I love this little family-run place! I wish I lived closer to it. Because it’s up on Page in the more depressed part of U. City, it doesn’t seem to get much business from people in the Loop, and that’s too bad, because the food is good. The fried fish is particularly yummy — greasy for sure, but it’s a diner, so that’s what you’d assume, right? — the portions are generous, and everything is several dollars cheaper than what you’d expect to pay for the same food anywhere south of Olive. The menu includes several kinds of fish that I’d never heard of. I’m definitely planning to go back and try the BBQ. The sides include all the soul-food standards. Unfortunately LC’s does seem to run out of some menu items toward the end of the evening, so if you get here at 9 pm, half the items on the menu may be sold out. The service is slow but extremely friendly, and LC’s has the feel of an old-school diner: really cozy & atmospheric. Conveniently, there’s an on-site parking lot. Give LC’s a try … you’ll be glad you went!
