My fiancé and I just moved to the overland/breckenridge hills area. Today we took a nice stroll through our neighborhood, into«downtown» overland(which is so cute! And chalk full of so much history!!!) to this cute little diner! One lady working the diner bar; talking orders, cooking the food, and cleaning. She was very friendly! The diner is IMMACULATE! It is very clean! The coffee: great diner-coffee $ 0.90/cup Most things come a la carte: with add-on options. It is cash only!!! They have a wide selection of breakfast and lunch/dinner options. I will be back to try the slinger, pancakes, and biscuits and gravy! We ordered a patty melt, chicken strips, French fries, and chilli. The meal: chicken tenders were good, nice breading and crisp. Chili was delish! I see many winter trips for a bowl of chili! Party melt was on point. Fries were good, unseasoned; but you could watch them go straight from the fryer to your Plate and in front of you in no time, salt was easily added while still got enough for it to stick. We will be back!

Yummy!!! I had the biscuits and gravy which were awesome. The gravy was thick and flavorful with plenty of sausage. Biscuits were perfect density to stand up to the gravy without being too heavy. Very friendly staff, very fast service, but bring cash.

George’s Diner is the best diner food around! First off, the staff are awesome; Cindy is the owner and makes every customer feel like a regular! If it’s your first stop in make sure to have the French Toast or the Sandy Stack! The French Toast is the best I’ve had anywhere, just make sure it’s made with Texas Toast! If you are up for it the Slinger is a big hit, Cindy’s chili is awesome. Okay, so if you actually want to eat something other than breakfast you are in luck, the daily specials, i.e. meatloaf, pot roast, roast turkey etc are all hearty and delicious and of course a burger and fries are a traditional treat too!

Had no idea this place was so good! I’m not often in this area, but I’ve driven by before. I had a special with 2 biscuits and gravy and 2 eggs for $ 5.99. The biscuits and gravy were worth every penny to me! The gravy was flavorful with chunks of sausage, and the biscuits were really fresh!

Basic REAL food! Shelled eggs, fresh veggies — cut when you order! One sweet lady is your waitress, cook and cashier. Come with an empty belly and some patience! I’ve eaten at the Boardwalk Café, rated in the top 5 for St. Louis breakfast, and George’s Diner should have been at the top! Great food on the«northern side» of town. Lov’d it!

I love places like this… It’s an old-school hole in the wall with no table seating — only about a dozen or so seats at the counter. The walls are whiteboards — convenient for noting the changing daily specials. Here since time begin(or so it seems), there’s nothing high-brow on the menu. It’s classic diner food with a St. Louis twist. I ordered breakfast and asked for the St. Louis version — with chili. Expecting only a small drizzling of chili, what I received was enough for a meal by itself. If you order something here, make sure you’re hungry because they don ‘t skimp on the food or portions. Overall, it was a decent meal for a reasonable amount of money. The cook worked efficiently; and everything — the freezer, toaster, grill — were within arms reach. All the time she worked she kept up a running conversation with the two or three regulars. The banter was equal parts funny and serious. It’s a cash only business, but does have an ATM squeezed into the small aisle. If you’re looking for classic diner food in a low-key atmosphere, George’s will do nicely.

It is in a very small, cash only joint. They do have an ATM. The chef at 530am is the sweetest person who could have ever served me. She held polite conversation almost as if she was my mother, but my mother did not cook as well. The food was quick and full of flavor. The chili is superb. The biscuits and gravy were savory. Hash browns were the best! They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner so they will have something for everyone! They are no longer 24hrs and the joint is a little rough around the edges. They are a few cents more than Dennys but that is because they taste better.

They know how to cook your hash browns and will put a little onion in, if you ask. I’d say the burgers are the best around. It’s just a bunch of fixed stools around a counter where you watch your food being cooked. They are clean and cheap.

So, I had a craving for a slinger and used Unilocal to help find a local place to get one, leading me to George Rivolo’s Diner. I walked in and was amazed at how small the place was. I counted around 15 seats total. The seats were a bit worn down and could have definitely used some cushions(I actually did hurt my butt sitting down on those things). I browsed through the menu, found my singer(and was disappointed at the up charge to have meat in it). So I watched as the lady behind the counter made my food. While waiting I have to point out how immaculately clean the kitchen was. Having worked in several restaurants I know how much work it takes to keep a kitchen as spotless as this place was and I have to say that alone impressed me and told me that the people who own this place care. Once I got my food I figured, «yep… that’s a slinger». I was slightly disappointed that there wasn’t more chili on it, and I felt that the chili and burger meat could have done with some seasoning. However that being said, it was okay for diner food. Not something I’d go out of my way for, but not something I’d avoid either. If the owner took the time to add a bit more flavor to the food this would be a place worth visiting regularly for me. As it stands though, i can’t really give high recommendation for this place unless you are already in the neighborhood and craving some diner food.

I like George’s diner. I go whenever I’m in town. A granddaughter of the 1931 owner is still manning the grill. The hours have changed since the image of the hours was posted on Unilocal. They are now only open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday. Also Georges is in Overland a suburb of St. Louis about 5 minutes south of the airport. This is a quintessential diner not an acme of diners so hence the 3 stars. Mike

In a greasy spoon Diner that is so good they do not even have a sign, I discovered the«Ultimate post drinking meal» They have a «German Fries»(diced) special that includes sautéed onions and peppers with a choice of meat– BACON!!! Cooked and then diced to mix perfectly. I had my two eggs over medium and she placed it on top so the yolks dripped onto the rest of the ingredients. I added chili(we are in StL) to create a complex concoction of taste sensations that I loved. Each bite had a different taste. The chili they use does not taste like the canned paste like most diners offer. I would eat a bowl of it by itself and be happy. The kicker is to get the cinnamon raisin toast for desert(mop up the plate w/the potatoes). I am nicknaming this«Wookiee” — it is funny gigantic with looks only people that have experienced it can love, but will be there when I need it.
