Hannegan’s Restaurant & Pub

Friendly service. We tried the pulled pork sandwich, burger, and salmon salad. Salad was good, fries were tasty! Pork was a bit dry, but good after I ordered some extra BBQ sauce. Great location near the arch and in charming, historic area.

Do I have to give it a star rating?! Ugh!!! So, I brought my family to this restaurant after checking out their website which is linked through the Unilocal app. On the Hannegans website, I saw the specials for Monday night. We were in town for a short visit and wanted to try some St Louis BBQ. When we showed up the place was dead. A huge ass place and No one in the restaurant. Just a couple on the patio. I figured it was probably because it was a Monday night. A waitress outside handed us a dirty sticky menu (ew) and despite that we went inside. I sat down and saw fruit flies at our table. Strike two. Then, My husband asked about the specials. The waitress said we do not have any specials. And my husband continued to ask, explaining how he saw the specials on their website and that’s why we came in for dinner. The waitress still seemed very confused asked if we could show her what we were talking about, so I pulled out my iPhone and pulled up their website and showed her exactly what we saw on their webpage. She was stunned and Confused, she was like that’s our logo and menu. And asked to use my phone to show her manager… the waitress walked over to her manager who was sitting at the bar and showed her my iPhone. After about two minutes of flipping through my phone she handed it back to the waitress. The waitress came back to our table and told us the manager would not honor their specials advertised on their website. She claimed that the restaurant is under new ownership and new management and that website is not updated. My husband was like then we won’t eat here. And they didn’t care to honor their oversight.
Now I am a former bartender & waitress, and I pride myself on loving and taking care of the people in the service industry. With the restaurant completely empty on a Monday night I thought for sure they would’ve given us the five dollar discount for the sampler plate in which we requested and saw advertised on their website. Couldn’t believe this manager not only denied us, but when I got up to walk over to ask her myself, she turned around and walked away. I grabbed my family and I walked out of the restaurant. Unbelievable how this restaurant can make decisions like this and not update their website in a timely manner NOR honor their business misrepresentations. I will post the screen grabs so you can see for yourself. I highly advise patrons to stay away from this establishment and that’s unfortunate. We were really willing to give it a try despite all the other negative reviews about their food.

Good service, thanks Kiersten! Food was fair and atmosphere was pleasant. Pass on the kids pasta, white sauce was tasteless! Fries were fries but Tortilla soup was yummy.

Went there on 7÷17÷15 with four others. The waitress, Ashley, was very attentive. The food was average I had a salad which was mediocre at best, I mean really how can you mess up a salad. Most of my party felt the same about their food. The appetizers on the other hand were above average. Had the wings and fried ravioli. Probably wouldn’t return here.

Great service ! That being said, Artichoke dip; gross. Chicken dip; gross. Lemon Drop Martini; gross. Red wine; old and gross. I saw that your rating on u Unilocal was low but I gave you a try. Sorry.

Should’ve ate the drury inn free food instead of this. Food was not good, atmosphere sort of creepy.

I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was delicious. The two waiters were extremely friendly and the service was quick. I would come here again.

Let me tell you about the women who waited on us on saint pats day. Our food took forever. She refused to serve a Reuben but another bartender did. What the fuck!

Boring. On a hot day, I decided to eat inside. I ordered the Chicken Club wrap. It sounded simple, healthy and delicious. What I received was less than stellar. The ingredients were fresh but flavor was lacking. The chicken was like lunch meat, rather than pieces of chopped breast. It was okay. The ingredients were fresh but again, nothing great.
It was also strange that the greeter was very pushy. We barely got a word out before he herded us inside.
And this sounds a little petty, but we paid in cash and we were shorted our change (which is the better part of a dollar). The server just gave us back cash. So we were confused, do we tip including that money? Our check was only $ 22. Do we ask? Like we pay, we get change. Sometimes I pay a certain way to get coins for parking. It was just strange.
I would not return.

