St. Louis suprised me this time. Being from Chicago, I have been to many good diners but this was definitely one of the best. Let me starts with the exterior of the location first. They have an old sign and the building definitely looks old too. So, if you do not know the reputation of this place you may not want to eat here. Parking lot gets packed easily, however you can park on the side streets if you can not find a parking spot; it is free. I was craving a big breakfast after driving to STL from Chicago all night. Of course not knowing STL. I initially went to an Ihop, and wait time was 30min. Thanks god! I am so happy the wait was long so I found this place online. We only waited 5 mins and then got seated. The host /greeter guy was quite talkative and entertains people while you sit there. They have been in business for many years and the walls are decorated with full of history. The menu is really good and rich. All the big shots like steaks, burgers, big omlettes, chicken and waffles are in the menu. I ordered two plates. The country fried steak; the dish came with hash browns, scrambled eggs and a biscuit. It was a huge plus that they had brown gravy in the house. Not many businesses do that. They serve nasty cheap sausage gravy all the time. Crispy outside, juice inside and I felt a lot of good meat flavor. Chicken and waffles; man. I said I wish I had two stomaches to order one more. Half chicken served with a nice waffle. They do waffle little different here. It was thinner and more crispy, something new and I absoulutely liked it. But that chicken, man! It was just like homemade fried chicken. This cripsy out layer and very tender juicy chicken inside. It was so easy to chew and eat. I probably made the whole dish disappear in few minutes. I normally dont score restaurants per their service because it is not a stable risk indicator. It may be good one day but bad another day. Just to inform the reader, the service was good on my day of being there. Prices are normal. I can compare this place with House of Chicken and waffles in Chicago but way better version.

I came here for the first time today. I have eaten at a lot of different restaurants, ranging from the cheapest and dirtiest to the über expensive and fanciest. Of all of the places that I’ve been, I received some of the best treatment and best service I’ve ever received here at this diner. From the friendly host, to our kind waitress, to the helpful busser. Everyone we encountered was great! The food is good and the prices are great! I had the 2 pc white chicken and half waffle with OJ. the chicken was good and so was the waffle. I like that a carafe of water is brought to the table. I found it interesting that for my OJ, I was given a bottle of OJ and a glass with ice. My whole meal was under $ 10. My friend had the glazed wings and half waffle. She loved it! the sauce was sweet and very spicy.

My sister and my dad suggested goody goody for the chicken and waffles and boy it did not disappoint. The wings are large but could be a little more seasoned but still crispy. The waffle melts in your mouth. Outside of the food, the wait to get the food was really quick, and the staff was extremely personable. We liked so much that when my other sister came in and my mom, we took them there. If you are flying into the St. Louis airport please stop by if you have time, it is only about 10 min away.

I really am not that much of a fan of here. I came here after reading about the chicken and waffles, but the menu was so large that I forgot that I was there to order the chicken and waffles. The dish they are known for isn’t prominently displayed at all. I ended up ordering the country fried steak and eggs, with hash browns. I was asked if I wanted cheese on the hashbrowns, to which I thought why not? That was a huge mistake as I got a lukewarm processed cheese sauce that tasted of nothing. That aside the steak and eggs themselves were pretty good. The other major porblem I had was that my coffee and water cups both went empty. I want to try the chicken and waffels but I don’t think I can bear a return visit here.

Amazing! This is one of the reasons I love St. Louis. There are so many gems in this city and this place is a force to be reckoned with. I was slightly nervous initially to drive there, but to my friends reassured me that it would be a magical experience. The workers here are so hospitable and kind. And the food, we’ll let me just say I saw rainbows and unicorns, truly magical! A diner that has been open since 1948, has a reason to be standing still today, and I figured out why after my experience. Typical diner atmosphere but the food was way beyond your steak and shake eats. We all shared, cheeseburgers, mashed potatoes, chili mac, chicken and waffles. Yes the combination sounds like a strange array of mixed foods, but I almost was tearful when the food so easily was eaten up and there wasn’t any more left. Let me just say it’s worth the drive, and I will be returning over and over again!

