I stop in here on occasion & take turns between the Deli’s on the hill. The godfather & the meatball On garlic bread is so delicious. The godfather is French bread w Genoa salami, salaciaa, roast beef, pepper cheese, bomber gravy. The meatball sub doesn’t have huge meatballs, they are cut in half, but the flavor is truly the best ive ever had, tender, very very flavorful. The mustard potato salad is delicious & pairs Nicely with the sandwiches . I haven’t had anything else but what I’ve mentioned here but I don’t think you can go wrong with anything you order.,

Simple, but incredibly delicious sandwich. I had the new york style. My first time in, the lady at the counter was very helpful and friendly as well. The prices are also amazing, as are the portions. This makes it hard to pick my favorite Hill sandwich.

Mama Mia! My second order from Eovaldi’s and I am not disappointed. Pizza and pastas are simple and tasty. The sandwiches, the sandwiches, the sandwiches. Great bread, generous servings of meat and veggies. Hands down one of the best sandwiches in the city. Faves: cheese pizza, gnocchi and the turkey sandwich. I will be back!

Quaint family business with a ton of local traffic. We really loved the food. We tried pizza, sandwiches and pasta. They were all amazing.

I was craving a sandwich for breakfast: on the way to another Hill favorite of mine I took a wrong turn and ended up at the corner where this place is located. So I decided to try it. Glad I did: family run hole in the wall place, very friendly, large menu: I ordered the Salsicia plus Meatball sandwich, aka The Daddy: delicious. And huge. It was charming to get a glimpse of their family life: as I waited for my sandwich ‘mom’ dropped off some groceries for the kitchen then settled behind the counter to wait on customers.

Best deli on the hill. Salsicia is amazing as is the meatball sandwich and mufaletta. High quality ingredients. Great prices. Perfect portions. Not much indoor seating but a great old school atmosphere. No b.s. Is the theme of their interior decoration. Great customer service. Definitely worth seeking out this hidden gem. Skip the long lines at the other nearby delis and eat better food as a reward. You deserve it.

Muffuletta is awfully good and the prices are great. Other menu items sound very interesting but I only had the one thing.

I’ll have to try Eovaldi’s again, given the wildly positive reviews. I had clam chowder that tasted like it came from a can, and the Eovaldi Special sandwich wasn’t special at all. Bland and uninteresting. The family running the shop was welcoming and friendly. I’ll give it another try and update this review.

Family owned, mom works the register. Everything is really good, hard to choose. I’m also addicted to their to-go frozen pizzas!

Wow, thanks to Unilocal in finding this gem. I read the reviews for the meatball sub and I wasn’t disappointed. That, and it happened to be their special today making my $ 5 the best money spent. The meatball had a kick to it, which was great. Excellent bread and they offer Provolone to avoid that nasty Provel stuff from sticking to the roof of my mouth. Very nice.

During a recent trip to visit family in St. Louis, my primary culinary goal was to get an authentic sandwich from a deli on The Hill(a famous Italian neighborhood, similar to New York’s Little Italy). After copius amounts of research, several people told me that Eovaldi’s Deli was the best St. Louis had to offer. They didn’t steer me wrong. My authentic sandwich of choice: Hot salami with provolone — There is nothing quite like a well-constructed sandwich. This one was savory, a little spicy and the bread was delicious. If you find yourself in St. Louis, and you’re looking for an authentic Italian deli, Eovaldi’s will not disappoint.

Needed a giant sandwich for a luncheon for work, so I reached out to the Unilocal community on Talk. I’ve never used Talk before, but Unilocalers were happy to oblige and I received several recommendations of places that do big sandwiches and do them well. I went with Eovaldi’s based on their location, the reviews, and the friendliness/helpfulness of the man who answered the phone. It was kismet or something because I had never heard of or met the guy who recommended it, and people I know were recommending places but for some reason I was drawn to Eovaldi’s. On the recommendation of the incredibly friendly and helpful man who answered the phone, I ordered the following: 430″ sandwiches — the special, the extra special, the New Yorker and a turkey. I got a half pan each of potato and pasta salads, a 2# container of their signature olive salad. I also got plates, napkins, etcetera. Serves 30+ and cost around $ 180. Thank you thank you thank you for being so helpful and knowledgeable on the phone! If not for this man I would not have had enough food, the olive salad, or plates, napkins, etc. I had way underestimated what I needed to feed the hungry horde and he set me straight in a very tactful way. The sandwiches arrived saran-wrapped on cardboard and cut into two-inch pieces. As a nice touch, they wrote the name of the sandwich on the cardboard so people would know what they were getting. When I pulled up to the place I was the only customer, but I could tell that they had a lot of orders to prepare already. I was in and out of there in 5 minutes and they carried everything and carefully arranged it in my trunk so it would not get damaged in transit. Oh, I also grabbed myself a bag of their hot BBQ chips to munch on and they were worth a return trip. Not sure the brand name but someone had mentioned them in a review so I had to try. Could not have been a better experience with ordering and/or picking up the food. And there was nothing left but the squeak at the end of the day because people liked the food so much I just left it out after lunch and the«leftovers» disappeared in an hour. Can you even call them leftovers if they don’t make it long enough to hit the fridge?! Regardless, I would not hesitate to recommend Eovaldi’s highly to anyone looking to do an impressive sandwich function and I will definitely use them in the future.

Really good sandwiches. Amy had the New York. Cold & fresh. I had the Chicago Salsiccia. Italian beef, peppers, sausage, great roll. The aux juice was authentic. Absolute return. We also brought home freshly made salami & mild salsccia. Gonna go thru this menu.

