Oh no! Not Jimmy’s on the Park at 3 ½ stars :( They are WAY better than that. A STL classic that has outlasted several other hyped up restaurants. We continue to have great experiences here… Delicious food & excellent service. Start showing your city some love people. If you are having a poor experience for some reason, say something when you are there — we all have the ability to avoid having a bad time.

Nevermind the fact that our food took over 1 hour from the time of ordering to even fire(after speaking to the manager) the waiter was completely unapologetic. He didn’t even offer us anything while we waited for 1 ½ hours for our less than thrilling brunch. All I ordered was the smoked trout with(grocery store) toast points and accompaniments… I guess they had to go catch the trout. The only thing that saved this meal was the $ 5 brunch cocktails.

The meal we ate reminded me of one served at a Michelin rated restaurant. Service was fantastic. Always wonderful here.

Clayton restaurant week – check! And Jimmy’s, you are A-OK! 1. tuna tartare nachos — weak on flavor, but fish was ok. came with standard grocery story tortilla chips – which took away from the plating and flavor 2. While I was a little nervous about the blue cheese sauce, it came out quite mild! The steak was cooked properly and very tender :) 3. croissant bread pudding — sooooo rich and chocolately, needed a scoop of ice cream! Overall a solid dinner, though nothing extraordinary. Service was slow: 1. even though they were busy for restaurant week… they weren’t THAT busy 2. I found a misc hair in my food, and I didnt want to make a big fuss about it(and ate my food), so I didn’t…but the waitress didn’t seem too concerned when I told her… suspect? not sure… not really an apology or anything… weird…oh well?

Was excited to come here since it seems to be a StL staple but I had also been warned that it’s not as great as it used to be. Came here in a large group for restaurant week, where it’s $ 25 per person for 3 courses. Lemme just preface this by saying, I don’t like when multiple items on the menu are +$ 5 – 6 when it’s a prix fixe menu. Not sure why salmon needs an extra $ 6? Anyway, the service was very slow but luckily the company was great. I found the cocktails a bit too strong for my taste, and not very well-made. I started off with the tuna tartare nachos which were pretty good, although they only gave us 4 nachos per plate. I felt like it was enough but all the guys thought it was pretty ridiculous. I opted for the steak salad which was all right. Definitely something I could have put together myself(I actually took home the leftovers and improved on it with some fancy oils and vinegars). It was basic lettuce, some cherry tomatoes, some carrots, and steak on top. The steak was definitely the best part. The beef tenderloin was pretty good but not an extra charge kinda good. My friend got the Amish chicken and if you like mushrooms in any capacity, this is the dish for you! It had the best flavor, for sure. My friend found a hair in her food and pointed it out to her waitress and she actual reaction was«hm, yeah» and walked away. No apology, and no discount or replacement. The crème brûlée was pretty fantastic, as was the bread pudding, though. The crème brûlée was light and super creamy. The bread pudding was dense but flavorful. The meal wasn’t terrible by any means, it just was a bit mediocre. I would be hesitant to be back but I’m glad I tried it. It was also one of the rare times I took not a single photo partly because it didn’t look all that special and partly because the service was so slow and I was so hungry by the time it got there, we scarfed it all down.

I have been to Jimmy’s more times than my actual check-in shows and have always had a wonderful experience with both the food and the service. Tonight, I chose Jimmy’s as a restaurant to visit during Clayton’s Restaurant Week: 1) because it is a familiar area(I used to live in the neighborhood and frequented this place), 2) they had more main dish options in their 3-course menu; 3) they featured one of my favorite desserts in their 3-course menu and 4) I really just like coming here. It started off being nice. We didn’t make any reservations but it was nice enough of the guy at the front to give us a table especially on a busy Thursday evening and for that, I am always thankful. Then it started going downhill from there. Glasses of water were brought to the table and the waitress did not come for a few minutes or so which was fine. She then came and took the drink orders(I had a glass of Cardiff cabernet) and came back with them several minutes later. Mind you, she never introduced herself or attempted any sort of pleasantries. The menu specifically stated«sundried tomato bisque or soup du jour» but when asked what other soup they had, all she said was«tomato bisque.» Fine. Tomato bisque it is. I ordered a ceasar salad to start then the roasted amish chicken for my main entrée and a chocolate pâté for dessert. While having our meal, another table was seated next to us. They ordered their drinks and another waitress explained what the deal is with Restaurant Week menu. Then I overheard her say you could skip the appetizer or salad and get 2 desserts and explained what other soups they had. That was when I started thinking… Oh my god! Are you kidding me?! I am easy to please when I go to restaurants and I will never send food back to the kitchen unless it’s raw chicken or pork but I expect to be respected as a patron to an establishment no matter how lousy a day you might be having. I work for a living, too but I am always curteous if and when I need to deal with people. I felt like my waitress did just the opposite of that. To top it all off, when the check came out, she was very presumptuous and did not return with the change! We waited for a good 30 minutes sitting there but she never came back. She brought over some orders at a table nearby and kind of looked at our table but did not come back with the change. She gave herself slightly over 20% tip she did not deserve! I feel quite upset about this but I didn’t want to have a worse night than I am already having thanks to her so we just left. The food was good as it has always been but I can’t be enthusiastic about this place as much as I used to be. We feel completely cheated because she did not deserve that much tip and for her to be so presumptuous is just wrong in every way.