What a find in St. Louis. Thanks to my fellow Unilocaler. We found this place searching on Unilocal.Came here on Friday morning around 9 am and there was short wait already. I think this place stays busy and I would guess wait is longer on the weekends. Host was hilarious and all the server was friendly. It’s a hole in a wall place from outside but it’s a solid place for breakfast. My father in law had to eat right away for his medication. We didn’t mention to our server but apparently she overheard us talking and she brought his food right away! Extra points!

I couldn’t wait to eat here. My husband searched for a dive joint and found this place. They are known for chicken n waffles and their overly friendly host who, goes out his way to make your stay an enjoyable one. We all ordered the five piece chicken wings with waffles. My son played it safe side by ordering pancakes, eggs and bacon. The portions were huge, I took my first bite and was disappointed, the chicken lacked seasoning. Awww… Man! C’mon! Salt and pepper just can’t cut it, not with fried chicken. Ok, I digress. Moving on, the waffle was next, it was like our experience thus far, flat and taste like flour. My son’s scrabbled eggs was cold and his bacon, burnt. Our entire meal was boring, no highlights and certainly nothing to write home about. I tried ordering sweet tea, I knew better the moment the words left my tongue. I was no longer in the south. Of course there is No sweet tea! That was more than this southern/Caribbean gal could handle, it was time to leave. I’m out!!!

Nostalgia, friendly staff, and good food. What more could we want with a diner? 1st off I already want to go back to try their chicken and waffles. We walked in on a BUSY Sunday morning and were greeted promptly. We expected a wait but being a 2 top we slid in quick. The host was funny, friendly, chatted with regulars and newbies keeping everyone entertained. We were seated and served quickly. The busboy and server were both friendly. Our drinks were never left empty and the food was amazing. We had coffee to start. Which seemed a little above average for regular diner coffee. The hubs and I both had the veggie omelet @ $ 9.85 — mushrooms, green pepper, tomato, broccoli, and Monterrey Jack. The hubs had hash browns and a biscuit. I had grits and raisin toast. I also had a side order of bacon — just to try it. Everything was filling and tasted great. As stated earlier, we will most def be back!

I don’t know where to begin. Parking– easy Establishment– cute as can be Host-incredibly kind and very entertaining Menu-endless possibilities of amazingly delicious food and very affordable Waitstaff– quick, efficient and very personable Food– OMG… I might have dreams about this food. We had tastes of everything from waffles, bacon, chili, biscuits and gravy, country fried steak, the hobo bowl, chicken and waffles, etc. And everyone raved about the food. It wasn’t «oh that was a satisfying meal» it was«wow that food was incredible!» We had a lot of empty plates at our table. We are in town for an event and have some family here, with some visiting like we are. Some of our family had been there and loved it so that’s how we ended up going. Everyone who was a first-time visitor agreed that this is an absolute must do next St. Louis trip. I would have gone back for dinner if I could have.

Had a wonderful breakfast here. I was first greeted by the host and he had me laughing(and everyone waiting also) within 30 seconds. Food was great, and even my order was correct(I’m often a pain in the butt). Coffee refills were plentiful and the people were just extremely friendly. Would gladly return.

We stopped here on our way out of St. Louis and I’m glad we did! This place was great. The old school dinner feel was all over. They had the best customer service from the second you walk in all the way until you leave! The host was such a nice gentlemen and the waiters were just as nice! I ordered the chicken and waffles and this combination here was the best I’ve ever had! Will definitely come back the next time we come to visit!!!

