Went out of our way to try this restaurant yesterday. Showed up(Sunday 5÷3÷2015) at around 1:45 and the doors were locked, no lights, no sign on the door. I guess they just decided not to be open. I checked ahead of time that they are open on Sunday’s until 3.

Would rate lower of I could… The absolute worse dining experience I’ve had in my life. Soup was Luke warm, lettuce in the salad had an expired taste to it, dishes and glasses were dirty as well. Ordered 3 orders of sushi only got two of what I ordered plus the sushi menu that was given had previously been filled out. Waited over 45 minutes and still no food, another table that came in 10 minutes after we had been sat had just gotten there food before us and our«chef» still hadn’t came to our table, we subsequently asked for the check and while we were walking out after paying he finally came to the table… The only bright side to the experience was our waitress who was in disgust over what was going on and continuously kept apologizing for what was happening, will never consider this restaurant ever again and btw they wernt busy at all which makes it even worse.

Went here on New Year’s day, based on AH facebook recommendations. We arrived at opening time(4 of us), and were the only ones in the place. Took about 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order, another 10 minutes to get the drinks(beer and tea), and finally the chef came out about 20 minutes after that. After ordering steamed rice(instead of fried), was told that they were out of steamed rice(WTF?) Then, during dinner, was told they were out of onions(which go in the fried rice AND the vegetables). Chef was uninspired and simply going through the motions(yawn). I normally always go to Kobe across the street, I wish I had this time as well. Only two other people came in while we were there(over 2 hours due to service), now I know why. How do you run out of steamed rice and onions when there is a Giant food store 25 yards away??? Very disappointed, will not be back.

Sushi was ok. Service and experience –terrible! Owner manager was arguing with an off shift staff member about getting her check.(This should gave been handled in the back of the office.) All at the sushi bar where my teen daughter and I were sitting. It was very uncomfortable. Took the man 40 minutes to make 4 rolls and we’re we the only customers in the place until about 10 minutes before we left. Left overcharged and disappointed.

Came for a nice lunch with my husband. The staff was friendly and accommodating, helping us with our choices. The food was excellent! Hubby had chicken teriyaki, I had the ribeye. Great portions of meat, but the veggies were out of this world! We will definitely be back!

A friend of mine suggested that we go to Taka. She explained to me that it was similar to Kobe’s. So we went for it. The food is great. The cook was very friendly. Our waitress however was horrible. That’s a big no no for me!

Paul knows Sushi. I wish more people would give him a try. Sorta tucked out of the way but worth it. We have had all the sushi Kamikaze and Kani Su are our favorites. Give him a try. You won’t regret it.

We came back for dinner and the sushi was excellent. I have also been back for lunch once or twice since my original review and I believe the sushi has improved. The owner was very polite and made some delicious rolls. Plus they have a bento box lunch special which is very tasty and affordable. I would give this place a 3.5 to 4 star rating.

Came here for an early dinner on a Monday and sat at the sushi bar. The place was not busy at all, so it made me a little skeptical about eating raw fish here. I decided to go against my intuition and ordered a few rolls. The chef making the sushi was meticulous with every dish he prepared. The quality of the rolls I ordered were great! Spicy tuna, Tako nigiri, and a rainbow roll. Sushi: Tightly rolled, fish was fresh, and well displayed on the dish. 5 stars Hot tea: tasted like seaweed was added to it, I was not a fan. 1 stars Service: friendly staff constantly checking on us and refilling our drinks 5 Stars I would return here and recommend this place to others.(except the HOTTEA)

Great Sushi. Not sure why but positive reviews don’t seem to get past Unilocal protocols. This place does it right.

Onion soup was good, service was not so good, sushi tasted off, calamari was just OK.

The sushi here is mediocre at best. The one waitress kept screwing up our order. They have like, 3 tables for hibachi and then a bar for the sushi. Not a sushi bar — like, a drink bar with raised seats, so it’s uncomfortable. I’m not sure what kind of vibe this place is going for. It’s dark like a den in the hibachi area, fairly well lit at the bar, and they had some home renovation show on the TV screen… like, do I really want to be watching that while eating out? O. o And the teapot was leaking… You can skip this place if you’re thinking about sushi.

We went there tonight. The sushi was fantastic. Our expectations weren’t high given other reviews but we were pleasantly surprised and will definitely return for sushi. The service was friendly, polite and competent. We watched a waiter take drink orders from a party of 9 without writing them down and serve them without asking who ordered what. Impressive. Our waitress was polite, friendly, and checked on us often to clear plates and refill drinks. They currently have a special for dinner for two, so we took advantage of it and ordered the steak, chicken and shrimp. Everything was great. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. If I had a nickel for every tough shrimp I’ve been served… The only things that could have been better were(1) the steak sauce could have been more flavorful and(2) the vegetables could have been cooked longer. The hibachi chef was talented and funny. We’ll definitely go back.

Taka is a new restaurant that recently opened in Stafford, VA. Its a mini version of Beniihana’s if you’re familiar with that restaurant or is that only a West Coast restaurant. Anyways, being a visitor from the West Coast I really didn’t have high expectations. The servers were nice and we were seated right away. The prices we’re a bit high for such a small place but I guess you pay for the entertainment. The chef was funny but I wish he was more out going. The entertainment was always fun especially when he lit the stove top of fire, talk about HOTFLASH! haha Overall, the dinner was good and the company we were seated with were friendly. I think I’d have to check to this place out again when I come back to visit my best friend and her family and see how business is doing. If you are in the Stafford area, try this restaurant out.

We’ve enjoyed the food. Been there a number of times and decided we’d work our way down the list of various sushi pieces and try everything once. I do admit the sushi is a little slow at coming but I always see him working hard at them and to be quite honest, we’ve never been in a rush whenever we go there, so its never bothered us. We sit, order a drink or two, talk and then our time there ends with darn good sushi. I will say I am not a big fan of a citrusy sauce that he puts on the plate. My biggest criticism I have about the sushi itself is that though there is a fair selection of various sushi, the menu/selection is not overly adventurous. I’ve had the hibachi on several occassions and they’re fun and great. I’m half tempted not to post what I’m about to say, but their hibachi at lunchtime is the same amount as they give you at dinner time. And the cost is a lot less. DEFINATELY will get Hibachi for lunch again on a day I’m feeling overly greedy or need left-overs for dinner. The price overall is standard for a Hibachi place. The service with the waitresses may need a little help as far as attentiveness. But the way I figure, I give Taka a bit of slack because they are relatively new and are having a few growing pains, so that will take time. Overall, I thoroughly love and enjoy the place. Felt the sushi was better than the other more established one down the road whose name escapes me. Work out a few kinks, and I can easily see myself giving it 5 stars. I’m sorry a few people had a less than desireable experience and would love to see the ratings come up because we enjoy it. One advantage I suppose we’ve also had is that we go during non-peak hours. The tv station is ALWAYS on HGTV, which doesn’t bother me one bit. Strangely enough, it is always on House Hunters(one of my favorite shows) so its an even bigger boon! :-) In regards to the survey questions, my response would be the same for most hibachi/sushi places — they are great for kids if one is there for hibachi. Not as great if going there for sushi. This is even more so with Taka because they do not have any regular tables. It is hibachi or sushi bar — fine by me. Gave hubby and I a date-night away from the munchkin.

Terrible sushi. Have lived in Japan. Sushi at even fast food places like Atom Boy are better than ones at Taka. Spider roll was not freshly cooked. Size of their rolls does not make up for quality. They do not serve proper sushi soy sauce, but regular soy sauce for fried rice. Service was very slow. Please go else where if you wish quality sushi.
