Steak ‘n Shake

This store isnt nesr as bad as the reviews Ive read here. The servers try hard to please, the cooks are always hustling. The manager is a great guy and is always pleasant. Most people who make these bad reviews are attempting to get a free meal by complaining. Dont try to ruin a restraunts rep cause your trying to weasel some free food. Not everything is perfect sometimes you have to wait a bit. Bet when you make dinner at home everything doesnt always fall into place everytime either. Oh thats right your lazy butt is at a restraunt waiting for service. Shame on you, bet you wouldnt talk this smack at home to your spouse when things arent right. And do you tip your spouse? Yeah I didnt think so. Manners are free, and dinner isnt. Got it? Good! This Steak n Shake is better than most. And on that rare occasion it isnt, be nice people. Its not that hard.

What a dump.
The workers and management have given up. The food is consistently wrong and sparse. Maybe 10 fries in a order and barely any toppings on burgers. No one here cares. Waiter had a filthy uniform. Food comes out and no drinks. Shakes came after we paid and 30 minutes after we ordered at lest. This is a completely dysfunctional mess from top to bottom.. The manager was a slovenly woman with no apology or eye contact or anything at all, she just kept jabbing her finger at the screen without any concern or effort to make anything better. As we walked out 40 minutes later we see shakes coming out. This was such a great place growing up and now it’s a disgrace. Completely disgusted. The entire staff should be fired and the place power washed out and just start over with people that actually care.
Sad.
Head to Courtesy Diner just down the street at Laclede Station and Watson. Good food and friendly service.

This is the worst S&S. Short staffed. So slow. Once we spent 40 minutes in the drive through. Another time it took 20 minutes for water then they forgot/​lost our order. Terrible!
