I heart the library. This is the main location I visit though I’ve been to a few other branches before. I got my SLCL card a little over a year ago and started going to this library regularly ever since. When I first got a card, I was mesmerized. You get a card for your key chain. They have self check out with scanners. There are multiple computers for community use. The online system is very user-friendly and easy to navigate. They have an awesome collection of DVDs — I am super impressed by the recent releases, multiple copies, and number of titles of DVDs. Those are the reasons this library is awesome! The book collection in library is good, but often the books I want are at other libraries. No worries though as I’ll peruse the catalogue online, reserve the item, and run to pick up once I get the email that it’s ready. They have items for pick up right when you walk in and they’re organized by last name. Couldn’t be easier or more convenient. In fact, it’s easier than if I were to go there, look up the book, and reserve it myself. Staff are always friendly and helpful in my experience. It may have been helpful to have an explanation of how to use all of the technology in the library. I figured most of it out on my own though and what I didn’t, I either asked or lived without. I’m proud to have this library in our community!

By far the most convenient library location for me(live in Affton). The library is free(well, thanks to our tax dollars), and you can tell that they are operating on a tight budget because the bathrooms have not been updated since 1970. The selection is okay, but I usually have to request more popular books– which they will hold for you. I like the new computerized check out system so I don’t have to interact with the less than friendly staff. When I got my library card(first one in over 10 years), I was all excited and hoping for a tour, demonstration on how to search, etc. What I got was a card and a «don’t you dare bother me with any questions» look from the librarian. Sadly, I am still underinformed on how to use some of the components of the library. Thanks crabby lady! Maybe I’ll get up the courage to ask another person someday.
