Table is a fantastic spot and an even better restaurant. When you walk into the restaurant you are immediately struck by the building and how well the style of it has been maintained by the current owners. The impressive looks and openness of the space are only surpassed by the food. The staff was knowledgable and helped guide me(and my other dinner mates) through the menu. The food was simply outstanding. We ordered several appetizers, all of which were unique and tasty. I followed up the appetizers with an order of fish cooked to perfection with a crispy skin. My friend ordered the burger was was similarly impressed(and although I loved my fish, I have to admit I was a tad jealous when I saw the burger). Although I usually wait to visit a place multiple times prior to writing a review, I was so impressed with Table that I felt a second visit wasn’t necessary(to write the review anyway, I cannot wait to visit again for my own pleasure).

If I could, I’d give it a 4.5! We’ll definitely be going back soon! Décor — amazing! The bar, the lighting, the high ceilings make this place look awesome! Service — friendly and helpful, but not over-attentive. The food was a little slow coming out. I would recommend being prepared to order your appetizers and entrees at the same time, otherwise you’ll end up with a lot of time on your hands. Lamb meatballs — 5 — Superb! I think I read that these used to come with a blueberry sauce — which didn’t sound appealing to me. I’m very picky about how lamb is seasoned and I’ve rarely found something this perfect! The hickory smoked tomato sauce is smooth and a little sweet. We’ll definitely get these next time we visit! Pork fritters — 2 — I read nothing about raves about these pork fritters and it was the first thing on the menu to really catch my eye. But they ended up being a disappointment. The consistency was nice — similar to a funnel cake(moist, yet fluffy). But they had no flavor. Thank goodness the apple butter was there to add a little sweet kick. We won’t be getting these again. Over-the-Top-Burger — 5 — Woah! Guys, this burger! It was amazing! Just the patty itself had so much flavor! The thick slice of cheese was melted to the perfect gooeyness! And I would totally recommend getting the egg on top! The bacon was a little on the crispy side and I wish it had a little more of that siracha-mayo. But all around, it was a kick-ass burger! The side of cole slaw was great, too. It had the perfect balance of sweet and vinegar. We will definitely order this again! «Chocolate Chip Cookie» — 2.5 — Not so much a cookie as it was a cookie bar — or a blondie with chocolate chips. The consistency was more like a cake than a brownie and it didn’t have enough chocolate chips for my taste. The cookie dough icing on top was fine. Very simple, but fine. The whipped cream on top was probably the best part. «Chocolate Pudding» — 4.5 — It was more like a mousse than what I would call a pudding, which was fine by me! Very sweet and light! And the whipped buttermilk and butterscotch crumble on top was a delicious twist! We’d absolutely get this again! Next time, I think we’ll have to try those gruyère cheese puffs and some of their ice cream for desert!

We played it safe and made reservations for our group of 4 on a Friday night at 8pm, but could have gotten by without on this particular night. I would have enjoyed sitting at the bar all night, sipping on the delicious cocktails while staring at the bar which kind of resembles an alter with the back metal shelving reaching up into the wooden sky. I started with a drink called«Bloody Prohibition». Made with bourbon, red wine, lemon, cinnamon and apple bitters, this slightly tart drink packed a flavorful punch. I really enjoyed this drink, but also sampled the«Gin and Drugs», and the«Brandy Grable». As I suspected, the Gin and Drugs had a medicinal taste to it, but it wasn’t bad. My favorite drink of the night ended up being the Brandy Grable. I’d go back for this drink alone. Once seated, we ordered a variety of appetizers to share. The pork belly fritters were excellent. How can you not love ground up pork belly that’s been shaped into a ball, deep fried, and served over apple butter? The lamb meatballs came in a nice tomato sauce, but I was the only one at our table who cared for the«gamey» taste of the lamb. The sautéed radishes were served with a biscuit and sunny side up egg, but didn’t wow me. For my entrée, I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was good with the strong flavored homemade tartar sauce, but the portion was a bit small. The shoestring thin fries were disappointing for me. I prefer the thick British Isle type chips. I also sampled the pork rib chops and considered this the winning entrée at our table. If you love pork, then this is the dish for you. The flavor was outstanding. Honorable mention goes to the side plate of gruyère cheese puffs served with grain mustard. These little deep fried puffs were another favorite of the night. Overall I really enjoyed my visit to Table. I look forward to returning soon for the flavorful cocktails and creative and tasty menu offerings.

