I tried a lobster taco. You should also try the lobster taco! Man, it is so good, especially with the lightly fried tortilla for some crunch. I did pick off a little bit of the cilantro because I would prefer it chopped up a bit, but that didn’t slow me down. Sorry, no pic because it didn’t last long enough!

I had my second fish taco ever at Cha Cha Chow when I was at BJC the other day. It was a good fish taco and very fresh. I like the red cabbage topping as well. Although it was kinda pricy — $ 4.50 for ONE taco and a bottled water.

It’s been a little while since I been here and the food is delicious. Got them at Creve Coeur park and had one of each tacos. They are small, 3 for $ 10. But with the fries it is very filling. Cheeseburger was much better than I imagined. The red cabbage cuts through the cheesy beef very well. The Yadi Hottie is chicken and was tasty with slight heat. It was just on the edge of being dry, but wasn’t. The sweet potato one was quite spicy for my taste. It was good and there was plenty of salsa verde. My favorite was the cheeseburger one. The others were also good. I had to get the fries too and they did not disappoint. They are super crispy, hit, yet tender inside. They are not too thin but also not too thick. They have tasty seasoning on them and the spicy ketchup is the extra that makes it excellent. If you see this bright yellow truck at lunch, go! If you see it at a food truck event with many options, this is a solid choice with extremely flavorful and delicious tacos. The team working the truck was also super nice. I took the food home and they provided me a cover for the trays!

Yum yum yum! Mexican comfort food. Simple and delicious. This was one of many food trucks parked outside Union Station hotel during Shutterfest, and the ONLY food truck with a line when I came out to get dinner. That should speak for itself. I split the chicken verde tacos with my friend, and they were delicious. The chicken was very moist and tender and the cheese and salsa verde were a perfect compliment. The fries were awesome too. There’s nothing super special or unique about the food, but like I said, it’s simple, Mexican comfort food, and it gets the job done!

I tried this food truck during the September Food Truck Friday event at Tower Grove Park. Between my husband and I, we had two tacos from this truck. Grilled fish taco This had some kind of fish on a white corn tortilla with their creamy cha cha sauce, and cilantro lime slaw. I asked the lady taking orders what kind of fish it was, but I can’t remember what it was called. She said that it was similar to tilapia but with less of a fishy taste. This taco was on the small side, but it was only $ 3, so I think it was worth it because it was flavored well and I enjoyed it. Lobster taco This taco featured butter poached lobster, lemon cream cheese sauce, and salt and pepper slaw, and was topped with cilantro and on a flash fried tortilla. This was sooooo delicious! Granted, it was pricey, but come on! Lobster. Taco. Need I say more?! Try it out! The lady taking orders was patient with me asking my questions and the food came out quickly. I had a good experience with this food truck and I liked both of the tacos we tried!

I’ve had all the taco’s at Cha Cha Chow except the chicken(I’ll get it next time) and I really like everything I’ve tried. Hands down the beef shortrib is my favorite — it has red cabbage slaw and a creamy sauce on top. The meat has a great flavor… yum! The sweet potato was probably my least favorite, it wasn’t bad by any means just wouldn’t get it again when the other offerings are so good. The fish and pork tacos were both good too! Everyone I go with always subs fries for the standard side so I’ve followed their lead — the fries are super seasoned and served with their homemade ketchup. They are good but the $ 1.50 upcharge(pretty sure that’s correct) is a little steep. My next trip I’ll be getting the burger, it looks amazing. Also I’ve gotten the agua fresca and that is one thing that makes this truck really special — it’s a fruit water made with fresh fruit and really delicious! This truck is usually a bit short of a mile away from my work and I like to make the walk to get the food, so that speaks for itself I think!

What a great start to the weekend! I had to stop by the Firebird to pick up some tickets, so I took off from work a little early today. I pulled into the venue parking lot only to find a taco truck parked by the offices nearby! Hallelujah! However, this was no ordinary taco truck. It was Cha Cha Chow! I wandered down to the truck and perused the menu. I was taken back by the prices! The cheapest combo with fries was nine dollars! If you like beans, and I don’t, the combos start at $ 7.50. I went back to car, uncertain whether to pull the trigger on this taco truck. I got on my Unilocal app and looked at the product. For nine bones, the portions didn’t seem all that impressive, but one of the my friends really dug Cha Cha. So I gave into my desires and got the smallest frie combo. Yes, the portions were nothing of great significance. I got two pork tacos with fries. The tacos were almost immediately wolfed down. I mean annihilated. The pork wasn’t anything special, but the barbeque sauce was dynamite! It was mustard based, so there was a tangy kick! What sold me was the fries. They were covered in garlic, spices, and possibly angel’s tears. They were soooo good! I had to follow through with the camp value of a taco truck. I don’t know if I’d run to it again, but the food is pretty tasty. I might not be able to fight the urge!
First of all let’s talk for a second about how awesome it is that you can rate a mobile restaurant, because the reality is, it could be ANYWHERE and it would be awesome. Second the food truck is one of the greatest idea’s man has ever had right behind electricity, the light bulb, and adding bacon to anything. So 4th place is pretty good. Cha Cha Chow pulled up to my office today, excitement and my mouth water almost overwhelmed me. I walked down and ordered the fish tacos. First of all ordering anything through a window increases the appeal of it. Then probably the second best fish tacos I’ve had in St. Louis show up on some corn tortillas with some fresh slaw and delicious sauce. 2 in a basket, but I probably could have eaten 15. They also had this delicious berry drink in tub in front of the truck which I also got and I highly recommend. Let’s recap. Food truck, one of man’s greatest ideas. Cha Cha chow, epic fish tacos. Mobile eats, can’t beat it!

