Poor service. Their margaritas were overpriced and tasted like a bad mix. I don’t plan on going back there ever. Plenty of other Mexican places that are far better than this.

Awful. Everything was fine until the food came out. I wasn’t brought what I ordered. I told the server and he said, «you’re right, but this is good you’ll like it» and then walked away… He didn’t come back for a long while later. It wasn’t what I wanted. Then he also tried to charge me for the dish, which was more expensive than what I ordered, and so I had ask for it to be switched. At the end I paid for the meal I wanted, but never got to eat it.

I recently ate at El Burro Loco before attending a show at the Fox Theater. My friend’s husband was craving Mexican and this was on my bookmarks list, so we went. It was a Saturday night and busy but not packed. It’s a large place, but the parking situation in the CWESTINKS! I don’t go there often because of it. However, I braved it and got a great spot. Score. The service here was excellent, over the top friendly and accommodating. We started with chips and salsa and were brought some complimentary queso, which was delicious. Who doesn’t like queso? The chips were good, too. I got a tamarind margarita — I love tamarind, and so I chose it out of MANY flavors. They also have hugely sized margs here, so bring a DD if you’re wanting to brave that. I got the small size and it was good. And strong. I got a combo plate for my meal — you can choose any 2 or 3 items(tacos, burritos, tamales, chalupas, enchiladas, etc) and they come with beans and rice. I got the cheese enchilada and a bean chalupa. I liked the enchilada a lot. The chalupa I think was not prepared right. It was supposed to come with several things on it, and ended up being lettuce and beans. No cheese or guac, as described. I liked the beans and rice too and it was enough for me. I also appreciated that it came with sour cream. There were mariachi singers coming around when we were there, which added to the quite cheesy but fun atmosphere. Overall it was a good experience! I plan on coming back soon.

I work next door and come here almost every night after work. The staff is SO friendly and inviting and I can’t resist coming in if I pass by. I love getting my traditional Mexican order, but it’s a great place to try something new also. Pastor fajitas and the nachos are great… And the quesadillas… And the enchiladas… And the margaritas… Are you sensing a theme yet? 5 stars for life.

This place was the bomb! On a Saturday night we were able to get in with only a short wait. You can’t go wrong with strong drinks, great chips and salsa, and good food with big portions. Can’t wait to come back!

I enjoyed the décor the most. It was definitely different than that of the other restaurants I’ve been to. You can tell these guys have a sense of humor. Now about the food: Maybe it’s just me, but the salsa was really salty. Flavorful, but salty. Their wings: really salty. The soup with the jumbo shrimps in it? Flavorful, but again, really salty. Maybe it was salt shaker gone wild day? I sure hope so.

I’ve only been here a handful of times but I’ve never left disappointed. The margaritas are delicious. During the spring or fall, if you want to sit outside and drink margaritas, this is the place to be. The food is also very good!

Great find! Great food, good service and perfect location. We ordered sangria, fajitas and vegetarian enchiladas. Went here with my fiancé and thoroughly enjoyed the dinner.

What an awesome addition to my neighborhood! This isn’t your typical mexican fare like the #3 speedy gonzalez or whatever the run of the mill places serve. They have a diverse multi page menu of unique dishes that have all been excellent in my experiences. The house made guacamole is also excellent and the staff is attentive and make the whole dining experience fun. BIGBONUS — Modelo on draft, yum! It’s a huge restaurant so try it whenever and you’ll be able to find a spot.

Great guacamole, quick to be seated at lunch. Loved the huge loaded nachos. Satisfied my Texan mom’s craving for Tex-mex, which is a tall order.

The best salsa around!!! Not to mention the margs actually taste like tequila. The chile relleno not so good. The service is pleasant and you definately see they work together not like most places. .also when you order a taco make sure to specify a corn tortilla. The flour tortilla is nit a taco

You cannot go wrong by coming here. The margaritas were tasty and the food was even tastier. Parking can be a problem but you can use another restaurant’s valet parking if need be. We started with the Cadillac margarita which went down easily. Mike ordered the enchiladas and I chose the tamales. I did not taste Mike’s but judging by the empty plate it was good. My tamales were wonderful and I don’t know how they did it, but even the rice and beans were tasty. I would definitely come back here again. There’s another margarita with my name on it.

I loved this place, but to be fair, there were drinks involved. Came here one night for Girls’ Night and their jalapeño margaritas were huge and yummy(definitely better than the sugary stuff offered at Tortillaria!). We sat outside and enjoyed some live mariachi music while we chatted. The menus are shaped like little tacos, which is cute — weren’t too hungry for food but will update once I eat there!

This place was so cheesy, but I loved it! The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. I think I have had comparable service only at 5-star places and this was a much more casual restaurant. The menu was large(including the 5 or so options for margarita flavors!!). I got the flautas, and while they were fine, they were not especially good. I would order something else the next time. The food was mediocre(for me — my husband rather liked his platillo), but the fun to be had at the restaurant would definitely make me a repeat customer – –Like I said the service was phenomenal –There was a mariachi band that came and serenaded our table. What a treat! –Shot girls were passing around free samples of tequila(que loco!) –The place’s decorations were colorful and fun and sitting inside or out is equally awesome For an awesome fun time with okay food, this place takes top prize.