My girlfriend took me here for an impromptu date, one night. Allow me to preface by making a couple of points: 1. The food is, overall, fantastic. During our visit, I do not recall one thing that was unpleasant. The pork belly, in my opinion, though, was the star. 2. The staff was great about accommodating the gluten/dairy allergies my girlfriend has. So much so, in fact, that the chef took recipes that included such allergens and created the same dishes with alternative ingredients. These are great qualities. Next to these, I would also say the atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasantly dimly lit. Now, despite the good, there are a couple of downfalls that will stop us from returning: 1. Cost — the portions are small, which is understandable, but the cost is very high. We left the restaurant feeling hungry and about 50 – 60 dollars poorer. It was just not enough. Granted, we have a tendency to visit expensive restaurants, which all happen to match or exceed the quality, but there is not a time in which we regret spending the money. 2. The service experience was another interesting factor. While they were great in accommodating the allergy problems, the waiter for our table interacted with us in a peculiar fashion. His attention was rarely turned from my girlfriend. It was more or less an observation than a full problem. The reality is that he had a responsibility to make contact with both individuals at the table. Commonly, waiters/waitresses will interact with all diners at a particular table, but I felt like this was not the case. There are too many great restaurants in St. Louis that are cost-effective and incredible or incredible despite being far more costly and do not make one feel like they have wasted money. I am sad to say that Table did not generate a positive experience enough to keep us coming back. It wasn’t horrible by any means, but there are far better alternatives in this city.

Seems that there should be a filter to separate reviews from before and after a reboot/totally new menu/new management/etc. Apparently, in late 2013 Table switched from giant communal tables and American tapas to regular tables and a more typical style menu. Overall, we had a solid experience. Was not sure what to expect since the reviews are so spotty. Probably won’t go back anytime soon, but certainly wouldn’t be against it. Savory House Made Mini Rye Toast: I always appreciate when a restaurant sends out a free pre-meal snack, but these were pretty bland/boring. Probably would have been better w/a spread or something. Corn Fritters: Think cornbread donuts w/maple syrup. Thought these were good, but my two dinnermates absolutely loved these. Pork Belly Fritters: May have been my favorite dish and is a bit hard to describe. Similar to a hushpuppie, but the interior texture was very meaty w/very little filler. Somewhat like a pork belly crab cake. The fritters were better than the apple butter on the side. Vegetable Hash: Really enjoyed this. Reminded me a bit of a hot, savory salad. Bunch of great veggies sauteed together. Chicken and Biscuits: Dinnermate who ordered this said she enjoyed it, but I did not like it at all as it was far too salty, nor was the dish what we expected. I assumed something like chicken and waffles, but this was biscuits and gravy w/chicken instead of sausage. Over-The-Top Burger: Decent, but could have been better. Was cooked more than the medium I asked for, and the battered, fried bacon actually takes away a bit from the bacon flavor. Cheese curds were decent, but I don’t think the rubbery texture of a cheese curd works well for a burger. Server seemed surprised when I asked for mustard, as if that was an uncommon thing. She brought house ketchup too, which was pretty good. Deviled Eggs: I don’t know why I keep ordering deviled eggs when I see them on menus. They are always fine, but are never better than those made by Grandma at the family Easter egg hunt. Lemon Tart on Shortbread: Very good and simple creamy lemon custard on top of shortbread topped w/roasted marshmallows. Great, but the shortbread was hard as a rock which made this hard to eat. Vanilla Bean Cake: Very good, dense, and moist ~8 layer cake. As far as drinks, I had the Chef’s manhattan, which was solid. They had a speciality chocolate vodka drink that one dinnermate loved, but I was not a fan. The drink list is ok, but pales in comparison to some of the more creative and interesting cocktail menus in town. Overall, we had a good experience. The space is pretty kickass, with extremely tall ceilings and warehouse feel. Service was ok — nothing really to complain about but it did take a while to get our drinks, and about ten minutes had gone by from when I was brought my burger to when I got the mustard and house-made ketchup. We ordered multiple drinks and dessert, so I think the prices were fine, but at the end of the day we didn’t feel like the $ 175(with tip) tab was worth it for three people.