Most excellent service from my girl Adele. Didn’t like the cocktail I ordered & she made it all better by conferencing with the bartender to create a new concoction just for me. Fathers Day brunch was a big success.

We finally had an excuse to return to Jimmy’s last night with family in town. We wanted a nice dinner out and knew that this place would deliver! There was live music in the next room — it provided that perfect background without being too loud for conversation. Our server was attentive, friendly and talkative. My husband really enjoys the Nachos as an appetizer. We all had the beef tenderloin, which was delicious! And the bacon gnocchi that it came with absolutely blew my mind! For dessert, we had the apple pie, the turtle brownie(give it a minute to cool off! It comes out piping hot!!) and the Raspberry Chocolate Croissant Pudding. Their pudding is different from many others that I’ve had, but very delicious in it’s own way. It’s a lot lighter, both in texture and sweetness. It’s certainly not weighed down by a thick and overly sweet sauce. It’s also different to have the tang of the raspberry in there! I look forward to trying their lunch or Happy Hour some time soon!

My gf and I love this place. Nice atmosphere and they just got a 65-inch curved tv in their main room. Because I have to watch the blues/cardinals when they are on, it’s nice they have another tv(and of course I wish they would add more)…

My husband and I went on our very first date here, so every year we would go back on our anniversary. I think it was around year 4 or 5 that we quit going because we had some really blah service. We decided to give it another whirl(after an absence of 5 years) for Valentine’s Day-eve. I’m glad we came back! This experience was pretty much the opposite of our last one. Our waiter was very attentive and talkative, and the food was delicious(the food was always delicious… that’s not why we quit going for awhile). I had the salmon special for my meal, and even though I had it over a month ago, I still get cravings for it! Now I think we need to come back for brunch sometime!

Lovely evening! Boyfriend and I ate here for our first date more than a year ago, and went back today to reminisce. Bought a livingsocial, and upon seeing the reviews here was a little timid about using it. Shouldn’t have worried though; had absolutely wonderful service including great description of the specials, refilling of our bread basket and drinks, the food was really great considering the price(tenderloin and pork chop). Also, after mentioning that we had our first date here, they even brought us a complimentary dessert(after we had already eaten their delectable bread pudding)! A really delightful evening, and our waiter was nothing but courteous and attentive. Looking forward to heading back! Boyfriend only has one complaint: «we ate too much!» :)

Valentine’s Day — Food was absolutely awesome. I had the salmon and my husband had the tenderloin. Everything was perfect. Waiter seemed stretched with too many tables and was not as attentive as one would expect. The downside of our experience was that we were seated on the Bistro side up against the half wall to the bar. You’re SO close to your neighbors that I had to turn sideways(and I’m fairly thin) to get between the tables and in/out. C’mon Jimmy’s — lose a table so your guests are more comfortable and more intimate.

I absolutely love coming to this place for happy hour. They have about 10 cocktails to choose from for $ 5 a piece every Monday through Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30. I love sitting on their couch by the fireplace and enjoying a creamy chocolate martini. I’ve also enjoyed their espresso and pineapple martinis. They also have half-price appetizers during happy hour. Their spinach artichoke dip is really delicious, as is their buffalo chicken pizza. If you’re not a happy hour person, they quite frequently offer Groupons. The last time I was there I felt we were well attended to. In sum, good service, nice ambiance, and a great happy hour for people who love martinis.

