If you want a pretentious shopping experience, this is the place for you. I am a huge fan of modern design and was looking for a few pieces to complete our recent office remodel for my business in downtown St. Louis. When I arrived at the store I was greeted by a salesperson named Ron who was very nice. He wasn’t pushy and didn’t follow me around the store but was available for the many questions I had. I spent over an hour browsing and shopping in the store and decided to purchase one chair and go back to my office to measure for several other pieces I wanted to consider — a credenza, some lighting fixtures, a rug and other chairs. I spoke to Ron and asked him if a replica Mies van der Rohe Barcelona chair could be purchased off the floor as I wanted to work on the office decorating over the holiday weekend. He assured me it could and left me to ponder. I decided to go ahead with the purchase and when I approached the sales counter the manager snarkily looked me up and down and told me he refused to sell the chair to me. He told me he had three in stock and I could drive to another location to a warehouse and pick it up. I explained that I didn’t have time to do that and was told that I could purchase the floor model. He told me «too bad» and he didn’t want the hassle of pulling one out of the warehouse to replace the one I would purchase, he would rather inconvenience me. He was so haughty and nasty. He could’ve handled it in a much different way. I told him if I couldn’t buy the floor model I wouldn’t purchase it. His response? «Okay!» and he walked off leaving me there. Wow. I was floored. I am the CEO of two companies in the area and have never treated someone so poorly. He was dismissive and nasty. He treated me as if I was a peon that he didn’t want to trifle with. Even though I badly wanted the chair there was no way I was going to give this company a penny of my hard earned money. A quick internet search showed me there were many online retailers that carried the exact same chair. I’m happy to report I was able to buy this chair online with a 20% discount, no shipping, and no tax. I saved considerably purchasing online and, most importantly, wasn’t treated as if I were a piece of crap. Thanks, House of Denmark, for treating me so poorly that you saved me hundreds of dollars! I’ll also be sure to never, ever come back to your business to purchase anything else… ever!

A super BIG shout out to Grant Thien for outstanding salesmanship. We visited the store to only look for dining chairs to go with a dining table we love elsewhere. We showed Grant the table but told him we preferred to look around at our own pace. He was the perfect salesman, near enough if we wanted to check stock, sociable, no pressure. He knew when to back off and let us discuss things as a family — Good JOB! Well, unfortunately we didn’t really find any dining chairs but we did find some strong possibilities for bar stools. Grant was always far enough away so we didn’t feel hovered over yet near enough so we could get a question answered. Then we found a BDI entertainment unit(for those who may not be familiar — one of the best names in entertainment cabinets) on clearance but the doors didn’t quite look straight. Well we left the store telling Grant we were going to think about these pieces — again, NO pressure, yay. Well we decided to pull the trigger on the entertainment unit if they could fix the doors. Grant wasn’t in that day so we left word for him. He followed through and arranged the delivery on a Saturday, YAY. Delivery was professional, they called to give us a window and lived by it. Grant called later to make sure all was well! A couple of weeks later we decided at 4:30 pm on a weekday, hey, lets go get those barstools! We called Grant and he told us he would check stock as we were willing to go to the warehouse in Chesterfield to get them. He handled EVERYTHING, the sale over the phone, had the warehouse put them together and had them waiting for us on the dock. Warehouse closed at 6pm, we arrived with 15 minutes to spare but they did not act put out and helped us load them in 2 cars. Later Grant called to make sure everything went well. Week or so later, a THANK you card in the mail– WOW. Even though I can’t think of anything else we need right now, I might stop in and peruse the décor items. That’s what happens when you have a GREAT salesman. Thanks Grant Thien!

Cute atmosphere. Stopped by for breakfast. Food was BAD. Cold eggs«cooked» in a dirty ass oven. I guess on the bright side the employees didn’t give us a hard time when we asked for our money back after finding hair in our food. Felt horrible throwing away food but we all lost our appetite seeing how the food was being prepared then finding hair. The desserts looked good & I guess ultimately that’s what they are mainly for. We would’ve been much better off at IHOP for breakfast. My group & I know where not to go for breakfast :(

I came here the other day with my dad to do some furniture shopping. My parents are huge huge fans of this store for good reason. The prices may be a bit high, but you get quality long lasting furniture. I found the most comfy recliner that has great modern design here. I call this store a high end IKEA. Love, love, love the furniture design.

OUTSTANDING!!! Words alone cannot tell the full story of the amazing experience, service and purchase we made recently at House of Denmark. In need of a new conference table for our home office, we finally found exactly what we wanted on the House of Denmark website. A quick call to the store confirmed we were in luck — we could get the table the same day, giving us 48 hours before a big meeting. The Store Manager Chad was helpful, courteous and anything but pushy(a rarity at furniture stores). While delivery was impossible on such short notice, Chad called the warehouse in Chesterfield and arranged everything for a smooth pickup. The House of Denmark warehouse was cleaner than most retail stores — the warehouse staffers were polite, well-spoken and fast, loading the table in no time. When we got the table home, we knew there was assembly required — this wasn’t a beginners piece of furniture. The table had moving parts, a hydraulic base and some exacting requirements. Our attempts at assembly didn’t work. Now we were just over 24 hours from meeting time. I shot Chad an e-mail and got an amazingly fast response by phone. It was Chad’s day off. But he quickly arranged for a service call, to correct our assembly and provided his private mobile number — telling us to call day or night until the issue was resolved. In his words, «We’ll make sure everything is right for your meeting, even if we have to arrange for an emergency delivery and replace the table with a new one.» Wow!!! You simply don’t find this type of service and dedication at all these days. The service team arrived two hours later, made some critical adjustments, and the perfect table was now perfectly assembled. We can’t thank Chad and everyone at House of Denmark enough. About 10 years ago, we had a negative experience with a sales person at the same store. We vowed never to return. Now, we’re glad we gave the store another chance(even if it did take a decade — and the«snooty» salesperson is long gone). In addition to the exemplary service, please take note, House of Denmark is more affordable than you might expect. There was a time when this store was quite pricey. But with so many stores charging higher prices for inferior furniture, House of Denmark’s prices and ultra-high quality furniture make them one of the most amazing values for the dollar in all the region. Combine the value for the dollar and the«bend over backwards, do whatever it takes service» we experienced, and you have a store that knows how to build loyal customers. Great products. Great people. Give this store your business!!! We’ll be back. And we’ll ask for Chad.
