My husband and I went to Tony’s for our first anniversary. This is a fine dining experience! We were so impressed by the level of service and the quality of the food. We shared shrimp in butter as a starter, then shared Tony’s salad as well. Both were very good. We each ordered a steak — I had a filet mignon in chianti sauce. It was really incredible — excellent quality steak. We shared a piece of chocolate cake for dessert, and then our waiter brought us an additional piece of cake as a celebration of our anniversary — complete with a candle and little«happy anniversary» card. Overall, it was an amazing experience and exactly what we would hope for on a very special occasion.

There is a reason this place has been around for decades. The classy atmosphere, table side preparation, and amazing food make for a memorable experience. All of the pastas are homemade. The owner personally thanks every table, demonstrating his passion for the business.

In town for the day and found this place on a quick search. Classic upscale dining! With all the new restaurant trends it’s refreshing to find a place where you’re still served with class and style. Every single staff person was attentive and catering. Great experience. Not to mention the great food.

Fabulous food, excellent service. I am definitely a fan, however, this is a place for special occasions and not regular dining. At least for my family! Atmosphere was a little«stuffy», but very personable wait staff, which by the way were all men. «Tony» himself came by our table and checked on us while we were dining. We will go again when we have another family celebration in St Louis.

Worth every penny. Classiest restaurant in STL for decades. Best primavera. Dover sole! Risotto! Very flexible on orders. Anthony’s bar is also very very nice.

Tony’s was the perfect choice for our late Valentine’s Day celebration. I had never experienced such attentive service. I could barely begin to move my chair when I needed to use the restroom that our waiter was behind me pulling it out from the table for me! The food was wonderful; I ordered the shrimp linguine while the Mr. enjoyed a perfectly seared peppercorn steak. Overall, this was a wonderful fine dining experience and easily the best restaurant we have been to in the St. Louis restaurant. Do expect a pricey bill! It is all worth it, though.

Elegant dining is fighting an uphill battle as the hipster nation continues to demand casual and flippant. I am waiting for the hipster nation to grow up and recognize the utter enjoyment of fine dining. Tony’s reminds me of my youth in NYC when people dressed up to go to the«city,» and entered a restaurant with class and sophistication. Run by the inimitable Vince, the restaurant works with a certain panache and flourish. Many dishes are prepared table side and the servers professional, but admittedly not warm. That’s Vince’s job, as he greets each diner personally. The kitchen prepares classic food, and everything tasted wonderful. My Agnolotti pasta was cooked al dente, enhanced by a beautiful cream sauce. The trio of veal was delicious, allowing me to taste three different preparations including the venerable piccata. The Swordfish Filet Mignon was delectable, good enough to eat for dessert. Desserts are«to die for,» with the ice cream pie taking first place. Tony’s award winning wine list takes you around the world, and they offer an incredible Amarone by the glass. That’s right, an Amarone by the glass with that unique raisin flavor exploding in your mouth. With one drink, two glasses of wine, and two desserts, our bill was less than $ 200.00. This meal would cost twice the amount in New York. Tony’s décor is upscale modern, with tasteful glass partitions dividing the large room helping to provide a sense of intimacy. Attractive abstract art provides color and interest. Somehow Vince is omnipresent and was there at the end to wish us well and help us catch a cab. He is the epitome of gracious. So, hipster nation, hurry up and mature so you can experience an unforgettable world of dining pleasure. Casual and flippant are disdainfully forgettable. Tony’s is forever.

We celebrated my Mother’s birthday last night and I believe it even exceeded my expectations(and btw I am not the easiest person to please being in the business)!! The service was impeccable from beginning to end and my Mom was treated like the Queen. I cannot say enough about the food!!! Mr. Bommarito promised my Mom the best fettuccine Alfredo she had eaten in her life and it was amazing!!! House made pasta cooked to perfection. The osso bucco was«oh so good» and the finishing table side so impressive. Champagne was timed perfectly and the Bananas Flambé wow!!! I am just so happy that this special night was spent at Tony’s!!!

2.5 stars. I had really high expectations for this place, but I don’t think I will be coming back. For the price that we paid for each dish, I would’ve expected phenomenal food but most of our dishes tasted mediocre. The scallops were good, but way too pricey for the amount that we got. The pasta dishes also fell flat. I’ve had better tasting pasta at Pastaria for half the price. We also felt that the staff treated us differently from everyone else in the restaurant. I think we were the only people under the age of 40 that night(my friends and I are in our early 20s) and they didn’t really pay as much attention to our table. That changed after we ordered a bottle of wine, but by then I was ready to wrap up our dinner and head home.