My dog, Buddy, was bored and was giving me the boo boo face. i had to go downtown to pick up a couple gifts i had ordered. Buddy and I walk from 10th street to the food truck that was located on Broadway and Locust on 4−19−12. I ordered the Cuban sandwich, grilled fish taco, and a Mexican iced coffee. Buddy ordered a bottle of water. Then, as i am not really that familiar with where things are actually located. I walked back up Locust to a little park like area across from Culinara. Buddy was really happy to get a drink of water. Yes, my dog is odd and will only drink water from a bottle when we are out places. The sandwich was very good. The pulled pork was moist and nicely flavored. the fries were good. i liked the seasoning on the fries. the ketchup i thought was supposed to be spicy but didn’t taste like it. it tasted like regular ketchup. the grilled fish taco was good but so not worth $ 3. the Mexican coffee was OK. i wish it was a little sweeter. i don’t need alot of sweet. I could barely tasted the spicy flavor of the coffee. altogether, i would order from the truck again. it was good. i would not get the tiny tacos unless i am wanting to order a taco platter.

I really love the food truck culture, and I’m happy to see it gaining some ground in St. Louis. I’ve been following Cha Cha Chow on Twitter and when I spotted them one day near Barnes Hospital I had to go for lunch. The guy at the counter was really friendly, which is nice to see, and the service was fast. I ordered The Dos(two taco platter for I think around $ 7) with the Yucatan Pulled Pork taco, the Curried Sweet Potato taco, and a side of Fiesta Corn Salad. Both tacos were pretty good with unique flavors, and the Fiesta Corn Salad was especially good. Overall it was a good lunch and it’s definitely worth a try, but it wasn’t «holy cow!» amazing. When presented with the choice between Cha Cha Chow and other trucks like Pi or Holy Crêpe! I might gravitate toward another offering.

I tried the Cha Cha Chow tacos when I was really hungry and heading to the medical school for a seminar. If you’re willing to spend the money, then you’ll be a fan of this truck. The meat was good and the sauce was delicious. The service was super fast and friendly too! They made me feel good about ordering from them. I ordered and got the food in less than 5 minutes. My biggest problem with this place? The food tasted great but it was 7 dollars for approximately 5 large bites. Not good enough for me. Maybe i’m just a glutton.

I love these guys and wish I could see them over in the Central STL region! They are so popular, the line is always long, but here’s the kicker — it is still one of the fastest moving lines of any food truck I’ve ever seen! You must try the Short Rib Tacos! They are so tender, they just melt in your mouth, and the flavors on this taco are unique!

I’ve managed to despise every food trend that has ever existed. Until food trucks. Quick, simple, and usually shitty food served out of the side of a freaking truck!!! YES. It doesn’t get much more convenient than that. I’m more of a fan of food trucks when they are parked outside of a bar at 2AM than when they are parked outside of an office building at noon, but ya know, I can adapt. I also love food trucks because of their enthusiasm. You can’t work on a food truck and not be happy. It’s just not possible. And those people work so hard. And I love watching people work hard. Combine these things with the fact that food trucks create such a demand because it’s not McDonald’s, you can’t have it any time you want it, and poof, I’m hooked. Make someone work in order to patronize your business, or make your business elite/underground/rare and it’s more like CHACHACHING!!! FINALLY got ahold of the this truck at Food Truck Friday and was BLOWN away. A bunch of smiley ladies were hanging out the side of the truck, efficiently handing out these odd cone-shaped things. I had no idea what it was, but the packaging was enough to make me want one. GENIUS move, not for the portability factor, but for the interest factor. 6 bones and the cone was mine. It felt nice to eat dinner out of something resembling Madonna’s chest. This taco was, quite simply, one of the best foods I’ve ever eaten. I don’t know what the Hell was in it and I don’t care. It’s a taco from a food truck. I actually don’t want to know what’s in it. Some sort of breaded or fried chicken, cilantro, some sort of creamy sauce. It was soooooooo good. *Slightly* dry and salty, but otherwise, divine. So good, in fact, that after MONTHS of pining after and internet stalking all the food trucks in St. Louis, I blew off all the other food trucks and came back here for a second Walking Taco(please don’t judge me). $ 6 a pop was a little steep, but this is clearly high quality food. I could have eaten 3 more of those tacos, though. These guys are competing to be on some TV show and I’m about to say something that is going to make them spit in my taco next time: I hope they don’t get on the TV show. That’s right, I said it. I’m a selfish bitch and I know what happens to businesses once they are featured on a TV show. Don’t do it, Cha Cha!!! I’m considering getting a real job just so that I can have a chance at eating Cha Cha for lunch. If Cha Cha hired a night crew and parked outside of a bar I were drinking at, I could easily spend a small fortune on cone tacos. If the shit you get at Taco Bell tastes that good when you’re drunk, eating Cha Cha Chow tacos when you’re drunk would probably be like eating chocolate covered ecstasy. I want Cha Cha NOW. (P.S. I love the name of this business. It really fits with how excited they are about their damn tacos. And also how excited I am about their damn tacos.)

