Live within walking distance and have been here numerous times. The food is good, always consistent. Did not care for Strata, the sauce is sweet, too much like ketchup. The service is horrible. As many times as I have been there, I feel like I’m a stranger walking through the door. We’ve had to wait up to 15 min to get a refill on coffee, and good luck getting water, much less a refill. Difficult at times to get anyone’s attention to let them know you need a refill. The daughter’s owner has a nasty attitude, never smiles, might ask«how is everything» as she is walking away. As mentioned by others, have had to wait to pay when the daughter is standing behind the counter, never makes eye contact. We have been there when there was only 7 people in the place, which included the 3 of us. Service was still terrible. This place has so much potential due to location and the quaintness of the place. They need to improve the service and come up with a few specialties.

Had a terrific Sunday family brunch here. Good variety for both breakfast and lunch and all 11 of us were very happy with our food. Nice atmosphere too. Not sure what it’s like on other days but make a reservation on Sunday since others have discovered this too. We will be back!

Had been wanting to go here for such a long time. Really unique location and loved the venue. Unfortunately, we waited over an hour for a table and then another 45 minutes before they even took our order. They were slammed and had run out of several food items as well. When we finally got our food, the hashbrowns were super oily and dried out and the eggs were just so-so. The toast was soaked in butter. Not anywhere near worth waiting two hours. Won’t be back!

The barn is an adorable restaurant. You immediately feel welcomed and they have a southern hospitality vibe. They have a cute little outdoor eating area too. We had to wait a bit for our food. The kitchen was backed up but the staff was so friendly and brought us toasted bagels with 2 cream cheese flavors… but amazing delish full of flavor cream cheese. We were hoping they sold it there so we could bring a bunch home. But they dont. Boooo! Any ways. I had the sun-dried tomato broccoli quiche. It was delicious. So much flavor in every bite. They serve grits or hash browns with your meals. My husband had the eggs benedicts. He thought they were good. The hollandaise sauce was great. I highly recommend the barn for your next meal.

What an AMAZING find! I was on a business trip and found this place on Unilocal.I had a feeling when I pulled up to this place that I was in for a treat. I sat outside on the back patio overlooking a beautiful tree covered grassy area that had a pond off in the far distance. It was very peaceful and I felt like I was back home staying at one of our beautiful bed and breakfast houses in Sonoma County. The breakfast was fantastic and the food was the best breakfast I had during my stay in the St. Louis area. Perfectly cooked sunny side up eggs, nice crispy«barn browns» and the bacon was my favorite. Thick cut and nicely smoked. I also opted for a side order of their biscuits and gravy and it was spot on. It was really nice to get away from the hustle and bustle and start my day with a great breakfast in a beautiful peaceful setting. I will definitely revisit the next time I am in the state.

Great food and cute country atmosphere. The biscuits and gravy was excellent, but the Strata Deluxe was epic! Baked egg dish with sausage, veggies and gravy! The bloody Mary’s were on point too.

Very quaint little place. Rustic décor & setting. Friendly staff. Thought it was a bit pricey but for location & atmosphere it was probably reasonable. Reminded me more of a tea room type menu. Nice place just not my style.

I am not lying when I say that this was literally the best breakfast I ever had. I ordered the special of the day, which was strawberry and lime French toast, which was a doughy French toast covered in a lime cream sauce and a strawberry topping. I would describe to to you, but just attempting to put my feelings for this dish into words is impossible. The staff was very friendly and it was obvious that this was a family-styled restaurant, as the servers all seemed interested in your meals and in how you enjoyed the meal. My entire family enjoyed the meal, and no one could disagree that the breakfast we had was the best dining experience we have had in years. While our expectations were not too high, I can now mo longer get my breakfast anywhere else without disappointment. Plus, our meal for four only came out to be around 40 dollars, with two pieces of cheesecake that’s a deal! The only downside was that they didn’t have a fountain for drinks, so you had to get your drinks in cans. But everything else, marvellous!!! Will be returning in the near future.

This place is a hidden gem in STL for breakfast/brunch. It’s pretty small so probably not a good spot for large groups. I got the Barn House Slinger which was delicious, and I don’t even like slingers(get it without chili). Typically it’s a good welcome. They’ll say things like«welcome to the Barn»

S.L.O.W…good place to socialize or look out the window. The one waitress that was there had 4 tables… not very busy. Had to ask for coffee refills — empty cup filled halfway. Need ice water to take a pill… had to ask 4 times. Eventually got our food. Strata deluxe was filling & tasted alright, but very salty and served with a small portion of finely shredded, overly greasy hashbrowns. Broad side of the barn was lackluster. Not as sizeable as it sounded on the menu… hubby was still hungry after cleaning his plate. I hoped for a better experience based on reviews & friends’ suggestions. Too bad.

Biggest complaint would be the dreadful service. 45 minutes, 1 and a ½ cups of coffee. Ask for ice water 4 times. Was she lazy or just didn’t give a damn? I tried a drink of Amy’s Memosa. Bitter orange juice & cheap champagne. Ick. Food was blah & disappointing. Never to return.

