O’Shay’s Pub

This place has one of the best smoked brisket sandwiches! Also great portabella sandwich. Nice staff. Very attentive. Will definitely come back.

I love eating here. The brisket is smoked out back. Their burgers are an excellent choice. I haven’t really expanded my pallet here past the burgers, chips, and brisket but I would highly recommend you try the chips and beer cheese. Black and Tans are always a nice addition to the meal as well.

Guinness stuff everywhere but doesn’t even have Guinness. Don’t waste your time. Some «irish pub»

Great neighborhood establishment. Good beer selection and super relaxed, casual environment. This is the kind of place I would go to watch a game in sweat pants and not feel bad about it. Friendly staff, fair prices.

An Irish Bar in The Grove serving up all your favorite bar food and of course whiskey and beer. I had a large group and they accommodated us promptly. The service was swift and efficient. We had a show to attend in one hour. We were served well in a great time frame that allowed to enjoy O’Shay’s and still get to our venue.
If I had more time I would love to explore the menu as a Corned beef taco seems like a winner to me. I opted for fish and chips and they were good in a very unique batter. Almost reminded me of Irish soda bread batter. Not a bad dish overall. The prices here are also very reasonable. If you want a good meal under $ 15.00 this is a great option,

When we stopped in here it was only because of a tap takeover by Broadway brewery out of como. We decided to eat and followed the advice of the server. I had a burger and my gf had the Reuben. My burger was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and huge! The Irish chips were a great side to go along with a great burger. The Reuben, which is smoked in house was the biggest id ever seen. The meet was at least an inch thick and the bread made the sand which. Definitely worth checking out if you find yourself in the grove with an appetite. They also have some really great beers on tap as well as their very own house lager.

Drunken chicken was good, not great. He ordered the McManus burger but they were out of ground beef. I thought that was strange but hey, at least they are using ground beef rather than frozen patties. They lost a star for being out of beef. He ordered the brisket nachos instead. They were definitely the best part of the meal. Brisket, harp (beer) cheese, jalapeños, green onions, and sweet BBQ sauce on top of house made ‘crisps’. We had toasted ravioli as an app and I didn’t love them. Just okay. It’s too close to The Hill for the the t-​ravs to be so mediocre. They have a decent craft beer selection. Minus the fly in the glass, our drinks were good.

I’ve become a regular since moving to The Gove. The food and service are both fantastic.

I realize salads are not a pub specialty but come on, iceberg lettuce and bagged shredded cheese. Just being lazy and cheap, but it cost over $ 10 if I remember correctly. They also charged us a $ 1 each for extra salad dressing! Really? It was maybe one tablespoon of salad dressing on a small plastic cup. … really bad business. The server was nice, but totally spaced out. Also, It was the night before St. Patrick’s day at an Irish pub and there was no one in the bar, I mean not one person. The were three tables outside that were full, we were one of them. Can’t imagine going back.

Brisket Jalapeño Burger!!!

Stopped by on a whim. So glad we did!!! Food is great but the service is unmatched! The bar tender took the time to explain the local beers and make me a special cocktail. The best part was above average military discount they gave my husband.

Although the wait time for food was rather long, the McManus Burger definitely made up for it. ½ pound patty cooked and seasoned perfectly, smothered in cheese and topped with onion rings. Really tasty. The fried were also crisp and seasoned perfectly as well.
If I’m ever in St Louis again, I’d definitely stop by.

Came here one afternoon looking for something different–
I am glad we did.
O’Shays is located right across the parking of UCBC in the Grove.
When we got there, they werent too busy. A couple tables at best.
We started with the wings–
they were HUGE— and delish! they also. took a while to come out. I get it, wings take a while to cook. Im aware.
I believe I ordered the buffalo chicken chicken aka the Flaming Hooligan– it was wonderful… one of the better ones I have had–
this is weird, but the iced tea was good too– a plus in my book…
I believe DH got a burger, but i cant remember so i wont comment on that–
however—
avoid this place if you are in a hurry—
it was so slow, hence the 4 stars, and not 5.

Come here for a burger!
I got the Shroomy Swiss (i think that’s what it was called). but regardless, it was a delicious burger topped with mushrooms and cheese. It was amazing. Everything about this burger was delicious. the bun, meat, and toppings. I had zero complaints.
O’Shay’s has several TV’s. i was in to catch a late Card’s game. They also have shuffleboard and beer specials, so really. you can’t go wrong. Stop in here and treat yourself to an amazing burger.

