As a former student of Webster University, my 1st experience with the film series was a class assignment. If only every class assignment was as good as that! The Winifred Moore Auditorium is one of the most comfortable auditoriums I have ever sat in which cushy chairs that will ruin you from ever enjoying a movie theatre seat again. A converted chapel, the auditorium is a unique place to kick-back(Literally. The seats tilt!), relax, and watch some of the titles from up and coming directors and artists. Prices are reasonable and students receive a discount, so remember your ID!

As far as comfy seats go, Winifred Moore Auditorium beats most. They lean back and there might have been a couple of times in college when I fell asleep in these chairs during a lecture. Oops. Aside from sometimes being used for classes and related things, Winnie Moore is also the place where the Webster Film Series is held. You can find their schedule online or find a copy of the paper version. The price is about the same as going to a regular movie(cheaper if you’re a student), and no, you don’t get to eat popcorn, but you can see some great films that you might not see anywhere else. Sometimes, they’ll do thing even more unusual than the variety of films, as with a series of Buster Keaton films, during which, the films were accompanied with live music, which is really fantastic to experience.

For me, the Webster Film Series is one of the most important features of Saint Louis and has been around for over twenty years. It started as a Webster University student club for non-mainstream and artistic films. Today, it brings us important works from around the world, and often brings filmmakers for a Q & A session. Anyone who is interested in cinema truly needs to catch the Series! Usually the showings are at Winifred Moore Auditorium [ called the Winnie on campus ], but are sometimes held elsewhere. Make sure you check the schedule to see where the showing will be held!