Call me spoiled but … This place needs to step up its game. I ordered the smoked bbq platter not only was it dry and drenched in horrific bbq sauce, my baked beans were under seasoned and the waitress forgot my app. Forgive me as I cannot comprehend how one can mess up «forgetting» a simple app order when there are only 4 people eating «in the entire restaurant «…At least the music is decent and the beer is cold. WOOSAA

We were walking around Laclede’s Landing and stopped by Hannegan’s for a beer and a place to sit. We decided to have some dessert and each chose something different to share.
The beer was cold and the selection was adequate. The desserts were delicious.
As stated in previous reviews, the sidewalk greeter was pushy (paid on commission?) when we just wanted to see a menu.
Can’t speak to the whole menu. Maybe we’ll try it out sometime.

Pretty horrible. One plate had a hair on it, one was dirty, and another was chipped. Our server dropped off our food and we didn’t see her again until it was time to pay the bill. We shared the Wedge salad that was good & the BBQ sampler plate. Pulled pork was decent, baked beans were probably the best thing on the plate and they were lukewarm at best. The slaw had no taste at all & was a strange color. My favorite part was when the server thanked us for our patience while we waited for our check. Would not recommend.

Adequate. Ribs were saucy and meaty, but bland. We were reeled in by a pushy sidewalk greeter but decided we were ready to eat anyway. Our actual server was attentive and the outdoor seating was shady and pleasant. Overall, the place is OK for a convenient lunch when in the area, but it’s not a destination restaurant.

Ate here for lunch on 5÷14÷14. I had a 23 oz Guinness and my wife ordered a pint of Killians. She ordered a Turkey Club and I had a Chicken Club Panini. Her sandwich was great, but both sets of fries and my sandwich came out barely warm. The Panini was tasteless, but the fries would have been very good if they were hot. When we got the bill, I about fell out of the booth! $ 9 for a 23 oz. Guinness?
Never again-​there are too many good joints in St L. to be ripped off with mediocre, luke warm food and outrageous beer prices. Very frustrated when we left!

Convenient, since it’s at Laclede’s Landing, across a parking lot from my hotel. That’s about the only positive thing I can say.
Disinterested bartender. Nasty wings, which I had gotten as an appetizer. They were bad enough that I’ll seek dinner elsewhere. I guess my impulses every other trip to the Lou to not come here were clearly correct…

Excellent service and attentiveness. Fish and chips are and safe choice and the ambiance is breathtaking

My visit came on the last day of the year. Since it was a holiday, like much of downtown, the restaurant was sparsely populated.
I had been visiting the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial & the Gateway Arch. Wanting to grab a bite to eat before hopping on the MetroLink to head back to Scott AFB, I walked a short block past the train station to discover Hannegan’s.
My waitress was one of the few employees selected to work that day. I believe she was working a double shift. A little ditzy perhaps, but not troubling at all. Her service was off a bit, but still adequate.
I ordered a mixed drink and their barbeque sampler platter. The meat was smoked to perfection. I found all of the food provided to be of excellent taste and a good deal for my money.
With other eating establishments in the area, I’m sure I will try one of them on my next visit. That said, I would recommend Hannegan’s to anyone visiting the area.

The beer is served super duper cold and goes down oh so well. This place is huge and the service is friendly enough but the food just did not grab me. We had the cheese dip and both ended up sick later that evening. Pretty sure this was the culprit as it was the only thing we both ate that was the same. With all the places to go in St. Louis-​my venture down to this part of town was really a bust. It seemed dead on a friday night and we got solicited for money from some of the street people. I like Soulard, The Loop, The Hill, all much much better if you are looking for a place to go and have some food and drinks…

I have many favorite places to eat in StL and I will not be adding this place to my list.
Service slow, food ok but could have been better.

OK, this place is in a touristy strip of St. Louis. The area is very quaint looking, but you can tell the competition is fierce. I went here after getting flagged by a fairly aggressive … flagger? I don’t know what you call those people.
Anyway, I went in and ordered BBQ. That’s all I wanted. And some water. I got a glass full of ice and a little water. The BBQ was OK, if a little burnt. I don’t have a problem with the food, actually. But the service was AWFUL. After I got that glass of water and my ribs, the waiter didn’t check on my once. Another waitress nearby was nice enough to get me water (and throw out some ice) and then I waited a long time until I had to get someone to find him so I could pay my bill.
I want to give a shout out to the nice waitress, but really, the waiter I had was horrible and shame on the flagger for luring me into this place and not even checking in on me.
