Yes. What a great concept and dynamite food. A+ for the brown rice option too. Both staff and food are top notch.

Pros –customizable –vegan and vegetarian friendly — cheap sake — Neptune mix is yum Cons — as expensive(or more) then a high quality sushi place with trained sushi chefs — wait can be super long — rolls can be very poorly rolled unless you get that one really good guy(if you go here often you know who I’m talking about) Overall, if you want a quick take out sushi that you can customize and nothing else is open: go here. If you are looking for high quality or to save your money on sushi, look elsewhere. Basically it’s fast food sushi. Love the concept, needs some ironing out.

Love this place! Food is great and the staff rocks! They have just hired a classically trained sushi chef to manage the food. Look at this beautiful roll. It was only $ 8.00!!! Wow! This place continues to amaze me every time I come here.

Right in the middle of it all in St Pete, Rollbotto does sushi well. My wife and I stopped by while in the area and tried the Core Capacitor, Torpedo Claw and Fish & Chips rolls with a side of Edamame. We both agreed that the Core Capacitor was the best. Lots of flavor and the Lava Mix on top was a nice touch. I enjoyed the Torpedo Claw while she enjoyed the Fish & Chips. I really liked the cream cheese and avocado mix in the Torpedo. The Fish & Chips was good but not as flavorable as the other two. The edamame was ok but not as good as others we’ve tried. The atmosphere was nice. You order the food in a line similar to Chipotle but with sushi fare instead. The employees were nice and helpful. The TVs around the place were playing different sporting events going on that evening. The beer selection is nothing special and j didn’t look at the other alcoholic drinks available. Overall, we enjoyed the restaurant. Would return again if I was ever in the area again.

Domo arigato, Mr. Rollbotto. This is a casual restaurant with industrial style modern architecuture and an assembly line where you customize your sushi rolls including with fun ingredients like sweet potato fries. I liked it a lot. Fun. Different. And the ingredients were fresh. Friendly service. You can choose brown rice. You choose what goes in your roll. The toppings. The sauces. Your beverages(sake?). Then you sit and eat. Not the most comfy seating and the ginger and miso sauces were a lil sweet. But the prices were fair, the service efficient, and I very much enjoyed the experience. I’m giving Rollbotto a thumbs up. I liked having sweet potato fries in my rolls and the avocado was super fresh and yummytastic. They also have games you can play. Jenga. Quiz game. etc. We went in on the street side and when we exited out the back we found ourselved by Ale and Witch and the courtyard where Sab Café and other spots on that courtyard area of St. Pete. If you’re a Facebooker check out their feed and like their oage. It’s a robot themed and humorous. 10110011000110100

I really like this place. It is really cool and eclectic. I wish they had a bigger sushi menu but if you want quick and good sushi this is the place to go to.

I was craving sushi on the way home from work and stopped in for a quick bite. I’d consider this a fast casual restaurant concept… you can choose a «pre-programmed“specialty roll or you can create your own. I decided on the Ten Megabyte Roll and the Tokyo Tuber. The sushi was good. Not the best I’ve ever had, but the fish was fresh and you can’t beat the value(the two rolls plus drink cost me less than $ 15). The location is right downtown, with easy access to shops and entertainment. I’ll definitely visit again.

— Short Synopsis — Amazing concept: Creating your own sushi roll by choosing which ingredients go in(like Subway or Chipotle for sushi); however, the sushi/ingredients is nothing special to note. In other words, it is a fun creation/customization experience with okay ingredients/sushi. — Summary — After watching Inside Out at Sun Dial next door, I decided to come to here for some relatively cheaper grub compared to other places in the area. The interior of the restaurant has a modern look to it. I did not really get that Japanese vibe, but they were probably going for a more modern ambiance. Unfortunately, I enjoy my sushi in a somewhat Japanese influenced ambiance. Regardless, the concept of creating your own sushi roll seems like an idea that should be as common as Subway and Chipotle, but this is my first experience with it and I love sushi. Anyways, you are able to watch your sushi roll being put together and can choose to customize what goes in it, much like Subway or Chipotle. Definitely not the best sushi I have had, as the quality of the ingredients was not great; however, I did enjoy being able to select each ingredient that went in my roll. The overall experience was fun and enjoyable. The customization can provide novelty and different creations for repeat visits, which is a plus. I liked the smoke salmon and unagi(eel) combo for the meats. I would recommend coming here to try sushi roll customization at least once. On a side note, eating here easily be done before or after watching a movie at Sun Dial Muvico. A great use of the parking garage that you already used for the movie. They also do 1 hour validation at the Plaza Tower Parking Garage when there are no special downtown events going on.

If you are into sushi with frills maybe this isn’t your kind of place. The way I see and taste their sushi is fresh and straight to the point. People are getting fancy and creative these days with sushi and it annoys me. It ruins the integrity of the food. If you love eel sauce, mayo, and all that jazz you can still get it but it’s not going to overload your taste buds. The way you order you can go the easier route and pick what’s on the menu… OR… if you like to get what you want exactly SUBWAY style… go the more complicated route. You can start by picking the type of rice you want — white, brown, or rice paper. If you are doing low carb you can have what ever you want on top of bed of salad! Then you pick the proteins, texture, flavor… Nice place if you want to grab something quick, healthy, and fresh.