The chicken soup is very good. Avocados and pulled chicken and carrots and yucca. So tasty and satisfying. Impressed with the portion size particularly of the generous number of jumbo shrimp in the fajita. Really don’t think the margaritas are good. We sent back the Cadillac and tried the hibiscus jalapeño and weren’t impressed with that either. The willow rice and retried beans and guacamole that come with the fajita are very good though. Very thematic restaurant with a mariachi band and sombreros and the works, I’d you’re into that. The salsa is better than most though the chips werent even warm

This has to be one of the happiest restaurants to go to in St. Louis. If you’re feeling down, come here with some friends or even by yourself and you’re bound to feel better after, alcohol or not. I’ve been here a couple of times, and the most recent time was for my girlfriend’s birthday celebration with a relatively big group of people(10+). There are no better restaurants to go to for festive occasions than Mexican restaurants, and el Burro Loco is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area. There were two people going around from table to table singing and playing Mexican songs, some more recognizable than others. My girlfriend didn’t want them to know it was her birthday but someone at the table told them and later on in the night they came to our table and gave us maracas and put sombreros on everyone’s head and sang and played music. They even gave her a shot of tequila. The atmosphere was great. I’ve been to Mexico a couple of times and this place feels like you’re in Mexico. Happy people all around! Can’t help but put a smile on your face. The food is very good and tastes authentic. Even with a large group of people, the food came out super fast. If you’re here to drink there are plenty of options. Plenty of margarita options made both on the rocks and frozen. And of course… tequila shots! The one slight negative is that they messed up someone’s drink order, but that is understandable since there were a lot of people in our party.

We will go back! Freshest chile relleno in town. We went on Saturday about 6p with my two kids and husband. We ordered a pitcher of Cadillac margaritas which were surprisingly citrus tasting. Chips are a little thick for my hubby. We had the table side guacamole, which was okay. My hubby got the pork burritos which he said were okay but he would probably order something else the next time. The kids got quesadillas and elota(corn). I got the combo with chile relleno and enchilada. The chile relleno was so fresh! The best I have had in St. Louis. Also, we asked and they do serve horchata — another one for the plus column. I also agree with many commenters, the staff was really good. They were very quick to complete requests for booster seats and other extras. We will go back for sure as it is the closest Mexican place to our house and we did find some gems in the menu.

My girlfriend and I went for lunch on St. Patrick’s Day. .. thinking this would be a good day to go. We were first seated in the«sun room,» but there was an AFLAC presentation going on in the middle of the room with a huge table, so my girlfriend asked for us to be seated elsewhere. And we got a nice table in the interior. Nice atmosphere. All the walls are sponge painted different colors that blend well with the art. Don’t bother going to the website. St. Louis is not even listed. We got warm chips and two vessels of salsa immediately, which helps on the double-dipping situation. The salsa was tasty, tangy and chunky. The chips were salted perfectly. My girlfriend ordered guacamole for us to share, and it came quickly. So we enjoyed that along with our chips. Gads, was that guac tasty. Pretty chunky. With onions and tomatoes. The menu(shaped like a taco) is huge in offerings. We both went for the lunch combo($ 7.99). My girlfriend got a chicken enchilada and a beef«uh-oh, I forgot.» I got a beef chalupa and a cheese enchilada. They both came on large platters with beans and rice, and some nice accoutrements of lettuce and skinned tomato. I’m not usually a beans-and-rice person, but these tasted especially good. The beans had a nice melted cheese on top. The rice was reddish, so something was added to it, which enhanced the flavor a lot. The enchilada was full of gooey cheese. And the chalupa, even though covered with plenty of sauce and other rather watery things, remained crisp, and there was a generous amount of ground beef. The food was deliciously fresh. Service was attentive. We both had a generous to-go vessel of another meal.

El Burro Loco, is a new Mexican restaurant located in the former Pasta House on North Euclid in the Central West End. Since I am in walking distance, I have seen work happening on this place for sometime and have been looking forward to the opening. I had a chica in town from Toronto, so we were pleased with the idea of catching up over heavily poured tequila drinks and not needing to catch a cab back to the crib! We arrived an hour before closing so we knew whatever we did it would need to be quick. Immediately we took a look at the menu. It’s in the cool shape of a taco; one side is a list of drinks and the other side is the food items. So you know what we did right? You guessed it, right to the drinks side!!! The wait staff was extremely attentive. They explained the difference between all the drinks and I chose to go with organic tequila in a drink called Chupacabra Margarita. My waiter said he would make it «extra good» for me and boy he must have. I’m a lightweight when it comes to alcohol anyway and after two sips I knew it was going to be a good night(I could hear the new Pitbull & Né-Yo song — Time Of Our Life playing in the back of my head«I’ma gonna get loooooose tonight» ). We received standard chips and salsa and it was good. Nothing amazing but definitely not the worst I have had. We put our orders in and then all of a sudden a bunch of people just came in. The staff went to work — it was way busy for Thursday night(I guess because the weather had just broken and we were all tired of being in the house). Food came really quickly. I ordered a two-taco fish platter that came with refried beans(no pork or beef in them) and rice(flavorful and season well but included peas and carrots). I was happy to see they’d already added the lettuce to the taco instead of just giving me a bed of lettuce; also, the sour cream and guacamole that I ordered on the side came in little warm containers and were very plentiful and they didn’t skimp on them like other places do. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned well, though a tad bit salty for my liking. Overall, the food was flavorsome and the drinks were generously poured. They even stayed open later as more people came in near to closing time. I have a strong love of Mexican food so I try to spread my dollars around but I will undoubtedly be back. My birthday happens to fall near a huge Mexican holiday and I’m sure this place will be packed; it’ll be packed in the summer and it’ll be packed in general because of the attentive service and good food. Get a drink and bring a friend!!!
