Try Wine

As anyone that has been reading my reviews I am really trying to reserve 5 stars to the exceptional. Well just for the sheer fun we had in this place I had to go 5. Once you get ‘trained’ on how it works by giving them a CC, getting a card key for the machines then picking the different pours you were off to the races! It is a small place but as others have noted well decorated and IMO a great vibe. I liked how the staff got you up to speed then left you to trying the wines you wanted. If you had questions they were knowledgeable and quick to help though. You have to pay attention to what you are buying since you have a card that lets you get anything you want but you don’t really know how much you are running up the tab. It was like on the cruise ship when you get the bill under the door on the last day. surprise !! It is great to get the .5 ounce pour to get a taste of the wine but I find that getting more and letting it breath a little is better. It would be nice if you could bring your own glass or maybe they offer a ‘club’ where you get a member glass. I also like the idea of ready the menu while I sit the wine so I can have some ideas of what I want next. They only had finger food offers of a meat & cheese tray and gourmet popcorn. We didn’t try either but we will next time. We are already planning a trip back.

I really enjoyed Try Wine from the wine (of course) to the light fare they offered. I thought the concept is brilliant allowing the customers to have an opportunity to taste test without spending a lot of money. Blending the concept in with the décor made it for a nice 1 to 2 hour experience. I would definitely recommend this wine bar to any tourist or local.

88 wune on tap, and you can try before you buy a hole glass. It is so nice. Ill be back.

Great wine bar with your own ‘on demand’ card allowing pours of your choice from low to extremely refined selections. This place is a winner, and will do great in Saint Petersburg.
Great place for locals and tourists alike.

Stopped here on my bike, wasn’t really dressed to be out. I was so impressed! Oliver brought me out a sample of a Bordeaux after I described what I liked and I didn’t leave for 2 hours! I have to go back when I have «normal» attire and don’t have my bike with me! I told him I could go bankrupt from this place! I plan to be a regular!

This is a must see place. Amazing wines! The staff is friendly and passionate about wine. I love this place. I just tasted a 600 bottle of wine!

If you are looking for a place to try and taste 50+ wines at once, this is it. A little pretentious and sort of odd, I wasn’t personally a fan of the vibe here. The owners or builders did a great job with design. It’s modern and it attempts to be «low key» with wood paneling for walls. Maybe we just went at a weird time, but I sort of felt like I was in a wine museum and that I should be very quiet unless I had a LOT of money. I probably won’t go back unless I have a friend who is uppity about wines and just needs to try them or if I have a friend who wants to get plastered with wine rather than anything else.
Bottom line: Go here if you are looking to spend money on wine and pretend you have made it in the world. I’d rather pick a low key brewery myself.

My boyfriend and I love this place! It’s a great place to try lots of different wines, and then pick your favorite to have a full glass. The concept is very innovative, and you only spend as much as you want!
The great thing is too– you can take some of the bottles home too! Just ask! I’ve bought a couple of bottles to bring home because they were just so delicious!
You HAVE to try the popcorn. I never thought popcorn to be a good pairing with wine, but oh is it! My favorites are the Truffled Honey Sea Salt and the Truffled Smokey Mountain Cheddar.
They also have other foods for purchase, including a variety cheese plate which is also VERY delicious. This is always our go to place when we want to have a drink, but don’t want to deal with the bar crowd.
This place is great for a date night, birthday, or just for fun!

Quaint wine bar downtown where you have a chance to try a $ 100+ bottle of wine for a fraction of the cost. Great idea! Nice place for a drink after work or before a movie or dinner at the Sundial. Will be back for more as their wine selection rotates.

A sophisticated tasting room with 20+ wines all available for sampling. It’s small size makes it impossible not to make friends and share which wines were your favorite. They also serve delicious meat and cheese plates (Charcuterie) with an array of cheese options including a Mango and Ginger one we couldn’t get enough of.

Awesome! Delicious! The best of the worlds wines at our doorstep! Even Abacus! Rare for the Bay Area!

Great place to take a date or if you are showing people the wonders of St. Pete. Definitely a place to visit. It’s gorgeous and their staff is extremely knowledgeable of their selection.

This place is great! And the name says it all. Try Wine.
They have a pouring system (at different levels & price per pour) that allows you to try different wines. And once you find one that you like… they also sell by the bottle so you can take home.
My Fiancée & I have been here a hand full of times.
We also found that they have the BEST pricing on their bottles of wine that we’ve found anywhere.

Wonderful way to experience expensive wines on the cheap. Great place for a date! They charge by the mouthful, affording even the smallest budgets access to wines of the wealthy. Price isn’t always what determines a fine wine, and this is a wonderful way to educate yourself.

What a great concept! Try wine isn’t a large place, but they’ve done well with the small space that they have. The perimeter is lined with a wide variety of wines… on tap! If you want to try any of the wines, in exchange for a card (to start a tab), you are given a special card with a $ 50.00 limit and a wine glass. You’re free to wonder around trying all of the wines that you’d like. Each wine on tap offers 3 different pour options. A 1oz taste, then two larger oz pours… I think it was 4oz & 6oz, but don’t quote me on that… I drank a lot of wine, so the details are fuzzy. ;-)
In addition to the selection of wines, they also have a small menu, which includes Viktoria Richards chocolates, coffee, cheese and meat appetizer selections.

My husband and I have been twice, it’s great to try ALL the different varieties! Also get a couple of the chocolates for 2 $ each. Knowledgable and friendly staff in great location downtown.

LOVE this place! The owners did a fantastic job. The décor is raw and unique and the wine is great! The gentleman working when I was there (may be part owner, owner?)
He was very knowledgeable about the wines on pour, asked for my preferences, and then suggested wines that would match my palette preferences. And he did a great job! Many good wines here at affordable prices. They even serve free mixed nuts. It looks like they may also serve cheese plates and possibly other small dishes.
They give you a wine card to hold onto and you just load it up with enough funds to cover your wine samples, ranging from a few cents to $ 20 or so. I would recommend putting more money on your card than you think you will use. You will have so much fun just trying the different wines.

Geek alert. I love wine. And I study it. So I was especially happy that the owners of Try Wine eschewed the typical darkened coziness of a wine bar for an entirely different experience. And it works, btw, as this is no ordinary wine shoppe. It is a wine-​tasting classroom and exhibit in one.
I was able to sample mid-​range and premium wines side by side. (Even some super premium options, too, like a 1968 Port.) The ample natural light allowed me appreciate the color of the wines. And temperature-​controlled dispensers assured that I didn’t get a warm, sluggish red or an icy, tasteless white.
I’ve been here on my own and with a group. Both times the management has been gracious and attentive.
