Wings looked like pigeon wings! Are they really chicken? We waited for two hours for terrible food. That kitchen is not big enough for the the number of seats. We will not return!

One of our family favorites. What can I say excellent appetizers, salads(all homemade dressings daily:) pizzas, sandwiches etc. oh and not to mention awesome strong cocktails. Great place to watch a sporting event on the big screen or taking a little league team after a game. We have been going here for years and look forward to eat here when we visit St. Louis.

I have the worst dinner with my family. Very tough philly steak. Nasty cole slaw. I tried my waitress but finally i pour the bar my water. No thanks. :(

I’ve been going to this place since I was a kid… My Dad and I would stop in quite often, and any time one of his many friends were in town for work, or whatever the reason… This is were they wanted to return to. The only thing that has changed since I was little, is that you cannot smoke in here anymore, and the menu is updated. The carpet, tables, TVs, and probably the cups are still the same, and that is fantastic. The pizza sauce has changed a few years ago and is more sweet than I remember, but it is still my favorite pie in St. Louis. Tons of toppings, great crust, great sauce. The service was never amazing, but their food is on point. Order ANYTHING off of that menu, and you should be in for a treat. Their onion rings are phenomenal, wings are good but tiny, and their fried clams are great too! Really, nothing made here will disappoint. Salads come with a fresh baked pretzel, and their house dressing is amazing!(house made Parmesan dressing)

Best pizza in the world! Truly amazing sausage and or pepperoni pizza with the most delicious sauce. Their house salads and pretzels are also terrific! I have probably been to Schottzies 50 to 60 times, always getting the best food!

I wouldn’t pay for my dog to eat at this place. Bartender was the only one actaully moving. It’s hard to complain about wings and pizza but, yeah. The wings were the size of my pinky toe. I got charged for the sauce that I got for the wings and also the blue cheese. Pizza came out cold. It just blows my mind why anyone would like this place. As I type I’m seeing multiple couples with blank stares waiting for someone to refill their drinks. Never listen to a Highschool football coach when it comes to good places to eat. It was cheap though. Good if you’re hammered or know nothing about what good food is.

Chicken fingers are the best! Just the right amount of seasoning, crispness, and moist. Love them.

We’ve going to Schottzie’s for years. It’s a no frills bar and Restaurant with great food and even better prices. They have specials throughout the week which are really good too. My favorite is the Oriental Chicken salad, it is for good. Their wings are really good too ask them to cook a little longer no rubbery skin then. They have TV’s everywhere you look. Sharon is by far our favorite waitress she is a sweetheart. The other waitresses are very good too. Oh if their really busy it’s normal 20 to 25 minutes for your food. The kitchen is tiny their, but worth the wait. It would be great if he could expand the place and make it bigger.

Came in to try the brain sandwich, I am glad this was not my first visit here. There is no flavor at all. Just deep fried breading. I felt like I just ate the breading off of a country fried steak. The chips are awesome though! Decided to not fill my stomach with meh food and try out the tavern eggs. They made up for it! The service itself was fantastic and friendly. I wasn’t charged for the brain sandwich, which I thought was a very nice gesture. It was prepared correctly, I simply didn’t like it. If you do plan to try the brain sandwich, I recommend bringing some friends to cut it up and make it a challenge. Again, it wasn’t that it tasted bad, it just didn’t have a taste. But how many people do you know that have eaten brains?

Update to my original review: Finally the bathrooms were repaired, makes a big difference when you don’t have to pee in the sink. It seems the wait staff has turned over and no one is in charge. Poor service and/or slow service is the norm here. Never can tell if the food is going to come out of the kitchen half done or overdone. I am thinking that if they want to actually stay in business Schottzie’s better start working on the basics, give me water, silverware to eat my meal with and a napkin to clean up with, throw some coasters on the tables and then my glass won’t slip across and fall off, they are free. Fill the pitcher of beer on up if you have 3 inches of subs, don’t short me cause you don’t want to get the lines cold enough. Jeez, the simple things are being overlooked but trust me folks remember this type of stuff. I’ll be back but it will be awhile…

They were very busy in there but I wasn’t really comfortable. Sorry but the place looks dirty, in the kitchen(gaze through the little window at the end of the bar for proof), out of the kitchen, everywhere. Not too impressed sorry to say.