The best Italian deli on The Hill. Small and not much to it on the inside but the owners and the sandwiches have earned my loyalty. Upon entering, you head up the the deli counter and order your sandwich. I have only ordered the New York Style Special with Hot Coppa, Genoa Salami and Ham. It comes on deliciously fresh Italian bread and every bite is better than the previous. The quality of meats is top notch. My husband is Italian and quite picky when it comes to delis and anything Italian. He loves this place as much as I do, which says a lot! The lady behind the cash register is a sweetheart and reminds you of your own grandmother. I can’t say enough great things about this place and recommend giving it a try when you are in the area. It doesn’t get more Italian than this place!

THEBESTSANDWICHONTHEHILL! I know. I know. You probably don’t agree because the joy of going to all the deli’s on the Hill is that you find your own and you stick to it like provel to the roof of your mouth. Eovaldi’s is my provel. We live around the corner and this is our go-to lunch on the go. The Extra Special is exactly as it is named, though my husband prefers the hot genoa salami, I stick with the Extra Special. If you didn’t know– the Extra Special Situation at Eovaldi’s is that all their salami is made INHOUSE– this isn’t Boar’s Head– this isn’t Volpi, which most of the other«deli’s» around St. Louis use. Most of them FEATURE Boar’s Head or Volpi’s meats–(unless you go to Volpi’s on the Hill directly) but Eovaldi’s meat is Eovaldi’s! Added Plus: If you ask they will double wrap the sandwiches, which is a perfect carry along for long bike rides around St. Louis. Everything is very well priced and although I don’t ever stay to eat in the minimalistic dining area, I have been known to stop in just to buy Red Hot Riplets– because I have a Red Hot Riplet problem. The family staff is always funny and hospitable and the atmosphere is delightfully small and sort of old-timey. Plus, there isn’t the hubbub that the other deli’s have, which is fine with me– because this is my secret– let the others have subpar sandwiches– I’ve found my roof of the mouth sticking provel and I am never looking back!

Call me a lucky lady, because today I got to enjoy the best Italian sub I’ve ever had. Today was my second trip to Eovaldi’s and it was even better than the last. Parking is a little crazy here just because it’s in the middle of the Hill and the roads are really narrow with traffic coming both ways, so just do the best you can. I went with the risky part-in-front-of-hydrant-and-put-flashers-on move. I always giggle when I see the inside of this place. There’s really nothing to it… shelves on every wall filled with random items, even boxes and stuff that look like they should probably be in the back. The tables and chairs in there are so old, and they remind of of the chairs that my grandma’s old church would use during their bingo games. There’s something to be said about a place like this… it’s really nice to walk into a place that is the complete opposite of pretentious. There’s also a giant cowbell on the door that rings every time someone comes in. Today a younger guy helped me out(I’m sure he’s the son of the owner who was also there) and he helped me construct the world’s most perfect to-go lunch. I wanted soup and he suggested the Vegetable Beef Barley, and I also wanted to try a meaty Italian sub. He walked me through the different types of salami they had, and encouraged me to go with the hot salami, which I did. He then literally went through the list of ingredients I could add, one by one. By the time we were done, I had a hot salami sandwich with provolone cheese, oil and vinegar, lettuce, tomato, and pepperoncinis. I seriously could not stop eating this sandwich! At the register they had peanut brittle for sale for $ 3 that was made by an 80 year old woman that lives next door. It was sitting in little ziploc bags with ribbon. Doesn’t get more heartwarming than that! Amazing Italian subs(and I’m sure full out Italian meals) and genuine, hard working, family employees. Delizioso!

After seeing this place mentioned on a Unilocal list for their beef barley soup, I decided to stop in and try the place since it was close to my bank on the Hill. Michael was at the counter and navigated me through the menu as well as their frozen offerings. He couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful! I decided to go with their ½ soup and ½ sandwich combo for 6 bucks. I got the salsiccia sandwich(split salsiccia with marinara and provolone) and their salsiccia chili. The chili alone is worth going out of your way to try. I thought it was a perfect blend of meat, red beans(not kidney beans), sauciness, and just enough spiciness; everything seemed well balanced and proportionate in both flavor and size of ingredients. A hearty champion indeed! The bread the sandwich came on was so freaging good; chewy and soft all at the same time, and you could actually taste the sesame flavor the seeds lended. The piece of split salsiccia was fresh, had plump texture, and authentic Italian seasoning(plenty of fennel seed!). Provolone cheese and a drizzle of marinara topped it off. The cheese was good, as was the marinara, but I would have liked to have a little more sauce on my sandwich(totally personal preference). I think the balance would have been just right for most people. Important to note, is that they have a list of 11 cheeses to choose from, as well as a whole host of «toppings» I could have added as well – a customizable meal! I got my order to go and everything was still warm by the time I got back to the office, which was very much appreciated on this chilly winter day. I ate the half sandwich and part of the chili and was too full to continue. Needless to say, I am REALLY excited about the leftover chili I’ll be having for lunch tomorrow! They have a good sized menu of sandwiches, both cold and hot, as well as salads, pasta, and sides. They carry Coke and Fitz’s beverages, as well as brew fresh iced tea. You can get Dad’s oatmeal cookies and a few other treats, including frozen Snickers bars. This is probably not the place to go if you are watching carbs or calories. There are a few vegetarian options, but I didn’t see anything vegan-friendly. They also have frozen pastas, speidini, pizzas, etc. and provide options for catering. I did happen to purchase a whole frozen brusilone they made in-house for only about $ 8.50. Stay tuned on how it turns it!
