I love this place! Great stylists, and amazing haircuts for men and women. They just rennovated their interior and the place looks great! Wonderful business downtown and great addition to the community.

I had an incredible haircut with Kristen a few weeks ago and have been too busy to write a review, but have been thinking about it ever since — the experience was THAT good!
I desperately needed to clean-​up my ‘do’ — it had been months since my last cut and I thought my boyfriend of 5+ years was about to propose. (he did! yippee!) We are currently long-​distance, (he lives in st louis), so I searched Unilocal while I was there and found 13^th and Washington, read all the great reviews about Kristen, and set up the appt. Let me assure you, the reviews are all true!
The atmosphere at 13^th & Washington is perfect; the space is relaxed, effortless, elegance as well as youthful and current. Kristen is a true professional — she asked a few key questions to know my personal style and what I wanted from my hair, and then completely delivered. My cut was perfect: light, bouncy, shiny, and romantic. Exactly what I wanted for the proposal! Kristen clearly loves what she does and her enthusiasm is sweetly infectious. I hope I can recruit her for my big day! :)

My favorite place to get my haircut in St. Louis. Monique is awesome, does a fantastic job, and I get to relax and enjoy a beer. I would recommend to everyone.

The story goes I was looking for a new place to get my haircut as I’ve gone to the same person for 15 years. I had some friends recommend 13^th and it had fantastic Unilocal reviews. While looking online I saw I could book my stylist from there! I’m a proponent of not talking to people on the phone so this was a huge + in my books.
I made the appointment 2 days in advanced and showed up with no problem. Monique was awesome and took her time on my hair. She asked me what I was looking for and walked me through each step stating her opinion and asking for mine. She’s clearly a pro and I pretty much let her do her thang. She specializes in men’s hair and is clearly an expert. A haircut with Monique was a 5 star experience and she easily gave me the best cut I’ve ever received.
Plus, they offer you a complimentary beer while you get your cut. How amazing is that? If you’re a guy and you’re looking for super affordable place to get a new haircut, go to Thirteenth!

I walked in here on a whim and had a great experience. I was attending Unilocal’s Old Hollywood event last Friday and was looking for something a little bit fancier than my typical french braid. Luckily, I was able to walk in without an appointment and was seated in the styling chair within 15 minutes of walking through the doors of this cute, very hip salon.
(Before I talk about my pampered experience, I feel like I need to precursor by saying that I have A LOT of hair! Many jokes have been made about my having 2 heads-​worth of hair and occasionally in the commonplace humidity of STL, it has been known to double in size! I knew that, thickness alone, it would be a challenge for anyone ready to take it on.)
The stylist was friendly and was able to create an Old Hollywood style for my mid-​back length hair using a few pictures off my iPhone and some of her creative flair. With a quick wash of my hair, a blow-​dry, and some extensive curling, bobby-​pinning, and hair-​spraying, I was all ready to hit the red carpet at Union Station (with a few tips for styling my hair in tow!)
I would definitely come back to Thirteenth & Washington for a big event in the future, but I’d recommend making an appointment to anyone interested.

I was quite hesitant to go to someone I did not know, I think every woman is just terrified of a bad haircut. Well let me say that I could not be happier with my experience with Kristen and how lovely she is. I have a TON of hair long and thick that was overgrown and a dry mess. I walked out with a fabulous hair cut, silky smooth hair and some great products. Kristen was so nice and listened to what I wanted and she gave me some great advice for keeping my hair gorg. Kristen is a gem in downtown stl. If you have the chance or as I did a desperate need for some hair TLC go see her. You will not be sorry.

All the girls are very nice, every customer I have seen ecstatic about there cut. Monique is who I go to, she specializes in men’s hair, very nice and a great deal for such an amazing hair cut. Thank you again.

If you appreciate an eye for style, color, a dedicated and meticulous hair stylist/​colorist, relaxing, calming and gentle scalp massage-​like shampoos and more, then look no further. Prepare for your upgraded new you! Also, prepare for reverse-​sticker shock; Nina’s prices are more than affordable for her incredible talent!
So here’s my story…
I happened upon Thirteenth and Washington when looking for a special treat to give my thirteen year old friend to celebrate a milestone in her life. I had gone back to doing my own hair, so this visit was a splurge gift.
We were introduced to Nina Lanasa who listened to what my young friend wanted. She gave some advice of what she thought she would like along the lines of what she was requesting.
The results… were incredible! She brought her to a beautiful red color with highlights that added dimension and depth. The cut was also perfect. I have never seen a teenager so happy! Weeks later she is still squee-​ing about how much she loves her hair.
So naturally, I had super hair envy and had to book myself an appointment for my bottle black, thin, sparse, lifeless hair. I went in and explained to Nina that I understood she couldn’t do much with my sad hair other than dealing with my roots and a simple cut.
Nina, being the pro she is, knew better. After over 15 years of not expecting much of my hair she introduced me to a whole new world of stye, color, and hair health. She added some texture with layering to give my hair more body. She added low-​lights to the black that gave dimension and a more healthy natural look without damaging my sensitive strands. I put my trust in her and she surpassed any expectations I thought I could ever have of my difficult hair. She also gave me great advice for hair care to improve the health of my hair.
Needless to say, I’m a super-​fan and I’m hooked! I can’t wait for my next appointment.

Thirteenth & Washington is conveniently located close to where I work, which is one of the reasons I love it. Kristen is great about talking you through your haircut – I feel like the haircut I received was exactly what I wanted and what we discussed. I also loved the products she used. She really works to identify what your specific beauty needs are and tries to address them during your visit.
It helps that the space is so well decorated – it’s a great little set-​up that’s equally relaxing and inspiring.

I visited Kristen for a consultation appointment. Her professional yet approachable demeanor made the appointment very comfortable. She had great advice and ideas for a new haircut with a low maintenance color treatment. After my first color treatment and hair cut, I received so MANY compliments on my new hair! I can’t wait for her to style my hair again.
The only thing I will call out is the location. You have to be mindful of the time you make your appointment. Sometimes it is difficult to find parking on Washington and you definitely want to make sure to park close, especially when you plan to be there after dark. Unfortunately, I have to leave work early to get there early enough and not worry about the parking situation. I wish she had Saturday hours available, but I believe they are set aside for special event appointments only.

Glad I happened upon this place! Love everything about it, Kristen was sweet to talk to and did a brilliant job on my curly hair. Will be back soon! Thanks girl

Big fan of this place, as it’s convenient and has a great feel to the whole place. Monique does a great job cutting my hair, and Kristen is always very friendly. Fair pricing and easy scheduling.

I love this place so much! Such a cool vibe, great location, and Kristen is a GENIUS with my long hair!