I like the food actually… buy the long wait and bad service make the restaurant not worth to come for another time. Just wish the owner could improve it but I doubt whether they care about it.

I’m sitting in this restaurant now, and am very unhappy with my service. This is my second time here, and I don’t plan on making a third trip. We waited around 30 minutes for a table, after seeing three that were open the whole time, and told it would only be a few minutes. Then once we were seated we waited another 7 minutes before anyone asked what we wanted to drink. I had to stop the server from leaving so I could add our order as well. I’m now sitting here waiting for our food, which has been another half an hour, and just waited 5 minutes for an update to let me know that they still have another ticket in front of ours. I don’t understand how if there are only ~13 tables a restaurant can have so much trouble managing that. I shouldn’t be sitting in this establishment having the time to log all of my negative experiences while still waiting for my food. On the bright side, I will say that the food here is at least 4⁄5 stars. But the price & selection are more like 2.5, with the service being 1 star

Don’t waste your time. Just went to this place for the second time, figuring maybe the first time was just a bad day for them. And also, because I really wanted to like the place being that it’s close to my home, and also because of their nice little patio with a view of a pretty pond and the old Sappington house. Boy was I wrong. This place is a mess. The food is actually pretty good, the gravy is outstanding, the service however, brings this place all the way down to TERRIBLE, hell-like status. From what I could gather our server was one of the owners. Whoever she was, she certainly could care less that we were there. As could everyone else that worked there, aside from the hostess, who maybe still didn’t care that much, but at least was friendly. To everyone else our presence seemed to be an inconvenience. The fact that there was no silverware at the table was not a big deal, the real problem was when we asked our waitress for some so we could stir our coffee we were gruffly told, «i’ll get you some whenever they roll some up.“This coming on the heels of waiting far too long for her to come over and ask us if we were ready to order at all — no greeting either, once she did arrive, nor was there mentioning of what the specials were, nor after bringing us our food, did she ask us if we needed anything else. And it wasn’t just us that had problems, I watched other tables wait for far too long to be asked what they wanted to drink, etc. And to be treated gruffly. A lot of this would have been understandable had they been really busy. They weren’t. Aside from the poor dispositions and general attitudes of nearly everyone that worked there, the bigger problem was no one seemed to really know what they were doing. Leadership starts at the top and these people were no doubt frustrated at the lack of direction and the chaos it leads to while simply trying to do their jobs. Would have been a fun episode of Kitchen Nightmares watching Gordon Ramsay try to whip those people into shape. Not as much fun to experience in person. Another couple things that sucked: A different, yet equally bitchy waitress(the owner waitress’ daughter) bumped her butt into the corner of our table three times, spilling my wife’s coffee twice. She casually said, «sorry» one of the three times, though it was clear in her tone that she wasn’t. Later, I saw the same waitress sit down at the table next to us to take their order. It was obvious she didn’t know them, so it wasn’t like she was visiting friends on the job… Also also, due to the terrible layout of the place, us and several other tables had a clear view of the drink station. Which is how we saw our waitress reaching her finger into the inside of an already full drink and wiping a smudge out. We waited ten minutes for someone to give us our check which is crazy if you could see how our table was practically on top of the waitress station, and since our waitress walked by us several times. In the end, I simply got up and went to the register. After requesting the check, the bump-ass waitress from earlier, casually tossed it at me with no apology, no thank you after I signed the check, actually without commenting at all. It was like we were never there. I’m sure she was just glad to get another customer out of her work space. Our presence no doubt makes her and her coworkers job a lot harder. One last add on: the whole time all this inept service was going on, while we sat there waiting for a server to take our order, while we sat there waiting and waiting for our check, the husband of the waitress owner, sat there putting silverware into napkins, no more than fifteen feet away, facing us. I have little doubt he saw how unhappy we were and heard the remarks about the service but he did or said nothing to his wife to make it better. It doesn’t get any worse than that. KITCHENNIGHTMARE!!!