Jimmy’s on the Park is situated on a quaint little lane with a nice view of the Concordia Seminary grounds across the street. The outdoor seating is recommended even though it’s getting colder each day — they provide heaters that make it comfortable. The inside is softly lit, with nicely set tables for a fancy dinner. However, there is also a relaxed bar by the door that doesn’t give off neon-lights-in-your-face vibe, but more of a laid back classy atmosphere. A number of patrons were enjoying it throughout the night. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad and the Ravenswood Red Zin. The caesar salad had just the right amount of caesar dressing on it and included baby tomatoes, which was a welcome surprise. However, I’m convinced that one of them was spoiled, as it had an extremely mushy and sour taste on the inside. The chicken was a little dry but other than those two items, I have nothing to complain about. Would love to go back and try another dish, as they have a lot of pasta and seafood options. The wine was delicious. It had just the right proportion of fruit taste to earthiness. I’m slowly working my way away from the fruity sweet rieslings and moscatos to the more earthy cabernets, trying to expand my palate, so this was a great way to push out a little further. I will definitely come back for more. The service was excellent. The waiter was prompt in getting our drinks, telling us when happy hour ended, taking our orders(and delivering them correctly), and on top of it all, she didn’t rush us when we were finished eating and just wanted to sit, chat, and have a couple more drinks. It probably helped that it was a little slow(Monday night) but either way, I didn’t feel rushed when I was having a relaxing evening, and it ended up being a great night out.

Yum! I just ate here for Clayton Restaurant Week and I was very pleased with my dining experience overall. Once seated, we were provided with both the restaurant week menu and the full menu, which I liked. Their regular menu looked awesome, there was plenty on there I wanted to try. We all ordered a great glass of wine and our server was friendly, attentive and helpful even though we were all there ordering off the restaurant week menu, not the regular menu. Additionally, I appreciated that we were not rushed through our meal despite a packed house; a true sign of quality service! The ambiance of the restaurant was so fun too! There were caricatures covering the walls it was so neat! Classy without being fancy, it would be a great spot for a weeknight meal or a special night out. Our food was fantastic. We were served a bread basket with two types of soft, fresh bread with a lovely crunchy and chewy crust, perfect for dipping in the olive oil provided on the table! First course I ordered a perfectly portioned and dressed house salad. For my main I got the half roasted chicken with mushroom risotto and roasted broccoli. Sounds boring, but it was absolutely amazing! Flavorful, moist and a generous portion! I was excited to have some left for a second meal. For dessert I ordered the croissant bread pudding. Rich and delicious, I couldn’t finish the generous portion! Others ordered the flash fried spinach, steak salad, southwest shrimp appetizer and tuna nicoise salad. Both got the chocolate pâté for dessert. Not a single complaint from any in our party, I don’t think you could go wrong with anything on the menu! I will certainly be back, although their regular menu appeared a bit pricey for me for a normal night out. Probably the next special occasion I want to celebrate will be at Jimmy’s!

My wife and I stopped in for dinner Saturday night. We are still fans because two of the three dishes we had were absolutely deliscious. I’m talking about the flash-fried spinach and the chicken linquini. They were both really good. BUT. I just had to update my review so I can comment on their spinach salad. I haven’t found a dish this awful in years. It looked wonderful, but the pancetta vinagrette dressing was not what it seemed. you might think it would be a kind of bacon-flavored vinegary dressing. Yes? No. The taste to me was as if someone cooked the bacon, threw it aside, then poured the cooled grease on the spinach. Or imagine letting bacon grease cool, then dipping your spinach in it one leaf at a time. Okay, so why not bring the review down more? Well, I think my judgment of this salad is a matter of personal taste. I really hate the taste and unctiousness of fat. I asked the waitress if people really liked this dish, she said«They LOVE it.» Okay, I believe it. I don’t get it, but I belive it. This one is not for me, though, and if you don’t think you’d emjoy a spoonfuld of lukewarm bacon grease, you might want to stay away. Do go to the restaurant, though. Everything else we’ve had here has been great. Service was also excellent.