The space. The design of the space IMHO was the best part of the experience. The food & drinks. The Cabernet — no body or bouquet, and the stingy pour for eight dollars disappointed. Decent draught beer selection, I went with a safe bet, Civil Life. The fries were greasy and soggy. The coleslaw was great. The before meal savory rye was special. The ground beef was quality, albeit $ 12 without fries. The service. The staff was welcoming and friendly, but would like servers to communicate on up charges for add-ons to meals.

My dream right now when we win the lotto is to hire Cassy Vires to travel the world with us to cook for us every day of my dream life. They have a new menu and its very exciting. The new mac and cheese they have, I cannot remember what is in it, but its out of this world, I dream of this with crab meat, but I will save that for my dream menu when we win the lotto. The staff is all so lovely, I really like every single one of them. My favorite thing about this place though is the dessert. Everything is blow your mind crazy good. The other night we had cheddar cheese ice cream. It was so weird yet good. I LOVE stuff like this, I love the constantly rotating menu, even if they did stop doing brunch until the summer. I understand their decision but it has really effed up my Sunday mornings. Anyways, I cannot recommend this place enough now, especially since they got rid of the community table aspect because I know a lot of people were put off by that. Also, on the menu, you can buy the crew a beer for 10 bucks. Do it, its well deserved!

Went to dinner for my partner’s birthday on 10 Jan. Short of the drinks, desserts and cornbread biscuits, the rest of what we ate was bland and overpriced. The short ribs were flavourless, including the gouda grits. The chicken and biscuits, although had a little more flavour, had quite a lot of grizzle in what couldn’t have been more than 4oz(113g) of chicken on the plate. Was surprised when we got the bill. My partner ordered the $ 8 Sundae Bar, but it wasn’t explained that that did NOT include the ice cream. Which the 2 scoops, comprising ½ cup(120mL) was $ 5 additional. And for the $ 8 bar was 4 ½ cup(120mL) measuring spoons of toppings(1 or 2 crumbled shortbread cookies, a nut mix, chocolate shavings and a dollop of chocolate carmel). Needless to say that dessert was $ 13 for what amounts to a SMALL ice cream sundae. As my partner said«I would have rather skipped the dessert and gone to get Blizzards at Dairy Queen» We will not be patronizing this restaurant again, and our experience here has made us NOT want to patronize the same proprietor’s other restaurant in Maplewood. For the same $ 130 we spent, we could have had a better experience at The Melting Pot.