Had the vegetarian special, spicy lentil tacos, today. Maybe Cha Cha read my previous review suggesting another vegetarian option? Anyhow, they were AMAZING, with fiesta corn salad and slaw on top, a perfect crunch and so flavorful! Not too spicy either because I’m a wimp. Topped it off with some fries and an agua fresca. YUM! Ps, Cha Cha, please make this a regular menu item!

UPDATE: Since my last post I have tried EVERY variation of taco and still think the grilled fish and BBQ pork are the best. I also tried the cuban sandwich — which was delicious — but not as light and refreshing as the tacos. I’ll get it again, but knowing that it is a lot heavier/more filling. Also, those fries? OMG they are good. And the aqua fresca never disappoints. Best flavor I’ve had is the Mango Basil! Yes, it is $ 2, which is pretty steep but when the alternative is water or soda or sugary/processed fruit drinks, I think it is worth it. Also, service is super friendly and super fast. I can’t say enough good things about this group.

The CCC was outside my work today, so I decided to play errand boy for the beautiful wife and grab lunch. I checked their menu online, consulted with the wife on what she wanted, and headed out to the truck. I also, just on a whim, checked their Twitter and saw they took credit/debit cards with Square. There was a line of four people in front of me, and maybe 3 – 5 people waiting for their food. The orders went quickly, then much to my disappointment, I first saw a sign saying they only take credit cards for orders of $ 15 or more and the menu had changed(the wife wanted their quarter chicken platter, which is no more). I went with a Cuban and a three taco platter(pork, short rib, and chicken). Originally I had wanted the curried sweet potato, but they were out of that(which basically meant vegetarians were screwed. Maybe they have a salad but really, who wants to always eat salad?) Both platters, I believe, mentioned having beans(which I was hoping for the corn), and the Cuban also mentioned an «orange.» And despite my bill coming out to «only» $ 14.50, they still allowed me to use my credit card. Whew. The food took about 10 minutes and they have foil to put on top(thank goodness, the winds are gusting today). I ventured home with food in hand. Upon the unfoiling, we discovered their fiesta corn and no beans(never mind the brown Mexican rice which is on their online menu). The Cuban was OK(the sauce/mustard? was too sweet). The tacos were OK, but everything just tasted sweet to me, even though officially, only the short rib has the«Cha Cha sauce.» Obviously, I had not read Jen H.‘s review and thought these were going to be closer to traditional(lime/cilantro). I will add that the fellow who took my order was nice, though a bit rushed. Which was understandable due to the line. If I ran into them at 2:00AM, they’d be five stars. But alas, I’m sober, so I’ll generously give them three stars(really more 2 ½, but I’ll kick them up for investing the time and effort in having a food truck that visits Downtown).

Let’s talk about how freakin’ amazing Cha Cha Chow is, shall we? On a pretty day such as today, there is nothing better than walking to a food truck with really cheery girls behind the counter and ordering your weights’ worth in tacos, or sandwiches, or salads, or any of the other surely delicious things being offered, then devouring them with great speed. It’s hard to decide what to order, so I’ll tell you what I had: the strawberry agua fresca(wonderful, real fruit, blessedly without sugar), the Yucatan Pork tacos(tomatillo sauce and fresh white corn tortillas – divine), black beans(mmm) and curried sweet potatoes(OMG). Everything was fresh, seasoned really well(read: just spicy enough), and just totally satisfying. The only reason that this place gets 4 stars from me is because it took a full half hour to order our food and receive it. Come early – the lines get long quickly! It’s not the most time-friendly lunch spot in the world, but who cares? It’s so good. Worth the wait, definitely. Tracking the truck’s whereabouts on Twitter is fun(@whereschacha) – sometimes, they’ll give you a ‘secret code’ to mention and you can receive prizes! I scored a drink koozie today. Win. I’m just so impressed with this place. If this is what the food truck trend brings to St. Louis – great food with great prices, accessible to all – then bring it on. What a great time to be here!