This review absolutely required an update. I recently just hosted my rehearsal dinner for my wedding here, so let’s start there that I obviously trust and love this restaurant enough to have a very important dinner there. Next my original review was from back in 2010 and since I’ve probably been to Jimmy’s at least 15 times, taking family and friends because it’s a lock down, go to, classy space where the food is ALWAYS awesome and the only thing better is the service. I’ve eaten just about everything on the menu and there isn’t one thing I wouldn’t order again. As a confession in my previous review I suggested the salmon was over cooked and I only gave Jimmy’s 3 stars. Well salmon was on the menu at my rehearsal dinner and someone found my review from 2010 and called me out on it. 15 people at my dinner ordered the salmon and all of them said it was amazing(and perfectly cooked). You really only need one sentence to describe Jimmy’s. Eclectic tasteful menu with food prepared to perfection in an intimate setting coupled with top notch service starting at the top with Jimmy himself.

I think I found out what service is like at Jimmy’s when you’re two women dining, not drinking and using a LivingSocial coupon — thanks to Nicholas. Or maybe that’s how he is with all patrons. We got great food. We were not well-attended at any time during the course of our two-hour dinner in the bar area. That’s where we were seated. And we had a reservation. The bread basket wasn’t refilled and the only reason we had water refills was there was a bottle of water on the table. And he never came by to see how the food was. Nicholas made it clear that we could not order any appetizers during Happy Hour that would count on the coupon. That’s different from how it worked last time I was here with a coupon. So, does each server get to make their own rules for these coupons? My dining partner got the Grilled Roast Pork Loin($ 18.95) — With sage-roasted fingerling potatoes, sautéed napa cabbage and bok choy, pancetta bacon vinaigrette, pickled beets and horseradish crème fraîche I got the Roasted Chicken Fettuccine($ 18.50) — Pan-roasted squash and zucchini, bacon, artichoke, pulled roasted chicken, roasted bell pepper cream sauce and parm After we ordered entrees, Nicholas said we could now order Happy Hour appetizers, since we ordered entrees. Well, thanks for that. I think that timing was waaay off! The chicken fettuccine was fabulous. Huge pieces of juicy and tasty chicken, an abundance of vegetables and not a pound-ton of fettuccine. Great proportions. It would have been a bit better if the chicken and the artichoke hearts were cut up more in proportion with the other vegetables, so you could get some of everything in one forkful. For dessert, we shared the Granola Apple Crisp($ 7) — Oatmeal granola crust, sliced apple and streusel topping, served warm, topped with cinnamon ice cream with candied walnuts and caramel sauce My dining partner asked for a separate plate, so we weren’t double-dipping. They brought out one plate and one spoon for her. I got nothing. Somehow the concept was lost. I had to use the HUGE serving spoon to eat my dessert. This was really good. Rather deconstructed on the plate — a little of this here, a little of that there. Very attractive. When it came time for to-go vessels, my dining partner wanted to put her own food in her container. So, she asked for him to bring out the containers, instead of boxing it in the kitchen. He absolutely did not want to do that. And it took a bit of talking to accomplish this simple request. I don’t understand why that was so challenging. We both had hefty to-go vessels, once they were brought out for us.

Being a friend/fan of Jimmy’s on the Park, I received a pleasant surprise in my e-mail this week. Jimmy sent me a coupon for $ 10 off a birthday celebration and I took advantage of it this morning enjoying brunch. Brunch is not complete without a Bloody Mary, it is a kick-start to the feast. Jimmy may serve his in a short rocks glass, but it is totally big on flavor. The rim is salted, with a small area not rimmed for sipping. I enjoy spinach, bacon and goat cheese. So when I saw all three combined in an omelet, I had to have it. The omelet was big, fluffy, stuffed and served with a slice of bacon on top. The SO had the Tenderloin Benedict which was flavorful, but skimpy on the Tenderloin. Both were served with breakfast potatoes and and fruit cup. The potatoes were crispy little cubes with grilled onions, but the fruit missed the mark. I love honeydew melon, but theirs was long over due causing the cup to be a disappointment. Timing was a little off today, which is the reason I have removed a star from my original rating. I will not go as far as to say they were rushing us on purpose, but that is how I felt. The service was great, but seemed to have misunderstood that we wanted to enjoy the Salmon, Cream Cheese and Toasted Bagel before our entrees. We barely had them assembled and our main dishes were being delivered to the table. So poor timing and mushy honeydew lost them a star. Being a birthday boy, the delivered a celebration treat with a sparkler letting everyone around know it was my special day. Thank God, there was no singing and clapping.