We visited Table for the first time today, with a group of 15 adults, and 2 young children, ages 2&3. We’d been to the sister restaurant, Home, and enjoyed it, so expectations were high. I wish I could say we had a 5 star experience, because for the price, and based in a few other Unilocal reviews, we had high expectations. However, 3 stars is the best I can do. We arrived with all but 2 of our party members, so we sat around the table chatting, waiting a little while to order so everyone could order at once. However, I expected that our waitress would have taken a drink order and had drinks out to us right away. Unfortunately, that did not happen. We sat there for a good 10 min before she asked who wanted drinks, and bringing out waters. When she did being some out, she shorted us a coffee and a few waters. Assuming she was bringing more, since her tray was full with the 4 coffees, we waited another 5 – 10 min before asking for the other coffee and some additional waters. What disappointed me the most was when I attempted to place an order for my two young kids with our drink order, to get them started on lunch, I ordered the pancakes, and asked if they could just make us two eggs over hard, since those are easier for our kids to eat. The waitress said they could only make what was on the menu. Appalled, I said, «Seriously? We have 15 adults here, eating about $ 500 worth of food… charge me for whatever you need to, but please just bring us two eggs over hard with the pancakes.» She said he would check. She came back and said they would do two scrambled eggs. Still very angry, I acquiesced, but had we not been with such a large group, I would have walked out right then with my wife and kids. We tried a lot of things, starting with the Bloody Mary tray. Very good… especially the garnish options that come with it. We also had the French Toast Sticks, Shirred Egg, Chocolate Donuts, Mussels, Potato Croquettes, and a few others I can’t remember. French Toast Sticks were amazing… cream filled, they melted in your mouth. Shirred Egg was also really, really good, but we didn’t care for the donuts. The flavor was ok, but they were more like cookies than donuts, as they were really crispy. Wanted donuts, not cookies. The flavor of the mussels were tasty, but the actual meat in the mussels was rather minuscule. The croquettes were also very good. All in all, the food was good, but we paid almost $ 100 for just 5 tapas style small dishes, and two cocktails, including tax and tip. We went expecting a little higher class of food, and that’s what we got… but for that kind of money, I think I still prefer Benton Park Café around the corner. We can spend half the money, have two cocktails each, and have simpler, but just as tasty food. Then the service… it was subpar. For a $ 90 brunch, I expect excellent service, not average… and certainly not subpar. Unlikely we’ll go back, and certainly not with the kids.

Finally got to try Table tonight with the Gs, They have been raving about it for a long time so I was excited to go. Now one thing I can say is that I’m NOT a fan of the whole«communal dining» thing. I think it is weird and awkward to be seated right next to strangers at a table. I probably wouldn’t go here with just one other person unless if we sat at the bar or one of the high tops in the front of the place. With a group of four who had out own«table» until shortly before we were finished, it was much more palatable. I like the look(other than the long tables…) and they even have a fireplace. A high point was the service — it was excellent, with food coming out quickly, being checked on a lot, dirty items being cleared without delay… our server was very personable and gave good suggestions. The table had several things but I just had these as I’m a vegetarian. There were more options for vegetarians but these are what I chose: Corn fritters — fresh, not«fried» tasting, and sweet. Served with maple syrup, which sounds weird but was SO good! Cauliflower empanadas with manchego and hazelnuts — this was a major«miss» but I think it was an isolated thing, as others had it before and they were better. It tasted like a salt lick. I couldn’t get any other flavors. They took them off our bill. Butternut Squash risotto — amazing. Not a traditional risotto — actually made with shaved squash rather than rice. Very flavorful! Only wished for a larger portion. Mac and cheese — usually comes with bacon, but they made it for us without. Great flavors and rosemary complimented it. Chocolate chip cookie bars with salted caramel pudding — very yummy! Dip the cookies in the pudding. The cookies were a bit dry, but when dipped tasted great. Sticky Toffee Cake — extremely moist and rich! Enjoyed it but couldn’t eat more than a few bites. I hear the brunch here is great and I’d definitely be back for that. or for dinner. A new favorite for sure! Definitely GO and go early to try and get some privacy :)

Man this place blew my wife & I away! We were visiting from Chicago and wanted to do something that wasn’t a complete tourist destination. Which is funny considering I found this place while dropping her off at the Budwiser brewery tour. I love the neighborhood and started looking for a place to eat. The staff were awesome from the waiter & bartender, to the hostess and manager. Besides being a really good looking space, I love the communal table theme. Sure, somebody is going to get stuck next to a bad diner once in awhile, but most of the time it works out. Chances are if you’re writing about that type of experience, you were the obnoxious person someone else was seated next to. The food was amazing. Loved some of the combinations they put together on a small plate. It was 6 months ago that I ate hear and I’m still dreaming about going back. I can’t remember everything we ate, but we ended up ordering one dish twice it was so good. Alls i can say is. I want Table in Chicago and I’ve actually told some of my food snob friends they might have to make a stop in St. Louis next time they’re traveling.