Good beer and liquor selection for a neighborhood pub. The problem with the place is it’s just not authentic. There is nothing really genuine Irish about it. I’m willing to put that aside and forgive the owners for at least making a heartfelt attempt at being Irish. If you’ve been to a real Irish pub in Ireland or the British Isles, you’ll understand what I mean.
The food is a let down because much of it comes from a bag. By that I mean most of it is just ordered in and re-​heated. It’s a bit disappointing to say the least but if you know what to expect, it won’t feel like such a let down.
The establishment has a good location, is clean and fun during sporting events and the like. I’m glad it’s in my neighborhood as there is a place for such an establishment. I just wish they’d step the food up a notch. As this ex-​pat can tell you, the fish & chips are nothing to write home about.

Went for happy hour today. Really great place! They have really good happy specials until 7pm (which is awesome). The food is SO good. Do yourself a favor: get something with brisket on it. Get it. Get the brisket.
Also, the décor is nice, nothing fancy but certainly nice and very clean. They have foosball, shuffleboard, and lots of big TVs for game days. AND they have available off street parking which is pretty rate. I’ll be back!

Geeze this food is good. Why does it have to be so good? I want to get more beer in my belly than food when I go to a pub, but I can’t here. Cause the dang food is so flippin good. Good burger… check. good chicken sandwich… check… fries… check check. Chips… yep its good.

Another good spot in The Grove!
I lived less than two miles away from The Grove for two years, and there are definitely days when I miss being around this thriving area. One Grove place that hadn’t given the time yet was O’Shay’s Pub, but that issue was remedied this past week.
There’s just something odd about an Irish pub in The Grove. Perhaps this place is too «conventional» for such a unique area. Perhaps that’s why I stayed away from it for so long.
And that’s certainly the case with O’Shay’s. If anything, it lacks a unique flare. Just far enough off the path, it probably doesn’t even benefit that much from the busy weekend nights down the street. However, it has room to grow as its own entity.
We stopped in for a late afternoon lunch, and the place was empty, just minutes before happy hour. Once happy hour kicked in, people started poking their heads in. Two in the afternoon, like clockwork. But this gave us a chance to ask questions and get acquainted with the menu.
I had a thirty dollar gift certificate, so this gave us plenty of room to explore. We ordered a half serving of the Killarny Flaming Hot Wings, not my choice. The overall quality was pretty superb, but I was doing a little dance in my head as we devoured them. My tongue was on fire! The misses ordered a spicy burger, topped with beef brisket and jalapenos. I went a more traditional route with fish and chips. The food didn’t rewrite the book, but I found it quite satisfying.
For the drinking man, O’Shay’s has a fairly decent selection, from domestics to local local brews. They even have a pub ale, an Irish red produced by O’Fallon Brewery specifically for the establishment. It was a mild red and definitely accessible for people who fear making the jump to craft beer.
Like I said, O’Shay’s might not be the next hot spot in The Grove, but it does most things rather well. Check out the website for daily specials and other things like trivia night and karaōke!

Located in the Grove Neighborhood, this Irish Pub has been open for over a year now. I’d had this place bookmarked for a while and finally found a good excuse to try it on my birthday. With all the great review, I figured this would be a safe bet, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to my expectations. With an understaffed crew, it might have just been an unlucky night, but I won’t be rushing back any time soon. We were a group of 10 people planning to meet at 8pm on a Tuesday. After finding out that the kitchen closes at 9pm, I decided that I better call ahead to make sure it wouldn’t be a problem. They assured me that it was no problem for our group to order food at that time. I stressed the size of our group and they again assured me it wasn’t a problem.
I’ll try to keep this part short, but basically… we arrive and discover that the bartender was also acting as waiter… he took our drink order, but got upset because we were a little too slow to tell him our order (no drink menus were provided)…silence falls over the table as waiter/​bartender nearly has a stress educed meltdown… and instructs us on how to properly order… and so on. I think he probably just had a bad night and was shorthanded. I just wish he would have been a little nicer about it and said something like «hey guys, I’m shorthanded, so bear with me» or at least would have used the words «sorry» or «thanks» one time the whole night. The bar wasn’t quite half full, but it was too many people for one bartender and one cook in the kitchen to handle. Anyway, it made for a somewhat unpleasant birthday experience.
Overall, most everyone enjoyed their food with the exception of one or two people. The burgers we char-​grilled and juicy and they have some nice looking Irish dishes. The homemade pub chips were good, but there wasn’t a single bottle of vinegar on any of the tables and the bartender was way too busy to mess with such petty things like drink refills, extra napkins and bottles of vinegar.
I’m usually willing to overlook poor service. I can relate, having worked in the restaurant industry, but I doubt I’ll be back any time soon. It was probably just a «one-​off», but time will tell.
