from another Unilocaler from 2012 complaining about servers socializing with friends and horsing around with each other while customers waited, and a pretty pathetic response from the business that they«can’t necessarily do anything about that». I can assure you that Capriccio management was not joking when they said that as now nearly 2 years later the same thing is still going on. While we waited for our server’s attention we frequently noticed her extremely distracted while socializing with friends and horsing around with other employees. The great outdoor seating area and mediocre food does not even come close to making up for the complete lack of service at Capriccio Café. The entire experience was so frustrating that I really hope I never find myself at this restaurant again.