There are 26 other reviews for this place so I will not go into too much detail. I did a first time dinner here with 6 other friends. There was much food and drink consumed and we stayed encamped for like 3 hours. Generally, the food was pretty good, the drink and wine selection very good, the service good enough but not great. For me, it was a surprisingly large tab, but it was all there. Not to sound too cheap, but for the money, I think you can do better. Its not bad food or drink, no some of it was very interesting and well made, but perhaps its the nature of these small plate menus that the bill piles up pretty fast. Be warned first timers!

The food was pretty good and horribly overpriced. Our waitress truly could not have been worse – she checked in every 45 minutes or so on our group of 8 people despite the fact that she had a maximum of two other tables. The bartender, on the other hand, was adorable. I had to order a drink from her directly due to the waitress disappearing for hours at a time. I will not go back.

Table is in a really fun location in Benton Park. It’s definitely a hipster type place. The inside is very tall ceilings and has a rustic feel. My girls and I sat on the back patio which is covered. The restaurant is family style seating, with incredibly large wooden picnic like tables. It was a really unique feel for St. Louis. We shared 2 bottles of a nice Malbec that Table had on the menu. We ordered tapas style as well so we all could share in the fun. We did the Beef Ribs, Scallop Crudo, Pork Sliders and the Lobster rolls as the main dishes to share. The brussel sprouts and three bites also accompanied our meal. The three bites we had were the popcorn(YUM), the sweet potato chips and the house made pickles. The Scallop Crudo and the Lobster were incredible. The scallop was fresh and not fishy. The Lobster roll had such great flavor… The bee ribs had a great sauce on top but they were a little fatty. The Pork sliders were fried and wow they were really tender and yummy. We ended the night with two ice cream flavors & the chocolate pâté. YUM! Everything was really wonderful. I will be back to try more things on the menu. I really enjoyed the outside atmosphere and felt like we had transported to LA… Nice work Table! See you again soon.

For some reason it ended up being less communal than I expected. We sat at the large table but there weren’t a lot of people there and most others chose to sit at the several smaller tables. I thought that was some of the appeal to the place but I guess others don’t view it that way. The buildings and parking around the restaurant are a little run down, so be aware when you go. Now for the food, it was fabulous. It is mainly small plates though the do have a couple of items that are more of a meal. We enjoyed ordering many different small dishes and sharing them. The sweet corn fritters turned out to be our favorites(they were like corny funnel cakes). There was so many great things on the menu that you just have to go multiple times to try them all.

The space is unique, has plenty of seating, and it has an awesome outdoor(covered with fans running) seating area. We came here for brunch, and fortunately the weather was reasonable, so we sat on the patio. The tables are large, silverware and napkins are placed in the center, and the atmosphere is welcoming. I love tapas, but I strongly dislike when portions are overpriced and absurdly small. I asked the server upfront which dishes were the most sizable or filling. He pointed out the poutin, duck and potato hash, and the tomato strata. Poutin: served in a bucket, full of curds, gravy, pork belly, and chopped egg. delicious and sinful. plenty to share amongst 2 – 3. Duck and potato hash: over easy egg on top of a well-seasoned duck/potato mixture. Not too salty, and a reasonable portion. Tomato Strata: served in a hot dish; light, custard textured eggs with tomato and mozzarella, very filling. Enough for 1 alone, or can be shared. Sweet potato doughnuts(3): not greasy, not too dense with an awesome maple-praline glaze I realize that the«small plates» are supposed to come out as they are prepared, but the shirred eggs that we ordered came out a solid 10 – 15 minutes after all the other dishes were finished. A little excessive for eggs? I will definitely be back for dinner, and to try other dishes.