I’ve been going to Goody Goody’s for over 20 years & have NEVER had a bad dining experience. The service is excellent. Most of the staff are long time employees and work well together. It’s family owned. It’s not unusual to find one of the owners running food or clearing tables. The food is winderful. It good home cooked food. You don’t have to explain you like your bacon crisp… It comes that way bit not burned or hard. The fried chicken is crisp and they have one of the best bacon cheeseburgers I’ve ever tasted. Every person I’ve taken there for the 1st time always looks forward to going again. They will accommodate a group but you should call ahead. Even when it is crowded people are smiling as they wait. They know they are in for a treat.

Oh. My. God. I have only eaten one thing on my two visits here and may be adventurous one day and try something else, but I may just stick to my fried chicken and waffles. I had the six wings and one waffle breakfast meal and truly, this was fried chicken from the gods… and yes, my fat azz knows some good fried chicken. The waffle was light and tasty and my husband’s omelet was also good… he said, I didn’t even want to try it. :o) The host, Sly who meets you at the door, is truly the icing on the cake for this little joint. He is super sweet, offers to sell you little pen with the diner’s name on it for a dollar and then if they’re not busy,(which is rare I think) he will ask you to put a pin on the big map in the waiting area to show where you’re from. The bus boys are quick with drinks, very professional and polite, the servers can be hit or miss. If you get a slow server, be prepared to wait. The joint fills up fast and the little lobby can be hell getting through but dammit, that fried chicken is so worth it!!!

I have never had a bad experience here… great food. I had the Demi breakfast which consisted of 2 slices of bacon, 3 pancakes, and scrambled eggs. Just enough to start off my morning.

a St. Louis classic diner. Everytime I come here I have to visit Goody Goody. It has been here for decades for a reason. The food doesn’t dissappoint. Try anything on the menu, your taste buds will thank you.

Definitely going back. Those biscuits are so fluffy and huge. The waffle was so light and crispy. Service was very good. Hash browns are diced potatoes(which I prefer over the other kind). It was hard to decide what I wanted from the menu. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because floor was dirty and $ 4.15 for a 6 oz glass of OJ?!! That’s outrageous. Only got it because it said $ 0.95 on menu. My husband is a St. Louis native, and I’m making him go with me very soon because he hasn’t gone!

Starting off the day at the Goody Goody Diner. Staff are awesome. From the time they seat you to time you leave they are there when you need them and not there when you don’t. I love that. They help each other out too, clearing plates or pouring coffee. Great sense of ownership. Looking for something different? I tried the Hobo Breakfast Combination. One bowl filled with scrambled eggs tossed with onions and tomatoes, topped with sausage pieces and home-style hash-browns. Cover it all with white gravy and melt cheddar cheese on top. I felt my arteries harden as I slipped into diner– style culinary bliss… If I were behind the counter, I would add chopped bacon to it and take it all the way to awesomeness. Served with 3 dollar pancakes that are more like salad plate sized, cooked to perfection and served with warm syrup. The coffee stayed filled and the service was the star. Definitely check this place out if you’re in the neighborhood.

Sooner or later I will try something else on their menu, but for now I am satisfied with ordering their Chicken and Waffles every time. As stated in a previous review, I try to order something different every time, but when the waitress ask me what I want, «Chicken and Waffles, all white meat, please», comes out of my mouth. I always enjoy the hash browns, eggs, ½ waffle and chicken wing. The breast, which is always huge I take home to enjoy for lunch later in the day. I wish after GGD closes at 2pm, that they’d re-open at 5pm and serve this amazing fried chicken for dinner, but I am happy to thrilled to enjoy it as my breakfast meat. The service here is always classic diner, friendly. Marica my most recent server, was a true jewel. Everything here is always pristine. The bus boys’ white shirt even pressed and more crisply starched then a county courthouse lawyer. I know I keep repeating myself, but Goody Goody Diner serves up the BEST Chicken and Waffles. If you haven’t experienced it, I highly recommend you go today or tomorrow morning. Don’t be scared on the neighborhood, it is totally safe and it is all part of the charm.