Hands down the best restaurant in Saint Louis, that’s for damn sure! I love places that cook the food infront of you, absolutely amazing display of elegance and class. If you’re down for an extremely expensive but classy meal Tony’s is the #1 place to visit this side of the Mississippi!!!

I’d been disappointed the last few times I was at Tony’s but they delivered big time last night. Food great. Service great. Hospitality great. It been a while since I’d been thinking about a meal 18 hours later. This is one of those times.

If I could give this restaurant 4.5 stars I would. The service was the best I have ever received in any restaurant and I would return due to that fact alone. The servers were attentive kind and polite. One of the waiters even noticed I was eating left handed and promptly came over to move my glasses to the other side. Just the attention to detail blew me away. Also, upon seating the owner came over and introduced himself and even answered questions about the menu. He was so polite, and at the end of my meal even left me with chocolates. Throughout my meal I noticed him chatting with a few of the tables and that personal touch is noticed and makes a difference. Now to the food. I really really wish I could say that my food was as high caliber as the service provided but unfortunately it was not. Don’t get me wrong everything was good, just didn’t blow me away. I got the Tonys salad, which was delicious but was a little heavy on the olive oil. For my entrée I ordered the raved about Lobster Apendale. This dish was good and had huge chunks of fresh lobster. The sauce while super tasty was way too over powering for a lobster dish. You completely lost that seafood flavor. There could have been pigeon under there for all I knew. The sauce however was super tasty. I also ordered a side of steamed spinach which was literally served in a pool of butter. Don’t get me wrong I am a big butter fan but when ordering steamed spinach from a nice restaurant that is not what I expect. In summary I would 100% return again, for the service and wine list, but wouldn’t go in expecting not a gourmet meal.

I came here with my fiancée with very high expectations and strong recommendations for Tony’s as one of the best restaurants in St. Louis. Perhaps that was my mistake. Yes, the food was good; but no, it was not excellent. Like Ed Y. below(9÷23÷2015), I found the service to be polite and professional, but«gimmicky». Down to course by course detail: Appetizers: Seared Scallops for my fiancée, and Carpaccio for me. Textures and doneness of the scallops were great, but the sauce obscured the taste of the scallops, and the carpaccio was too salty(this is going to become a common theme). No extraordinary flavors — it tastes like, and only like, what it looks like, which is good at casual or mid-tier restaurant, but disappointing at a place like Tony’s. EDIT: Apparently I forgot a course. It was just that unmemorable. Mains: Lobster Albanello for my fiancée, and Trio of Veals for me. Lobster cooked nicely, and veal was tender. But the sauce on the lobster was salty and obscured many of the other flavors, not that there were many flavors other than cream and salt, with some herb. The concept of the veal dish was nice, since I’m a sampler-type, but they were all quite salty. Very much edible, but still a disappointing dish. A decent home cook could replicate any of the flavors on the veal, and could probably enhance them. Not to mention the $ 34 price tag for what looked like 3 small cutlets of veal. Dessert: Shared an almond tart with caramel gelato. The concept and pairing were fine, but the flavors failed. The ice cream had a stingingly sweet finish; the tart tasted of stale almonds. Only the textures saved this plate. Value: Meh to poor, with special reminders of the Trio of Veal as above, and the Scallops. Service: Again, very friendly. They will try to give you a dining experience. I don’t remember any other place where the food was this disappointing, yet I still walked out fairly happy. Maybe someone with very different tastes than I will have a blast.