This is not sushi. Machines rolling the food, and a subway style preparation, come on. Such a perfect location too. This is my least favorite sushi place, i honestly do not think rollbotto when i want sushi. Only good things in my opinion are the location, the ginger is excellent and the wasabi is great.

First time here, decent sushi and fast service… Nice laid back concept with a splash of Asia-pop thrown in… Reminds me of something you’d see in NYC(think SoHo) but just on a little bigger scale. The rock n roll was drenched in a sweet sauce, a bit overpowering for my taste; the spicy tuna was average; sumo roll surprisingly better than the other two and that’s saying a lot as I’m not a big fan of cream cheese in sushi. Overall I’d recommend this place to others if they’re in the area and needed a quick fixin’ of sushi, but I’m still debating if it’s worth the drive from North St Pete’s area.

On a visit to family in the TB area, we were hanging out in St. Pete and walked in to Rollbotto when the mood for sushi struck. In NYC, we do have a ridiculous amount of sushi establishments(there’s a two block radius near me that has 7 sushi spots, I wish I was kidding). Rollbotto was different than what I had expected, but I liked the direction they took here. Rollbotto is definitely somewhat of a concept restaurant when it comes to sushi and it deserves credit for that. To call it the Subway of sushi is a bit demeaning; I don’t equate Subway with quality, but I think Rollbotto’s quality was on the money. There’s a roll I love to order in New York called the Boston Roll(I know, shut up), that didn’t have any analogue on their menu but I was able to put it together with their custom menu, with a slight difference(crab instead of shrimp). I actually liked it a bit more than how it usually comes out back home, and part of that is due to the freshness of the fish. It helps when you see the ingredients in front of you and it was pre-portioned in relatively small batches. So, all in all, a positive and laid-back experience. Cool staff, nice variety of options on your sushi and other non-sushi items, and a spacious dining space without waiter service, which can be refreshing. Also, the cold sake shots are a classy touch.

I gave my final try to Rollbotto Sushi and was positively surprised. Or maybe because I chose the right roll? Had bad experience with Rollbotto before as I think their sushi are very dry, too much rice… Was not eager to come back. However being in the area often and seeing Rollbotto almost every day I decided to give another try and ordered Japanese Bagel Sushi that I didn’t try before and sounded good(smoked salmon, cream cheese, cucumber, green onions and sesame seeds). This roll was not that dry(or maybe because of cream cheese), salmon was very tasty. I also like their Miso soup $ 2.09 and the fact that you can grab your own serving of soy sauce, ginger and wasabi — and it’s included in sushi price(because yes, I still think sushi are pretty pricy here!) I am happy I gave another try and I found one sushi that I like. Bottom line: I think these rolls are too expensive, too small and a bit dry — compared to other sushi restaurants around. And I can name a few, where the prices are lower, quality better and pieces bigger. For starters, I suggest try Hooks Sushi Bar just 4 min away.

I dunno much about sushi, but I know what I like. This place is the Subway of sushi parlors. You stand in a line and order ingredients you want while the roller boys and girls make it up on the spot. One roll is big enough for a meal, and they have quite a variety of condiments that you can specify to be put on for extra flavor. There is also unlimited help yourself ginger and wasabi. I never get enough ginger at other sushi places, so that’s a plus. There is a cheap quality beer menu, plus other Japanese type drinks. I like the spare modernistic interior. I always go here before the next door Ale & the Witch. Prices are about $ 7 for a roll, which is average. You won’t be overly full after your meal, which I appreciate. Americans eat too much.

I’ve been meaning to come here for a long time, and my fiancé and I just so happened to be in the area tonight. We got two orders of miso soup and two of their speciality rolls – one with tempura shrimp(the Crispy Critter) and one with Tuna(Sumo). They also offer«create your own rolls» because the sushi is made right in front of you. It’s kind of like the Subway of sushi, which is very cool. The miso soup was decent. It wasn’t the freshest or most flavorful I’ve ever had, but was still good. The sushi rolls were extremely fresh. They were packed full of flavor. I was blown away by the quality of the rolls, and again, the taste was great! For the two miso soups and two rolls, our total came to less than $ 20(we opted for water cups on the side). We were so happy to have tried this spot and will definitely be back!

Rollbotto is a great alternative for«fast» sushi. Located behind the new Sundial complex, Rollbotto is in an obscure business complex. Their concept is fast, made to order sushi. I think Brett N described it best as a chipotle like sushi place. Each roll comes with 10 pieces, instead of the usual 8 and will cost you about $ 7.50. Granted this is a little bit higher than the local sushi restaurant lunch specials, but the convenience factor plays into it. Not phenomenal sushi, but a good option if you’re on the run.
