Hot Damn! The Soup Man. Glad it’s here during winter. It warmed my body! Now that the Haiku is written, I can get on with my review. I like the Soup Man. The staff are very friendly(despite the reputation from Seinfeld) and the food is good. I ordered lunch for three staff today and the counter person was more than happy to ring each transaction separately. I thank her from the bottom of my heart! Today I had a coup of Italian Wedding soup, half an egg salad sandwich, and a soda for around $ 9.60. The soup was phenomenal and the egg salad was awesome! The soup man has roughly eight or nine soups available each day and rotates them on a daily basis. Check the website before visiting to see whats hot! In addition to soup, the SoupMan offers sandwiches, paninis, wraps, salads, smoothies, coffee and dessert. Chilled soups are also available during the warm weather. How can only one person have reviewed this place? And only get 3 stars? Sure enough, the Soup Nazi does own this place(only like 10 in the country) and they decided to grace us with their presence in Downtown STL. Soups are amazing, I mean best soup you’re going to get at a non-high end restaurant). Prices are hard to figure out(veggie one price, meat another, seafood another) and can add up quick if you get the special soup. While it is higher, one of my favorite things is you also get bread(yes Elaine), fruit and a piece of chocolate with every soup. That is a big deal as I never fill up on just soup Soups change daily and they do run out, so if you go late, you may not get your top 2. They do deliver as well. Mulligatawny and chicken veggie are my favorites. All the sandwiches I have tried are good as well. Stick with a veggie soup with a sandwich and soda(trio combo) and you can keep it under $ 8.

I had chicken noodle soup there… once. The food is great, and the service is actually pretty wonderful for a themed chain(as far as I know, the only one in STL) lunch place. However, I’m not a big fan of their prices, which are a deterrant. I can spend $ 7+ dollars elsewhere for soup. Maybe in the winter I’ll change my tune. And I’ll seek their chicken noodle soup once again.(Probably to stave off a cold.) It’s tucked away at the Bee Hive Lofts, around a corner, so if it’s a windy day(and their sign gets blown down) then good luck trying to find this place while driving down Washington Avenue.