This is truly a top-notch St. Louis institution. After twelve years in St. Louis, I finally decided this was the place I wanted to eat this particular evening and I am 100% happy about my decision. Initially we could not locate the establishment. FYI, on Market heading East(looking at the Arch) it is between Broadway and Fourth with convenient and friendly Valet parking on your right(Old Courthouse is opposite, on left). For those who are directionally challenged like we were… Environment was comfortable and classy. Service was on point from Valet arrival to departure. Carlos was our Captain this night. Fabulous recommendations and unobtrusive service with his friendly and capable assistant(very sorry to not have caught his name). Started with a standard Negroni, done well, and my husbands dirty martini he called ‘perfect’. Food: one word… Delicious. Spinach and Avocado salad could use a little more avocado(but I’m biased coming from California) but really was quite tasty with some lovely Roquefort cheese. I like a lighter touch on the dressing(it was red wine vinegar and Extra virgin olive oil) but the dressing felt clean and was fresh. Husband had seasonal pumpkin soup which he enjoyed and I did as well. Great on a cold winter night. Will be back for that. Linguine with lobster and shrimp was my choice and I patted myself on the back for that one. Perfect pasta, lobster and shrimp flavored nicely though shrimp slightly overcooked, in my estimation. The light tomato sauce went fantastically with our choice of Chardonnay. Btw, interesting wine list with many, many good options especially by the bottle. But not too many from California. Some good choices by the glass, too. Husband had Seasonal offering of Halibut with lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil, and capers served over sautéed spinach. Light and perfectly cooked. He quite enjoyed it. For dessert we tried the special offering of Almond Brown Butter Torte with Caramel Sauce and Salted Caramel Ice Cream. This we paired with Coffee Noce. My husband, the dessert fan, could not say enough about how well he liked both! They even made some fresh whipped cream for his coffee noce which pleased him. I had it plain which I thought was just right. We will be back to try other entrees as we know the service will not let us down. We will ask for Carlos!

When I lived in St. Louis, Tony’s was well known to be the best restaurant in the city. I don’t get to St. Louis that often, now that I am in the Kansas City/Lawrence area; but whenever I am in St. Louis, I try to include a dinner at Tony’s. It is world class, and the owner, Vince, is extraordinary. When I was at Tony’s a few days ago, I suggested that they consider moving to Kansas City. Kansas City has many fine restaurants, but Tony’s sets the bar very high.

This wasn’t dinner. This was dining. We were greeted warmly as soon as we entered and were shown to our table. We were worried that we may be underdressed — we’re wrapping up a week long road trip so clothing options are getting sparse. But we saw a bit of everything there. My husband was in khakis with a button down shirt and I was in a dress with a cardigan. We blended in well, though we saw both extremes of dress. We asked for advice picking a bottle of wine and landed on a Super Tuscan that was phenomenal. In fact, when the last of it was poured into my glass, we were both surprised and disappointed — we didn’t realize how much we’d already drank! I started with Tony’s Salad, which is a blend of lettuces with tomatoes, onions, parmesan cheese, and thin strips of salami tossed in a red wine vinaigrette. Perfect. My husband had spinach salad, which included avocado and crumbled blue cheese. He initially thought the avocado would be out of place, but it worked well. For dinner, I had the shrimp and lobster fettuccine. It was lovely — big chunks of lobster and shrimp tossed with the pasta, which was in a slightly spicy olive oil. My husband had steak and foie gras, which he loved. Both the salads and entrees were prepared in the kitchen, but the finishing touches are done table side. It adds something special to the meal to see those final steps happening in front of you. For dessert, we ordered the special — a brown butter and almond tart served with caramel sauce and salted caramel ice cream. My husband doubted my choice… until he started eating it. So good. And then we were surprised with a small piece of pineapple cake in honor of our wedding anniversary. Service was impeccable. There were several people taking care of us throughout the evening. Tony and his son each stopped by the table two times as well. Highly recommend for a special occasion celebration. It’s a special place where you’ll certainly have a dining experience.

Tony’s is located in an office building near the Arch. I was here for a business dinner during a convention. I was the first to arrive for a 7:30pm reservation of 10 people. The entrance and reception area was quite impressive. Fresh flowers were on the reception desk. Since I was the first to arrive I enjoyed a glass of chianti near the inactive bar. When some of the others arrived they also enjoyed a glass of wine near the inactive bar area. Eventually we were all seated at a great table and some great table service started. I truly enjoyed the carpaccio, with arugula and truffle oil for $ 12 and the spectacular lobster albanello entrée for $ 35. Several others enjoyed the lobster albanello as I did. It was a great 4-star dinner. I ended my dinner with an espresso. This was my best restaurant in St. Louis.

This place is first class. Every moment was elegant, from when they took our coats to when they gave us little cookies. It’s very fancy, and they treat you like royalty. The owners came by and talked to us several times during the meal. I had the Tonys salad, which was huge and delicious. Plenty of vegetables and great salami. My entrée was the seasonal red snapper, which was served with the most delicious combination of butternut squash, mushrooms and pancetta I could ever imagine. It was perfection. We split the triple chocolate torte for dessert, and if you like chocolate, this is for you. Loved the entire experience.