Tasty dishes, slightly high $. small plates with small portions, but the flavors are good, presentation is great and service is excellent. The mushroom escargot was hard to maneuver, but all other dishes(Marconi almonds, olives, sweet potato chips, lamb meatballs, veal carpaccio, and chocolate pâté) were yum!

Great server and service. Overall, I was a little underwhelmed. I really like that the server did tell us up front which were smallish plates. The moral of the story, we should’ve asked specifically if our plates would be smaller when we ordered our specific dishes. We did know that it was small, and ordered 4 dishes between 2 people. From the start, some things that were annoying: no free coffee refills: 4 cups to the large– only got 2 cups out of it. I think when she said 4 cups, she meant 48oz cups, and the cups they use were larger than that. I definitely feel like they could’ve at least just charged $ 4 each for unlimited coffee. It wasn’t like it was the best tasting coffee I’ve ever had. I signed up for emails from Home Wine Kitchen, and so I got an email directly from the owner advertising the new restaurant. I guess should’ve taken a look at their listing on Unilocal, which clearly displayed ‘tapas’ as the type of restaurant. It’s definitely tapas, which I never go to, since they’re generally expensive and small, and I can only handle one of those at a time. I looked at the menu, so I knew it was going to be expensive. Four out of 5 dishes were incredible. The pancakes left me speechless. They are not served with syrup. Here’s my tip: ask for fig syrup. I could taste everything in the description of the dish — the mix of the bananas and peanut butter was perfect, neither was overpowering. I’ve never had pancakes that consistency, but it worked. They were slightly gooey and springy. The tomato strata was cheesy, fresh, with the perfect amount of egg, cheese and bread(but actually not that much tomato). The chorizo corn dogs were also great, crispy, they used really flavorful chorizo(one of my pet peeves is weak chorizo and/or andouille). They were small, each one was bite sized. The duck hash had a weird taste to it. It was salty. If I had to guess, I’d say it was red wine braised, and it mixed horribly with the hollandaise flavor. It just wasn’t quite right. After this, the bf was nowhere near full, so we absolutely had to order the french toast sticks, which were SO good. One upside, the food is brought right out, so everything was piping hot and fresh. Also, we passed the patio on our way out. Unless it’s unbearably hot: just do it. It is a completely covered brick building with barred gates, unless someone is smoking, it would be amazing. It was like a covered pavilion. I doubt you would even get wet if it was raining. Over $ 70 with tip, and the bf wasn’t even full. A little rich for our blood. So, if you like tapas, and don’t mind blowing a bill on breakfast, go for it!

I really enjoy the strange food at Table. They pair things that are totally out of the box, but are still delicious and accessible to people who are a little hesitant about trying new things. I like the space and the fun facts on the blackboard. So I’m not sure if I even want to mention this, but the service is the tiniest bit off. Everyone is friendly, but both times we’ve been there they have tried to bring us other people’s food or were unsure about our order. I would be willing to bet that this won’t even be an issue at all after they’ve been open for a few more weeks. The only reason that I’m not giving it 5 stars is that I believe it should really be in the $$$ tier, not the $$ tier. If you order a cocktail, appetizers to share, a main dish and dessert you’re definitely going to be over $ 30 a person. Probably way over. The servings are pretty small too which detracts from the value, which is why you would really need to order all of those things to make a full meal. That being said, I realize they are going for small plates with an upscale ambiance so maybe I’m being overly critical. This is why I still gave it 4 stars.

It’s like Home Wine Kitchen has ADD, and gave us these cute little American-style tapas plates. How fun! We came in for the soft opening, so while I haven’t tried everything, the foie gras is great to share(generous portion), the scallops were both beautiful and delicious(my favorite dish so far), and if you order the forest mushroom escargot, don’t forget to give them a little tap, tap, tap on the side of your plate to get the hidden little bits that your tiny fork is craving. :) Highly recommend, and I’ll be going on soon to try«The Table» tasting menu.