I came here with some friends for lunch. The food is typical American bar food. I was tempted to try the pizza, but was told that the pizza is very greasy. Not Kat compatible. I got the hot dog. It was a huge long hot dog(regular sausage in girth but longish in a big piece of French bread). Reminded me of the hot dog(skinny long weiner in a smallish hot dog bun) I had in Narita Airport(Tokyo) many moons ago The hot dog at Schottzie’s was incredibly salty! Tiny hole in the wall. Right across the street from the yarn shop. I really don’t know if I’ll come back or not. Service was a tad bit horrid. There wasn’t that many people in the restaurant. It took a bit long to order & get our food.

Featured on bizarre foods! Get the fried brain sandwich, tavern eggs(Scottish eggs), and prosperity sandwich one of the only places left in st louis where you can actually get pork brain. i wasn’t a huge fan because the texture was super strange and pasty but definitely worth a shot!!! very run down mom-and-pop feel but the staff are super friendly!!!

Went here with my wife and daughter for the first time in many years… a lot more enjoyable now that it’s smoke free. They have pretty good happy hour specials on drinks and appetizers. We has pizza and fried chicken and they were pretty good. Definitely will go back and try other items.

I don’t know of any other dive where I have the freedom to order«Tavern Eggs» Scotch Eggs, Pig Brain sammiches, Fried Chicken livers, Fried Ravioli, heaping Nachos, and a frosty cold beverage in one sitting! Although I may never do that again(I hope) it was a lotta fun! Best Scotch Eggs I’ve ever had, and in Tampa I can’t find too many organs for eating as a whole, so this was a great treat. I ate so much brain I couldn’t move after wards. I’m a freakin zombie now. Thanks Schottzies!

So when I was a kid, I remember my pops telling me that monkey brain sandwiches were popular in St. Louis. I’m not sure if I ever actually believed him, but I didn’t let that stop me from perpetuating the rumor down here in Tampa. Well, finally at the ripe old age of 39, I decided to ask my aunt about it this past weekend while I was in town. She said that she did know of places selling«brain» sandwiches, but that they weren’t actually BRAIN. Curious, I decided to look it up on the enterwebz, and sure as shit, calf brain sandwiches were once sold in the St. Louis area – not monkey brain. Apparently, restaurants had to stop selling them once the whole mad cow disease thing exploded, so they moved to pig brains. We immediately started looking around, and a fellow Unilocaler suggested Schottzie’s. Having nothing to do, we headed over and ordered one up. In addition, we ordered TAVERNEGGS(Scotch Eggs), IRISHNACHOS and CHICKENLIVERS. Everything mentioned was good, specifically the tavern eggs. If you’ve never had these before, you definitely need to try them. I mean, it’s a hard boiled egg wrapped in sausage and then freaking deep fried. Seriously good stuff. Down in Tampa, they can only be found in British pubs and they’re called Scotch Eggs. Tavern eggs sounds more appealing. Or does it? LOL Either way, they’re good. As for the BRAINSAMMICH, it was ok. Big, thick slab of pig brain deep fried and served with pickles and spicy country mustard on swirl rye. Meh. The chicken livers were better. Service was great and the décor was decidedly divey, both huge bonuses for us. Plus, the Cards game was on, and they were whippin’ up on The Reds 13 – 2, so it was a good day. My only actually suggestion, get Schlafly’s on tap!!!

Food is good, service… not so much. I’ve seen the barmaid there wait the tables better than the wait staff. We literally spent 2 hrs waiting, & it wasn’t busy! But the food was good.

It’s always really slow at Schottzie’s for some reason. Even when there are not a lot of people there. The food is OK… not great or bad. I’ve given them multiple chances because it’s so close to my house but wish they had a little better service.

I’m sad to say this was fine. I live super close so I was hoping to find a neat bar to frequent on those days where I don’t want to get ready. We went here before directv offered me nfl Sunday ticket for free to watch the Packers game. We stayed for a long time, eating, drinking, and enjoying the game, but nothing jumped out at me. The service, drinks and food were all okay, but not great.

Maybe it’s just because I can’t get the South County out of me, but I love this place. Granted it’s a little smokey, the service can be slow, and the left turn from Lindbergh can be a pain, but it’s still as good as a South County dive can get. The pub far is standard, but done well. The nachos are huge and of course covered in gooey wonderfulness. The pizza is honestly one of the best St. Louis Style pizzas around, and at least the last time I was there, they still had the Addams Family pinball machine.