If I could give this place no stars, I would. I came here with a friend after walking a few miles on Grant’s Trail. Seeing all the 4 out of 5 star reviews, I figured this was great idea for Saturday morning breakfast. My coworker even forewarned me about this place stating it has had several changes in owners and was barely afloat. We came in and the rude bartender not looking up at us blankly states«Hi, someone will be right with you.» Okay, great. A few minutes later, Karen, the owner rushes out with food in her hands and says in passing«Hi, someone will be right with you». So then 5 – 7 minutes passed and then a younger lady who I now know as the owner’s daughter comes out and says«Hi, has anyone taken care of you?» We tell her no. So she asked where we’d like to sit and seats us and gives us water. We sat for another 6 minutes before Angela comes over and asked did someone take our drink order and that she would be our server. So we decline other drinks while we browsed the menu. She comes back and we order mimosas and we decide on what to eat and watch as this man stood at the cash register to attempt to pay and the bartender carries on with other tasks near the register still ignoring him. He looks her dead in her face and she doesn’t make eye contact with him. He gives blank stares to Karen, her daughter and Angela all in passing and no one acknowledges he wants to pay so he walks out without paying. About 10 mins later he comes back in and grabs his child’s sippy cup he left at the table and walks right back out. Still, no one noticed he didn’t pay until about 20 mins after he’s left. By then several other customers have come in and received the cold shoulder from the ice queen bartender who was very very rude and even more rude and condescending to the owner’s daughter. She’d yell at her while she was trying to take care of customers and even let a door shut on her while she was trying to deliver coffee to a table on the deck. UPDATE: So I just found out the bartender and the younger waitress are BOTH daughters to the owner Karen whom I was vocal about the slow service to not only my friend and I but to the other patrons to which she dismissed me like my opinion didn’t matter to the running of her business I EVENTOLDHERABOUTTHEMAN I SAWWALKOUTWITHOUTPAYING! IA will definitely NOT return here. If the owner doesn’t care about their service, who else will? Don’t come here if you value your time and like friendly and fast service for a fairly empty restaurant. I ordered french toast with sausage and the sausage had a hard casing and the syrup was ridiculously thick and messy. SMH…

I wanted something new and different for breakfast and lucky for me I found The Barn. I had to scroll deep in to my «breakfast» search on Unilocal to find my new adventure and to my surprise it was only 7 miles from house. How could I have been missing out on something this good? I have a lot of catching up to do, to experience the entire menu. This morning I did a little role playing and ordered, «The Ranch Hand Breakfast». It was a manly breakfast of Biscuits and Gravy with two eggs on the side. I had my eggs scrambled, my new obsession with eggs. The B&G were a huge serving of milk pan gravy covering flaky biscuits. I must say, I have a new winner of a Stevie B Awards in the category of Best Biscuits and Gravy. My dining companion ordered Eggs Benedict with Barn Browns as his side. Barn Browns is a creative name of Hash Browns. Whenever he orders Eggs Benedict out, I cringe in fear. He is a Benedict snob and I always have the fear they are not going to be up to his standard. We had a winner and I got to sample a bite. The eggs were done to perfection and the Hollandaise sauce was impressive for a small café. They even served up the Hash Browns, I mean Barn Browns, extra crispy without even having to request them that way. Working weekends, Tuesday is my weekend so I enjoyed an early morning Bloody Mary. I ordered mine Hot, with UV Sriracha Vodka. The glass was rimmed in spicy salt and garnished with three olives and a lemon slice. Oddly it was served in a short glass, but it was big on flavor. Service is relaxed and friendly and the ambiance is warm and cozy. This little gem is definitely in my breakfast rotation. Good food, good service and the prices are very affordable. If you are looking for a simple place to enjoy a breakfast out, check out The Barn.

My husband wanted to try this place so we went. I love breakfast food and will eat it as often as I can. I had scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and hash browns, I loved it all. My husband had a slinger with out chili he really liked his. All in all I would be back. I mean like I said at the beginning I love breakfast!

I had no clue this place existed. It’s in a little hut right off Grant’s Trail. The food is really good, the service was great, and it wasn’t too expensive… and props for serving breakfast all-day. I ordered a Broad Side of the Barn… which is a slinger, but I got mine without chili. It was good, fresh and filling. The restaurant is located with a good view of a small nearby pond and is really quaint.

This place was so cool. We had finished riding Grant’s Trail and we wanted breakfast. Thanks to my handy dandy Unilocal app, we found The Barn. The parking lot was full and we were afraid that the wait would be long, luckily it was only 15 minutes. The place was small and quaint. They have a drink menu: mimosa’s, Bloody Mary’s, and many others. I knew this was the place we needed to be. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. My friend ordered the Barn special: two eggs to order, sausage, Barn browns(hash browns) and toast. I had the quiche of the day(mushroom and swiss) it was heavenly. The coffee was tasty, Bloody mary could have used a little bit of something. The service was great, very friendly hostess and attentive wait staff. We had so many people waiting on us, we were not sure who we needed to tip. This place one can hop off of Grant’s Trail, eat and get right back on your bike. Very nice place and I cant wait to go back.

What a cute little place! Although only about 15 minutes away, I honestly felt like we were on vacation. Service wasn’t slow, but relaxed, and everyone was very friendly. The menu is small, but offers the traditional items like the Barn Breakfast with eggs, meat, starch and bread, plus a few of their own like a strata and their version of a slinger. I had the Barn Breakfast with perfect over-easy eggs, crispy bacon, «Barn browns» and rye toast. Everything was high quality. I especially liked the hashbrowns that were sliced so thin, they did a perfect job of sopping up the egg yolk goodness. The place is small and doesn’t lie — it looks like a barn. They do have a covered outside seating area that I’d like to try, which overlooks The Sappington House and a fountain.
