I went to at least 5 wedding dress boutiques while looking for my dress but The Dressing room was BY FAR the best experience and had the best selection of dresses. The Dressing Room was unique because Judy (the wonderful owner) was so honest, helpful and fun! It is an intimate experience and while the boutique is small, the SELECTION of styles is LARGE. The Dressing Room carries a variety of gowns which was a relief since every other place I went seemed to have the same dresses. I use Unilocal often but this is my first ever Unilocal review! I would HIGHLY recommend visiting The Dressing Room while on your hunt for the perfect gown.

Initially, the thought of shopping for a wedding dress was incredibly overwhelming and I feared I would never find something in my budget or something I would love that would fit me properly without hundreds of dollars of alterations. I am 6’0 and not a size 2.
When a dear friend told me to try The Dressing Room, I had my doubts. The store is so gorgeous and intimate– I never believed I could afford something in such a beautiful place. But I went. I met Judy.
When you first meet Judy, you just know she is a woman who knows what she is talking about. She was meant to own a beautiful bridal shop. She was meant to make brides feel beautiful and special. She is a presence… a warm and supportive presence. She is open minded, but offers wonderfully sound advice. She never scoffed at my humble budget (many shops had) or my ideas.
She pulled several dresses for me to try and they were all beautiful. The very last one I tried on was it. I never felt so beautiful. Judy shared in my joy and was as excited as I was when I found The Dress. I never once felt pressured to make a decision. Judy let me have all the time I wanted… but when you know– you know! Did I mention I was under-​budget?! Simply incredible.
Then came the time for alterations and I met the incomparable Hugh. A man who knows his way around a wedding dress! Hugh has a gift. He was able to customize my dress perfectly to fit my body. He does not charge enough. When you work with Hugh, you feel like the only bride with the only wedding dress on the planet. He is a genius and was able to patiently listen to all of my concerns and questions and made my dress even more special.
Judy and Hugh are a dream team and you must visit The Dressing Room. I am so glad I did and will forever have the perfect memories of the perfect dress-​buying experience. Thank you Judy and Hugh!

I loved my experience at The Dressing Room! First of all, Judy is wonderful. From when I arrived the first day until my very last fitting, Judy gave me all of her attention. Her high-​fashion attention to detail is what really makes The Dressing Room special. Judy really listened to what I was looking for and helped me pick out my perfect dress.
On to the fittings — Hugh was wonderful. He commits to stay within a $ 200 alterations budget and I had an impressive 4 fittings. My wedding photographer kept commenting that she loved the fit of my dress and that she could tell that it was altered to fit just right.
I would highly recommend The Dressing Room to any bride who is looking for a small shop that will truly make your dress a priority. Thanks so much to Judy and Hugh for making my wedding dress shopping and alterations experience unforgettable!

Yikes. I give the selection and the prices 4 – 5 stars, but I’m going to have to give The Dressing Room 3 stars for Judy’s attitude.
First, the pros: The Dressing Room is by appointment only, so you will get the undivided attention of Judy, the owner. She really knows her stuff. She put me into a great gown that was almost the one I ended up buying. They also have a wonderful system for alterations, where it’s a flat $ 200 fee for anything that needs to be done. Finally, the store itself is adorable and really makes you feel like a princess.
The cons: I did NOT love Judy’s «New York» attitude. I get that it’s her schtick. But there’s a time and a place for IN YOUR FACE personality, and I don’t feel like bridal gown shopping is it. She would be hilarious to watch on TV. And things might have gone better if I had been warned in advance to expect a certain level of… theatrics.
For example, we got there and she was asking me about the venue, formality level, etc, and I offered to show her the pictures of dresses that I liked. She was unhappy about that, but made a big show of looking at them to appease me. So, she looked at the dresses, looks over her glasses at me and goes, «And WHAT was your budget?» Then threw (!!!) the pictures back at me and slumped back in her chair. «You gotta be kidding me. These dresses are nowhere NEAR that!» I was quite taken aback by her behavior. I wasn’t expecting her to have these exact dresses, and I didn’t check the prices of them first. I just brought them in because every other bridal consultant likes it when you bring ideas of what you’re looking for. Nobody has ever complained that I was giving them a direction to go in. It really made me feel bad about myself, which isn’t how you want to start a bridal appointment.
Towards the end of the appointment, things had gotten better and I was in a dress I really liked. We were talking about how Judy should have her own reality TV show, and she says to my sister, «Yeah! And you could be on it!» I assumed she was going to say something flattering, like «as a model!» But instead, she tells my sister (who’s sensitive about her weight): «You could be on the show as my body guard!» Yikes. Her body guard? Pro tip, Judy: try not to insult the maid of honor while the bride is deciding whether or not to buy a dress from you.
Anyway. It’s worth a trip. She has a small, but interesting selection. And she’s very funny. Just be warned that it’s not going to be the flowers and champagne experience that you might have had at other places.

Judy is the best!

Judy was absolutely amazing. I went in as an overwhelmed, clueless, indecisive girl trying on dresses but came out of The Dressing Room an informed, decisive, excited bride. Her personality was refreshing and exactly what I needed. Although I didn’t walk out with my dress YET, I will definitely be back… not because I’m pressured to — but because I WANT to and will recommend her to everyone else. Must have an appointment, but I was lucky the store was empty when I called and she got me right in.
Her prices are awesome compared to other prices I’ve seen. And their tailor will make all alterations for no more than 200.

While it’s hard as a bride to be cool, calm and collect closer to The Big Day, a little niceness goes a LONG way at the time you’re looking for your wedding dress. While I was on a wedding vendor spree on a visit home, I tried making an appointment here on a free day on Sunday. While I was initially told the store doesn’t open Sundays, the lady was nice enough to sympathize with me and open the store that Sunday just for me.
A great dress boutique for those who hates aggressive bridal shops like I do. While the store does carry wedding dresses, it mostly carries colorful bridesmaid and mother of the bride/​groom dresses. No worries though — most of the dresses come in the ivory or white appropriate for any bride. If you’re looking for a simple yet unique and elegant wedding dress, this is a must-​go place.
One of the few (if not the only) dress boutique in Florida to carry Jenny Yoo and Thread, the two designers I was looking into for that perfect dress. While I fell in love with a Jenny Yoo strapless with convertible obi-​like train construction, I chose a beautiful layered chiffon Thread Annabelle dress in Ivory. For what I paid for, I’d definitely take a unique dress of quality construction over mass-​produced David’s Bridal monstrosities anyday.
Besides being nice enough to open the store when it’s usually not open, the service Judith (the owner who helped me out) was spectacular. She was very helpful in ordering my dress and having it delivered to me up in DC, and her attention to detail was IMPECCABLE. From wrapping my necklace in pink tissue paper when I had to take it off to try dresses to the cute mints she included in the package my dress was delivered in, she is most definitely on top of things.
