Great little place to kick back, enjoy one of their many beers & watch a game. I’ve been there many times & will definitely return.

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a Blues game over the holidays with some StL hombres. What a place! Full disclosure I am a grade A soccer nerd so the décor is on point. Delicious beer selection served with a smile. Ambiance? Excellent. Nice group of people taking in EPL and Blues hockey, nary a meathead in sight. I got a chili dog from next door that SO hit the spot… Another place I would definitely be a regular if I lived in StL. Cheers to the bartenders at Amsterdam Tavern!

I love the Amsterdam. I love all the bartenders, the owners, the fact that they carry my gluten free beer, and all the sports and fun clientele make it a great place to spend a few hours.

Can’t ask for much more than this from a soccer pub. I’ve been for a few games and it is an amazing atmosphere for watching a game. A good location, fair number of beers on tap, reasonable prices, somewhat limited seating, and right next door to The Dam. Lots to like about this place but I won’t fault someone who doesn’t like a cramped standing-room-only place to watch a game. If you’re a soccer fan then this is your place, if you’re into other sports you may want to go to The Post.

I decided to give 3 stars just so my true review may stay on the front page. They apparently manipulate the Unilocal system. One star for an excellent beer selection. Kudos. One star for a great cider selection. Bravo. One star for affiliating yourself to the little burger joint next door called The Dam. Truly friendly staff at that place and really good old fashioned diner burgers. As for the service at Amsterdam Tavern? Boo. Very poor. We rode our bikes from the CWE based on the good reviews that the owner apparently pushed forward, and we will not go back. We stayed for one football game of our favorite team. The game went into overtime and we were so over this place that we chose to leave rather than watch the excitement of the game. There were people Going behind the bar serving themselves and others. Maybe they were bartenders I couldn’t really tell. They wouldn’t come to our table to take an order or clear an empty bottle. Thanks but no thanks. This place is horrible at customer service. Like seriously the worst.

We went there because of the reviews on this site. Wow, horrible experience. Our first and only time and just went in to watch an NFL game we could not get at home. Never greeted or acknowledged by any of the 3 bartenders(I think 1 was an owner) that had little to do but sit at the bar, drink beer and talk with their friends. Basically a perpetual college frat environment which is fun when you are 20 but later in life when you are trying to run a business in a highly competitive market it is just sad. You have to go up to the bar to get your own drinks since they will not come to your table to ask if you want another drink or to clear old bottles and glasses that is up to you the«self serve» customer to take care of. First time I went up to the bar to get us drinks the bartender in the orange«Dawg Pound» T-shirt just came up and stared at me… I took this as my cue to order and did so(I had a strong impression from him that I was deterring him from quickly responding to his vastly important text messaging session he was was involved in). He brought the drinks and stated the amount. For some reason I tipped him a couple of dollars. He took them with not so much as a grunt of acknowledgement. Next order I had the very same experience with him but I saved the tip to reward myself instead of his lazy, apathetic behavior. Amsterdam Tavern has set forth a «self serve» policy and attitude at this place so that the bartenders can maintain their social pursuits; talking to their friends at the bar, texting and drinking beer all while occupying one the very few available bar stools and eating Imo’s pizza on the bar(right under a large sign that says«No Outside Food Allowed» LOL). Apparently you have be a hard core soccer fan or a friend of one of the bartenders to get noticed or basic service here. All of this is unfortunate because they have a great craft beer selection and a very nice, large outdoor patio area. However, when you have management/ownership that leads from the rear instead of the front this dysfunctional type of business happens. Needless to say we will not be back. There are far better choices in STL run far more professionally. Textbook example of why so many small businesses fail.

If you know me at all then you probably know I’m not a big sports guy. My lack of ball-sport fervor results in me steering away from most sports bars. However, Amsterdam is way more than«most sports bars.» It’s not only an epic drinking spot but has an amazing patio and food delivered by The Dam just next door. It’s the perfect bar for a casual night out with friends, especially if you’re looking for a killer patio. It’s your best choice for going out on Morgan Ford and if you’re looking for a hype crowd to watch the cards or your favorite soccer team than this is your place. They have plenty of flat screens on their outdoor patio where you can hang with your friends while you wait for a fat burger from The Dam. Plus, they also have a great selection of local and not so local brews to choose from. I’ll be coming back soon enough.

Amsterdam is the neighborhood bar type. It’s a large space, including an outdoor patio, but is also cozy and inviting. I like to order some food at The Dam and come sit in the bar for my drink and wait for the delivery. There’s always great local beers on tap, so you can stick with your usual, or venture for new flavors. The bartenders are friendly, smile, and helpful if you’re not quite sure what you’re looking for that day/night.

I like reading that this is the best soccer bar in the area. It really is true. However, that doesn’t do it justice. Amsterdam is just the best bar in the area period. From the friendly and attentive staff to the phenomenal atmosphere I can’t say I’ve had this much fun anywhere else. I’ve had no problem going there by myself and ending up leaving having made some great new friends. I can’t recommend this place any higher.

Best place to watch a football(soccer) match in all the land! Cozy and full of memorabilia from all over. Open as early as 6am for all Premier League games. Just get there early for World Cup games.

We’re part of a group called American Outlaws, which has over 180 chapters all over the country. We decided to stop here because this is AO St. Louis’ bar. When you walk in, there’s ALL sorts of soccer memorabilia ALL over the place, which I LOVE! The bar has old jerseys from USA national team players like Dempsey, Beasley, etc. There are scarves and flags above — VERY cool! At first when you walk in, you think this is a very small bar, but step out into the patio, and there’s lots of space! There’s a setup for an outside bar as well. We were also pleased to see the local chapter’s banner hung on the patio. I only gave three stars because of the hard cider selection. I know, it’s not a common drink, but there are quite a number of bars who will have at least 4 different kinds. This bar only had two, Magner’s(yuck) or a local brew. I tried the local brew, and I didn’t like it. It had a funny aftertaste. Next time, I’ll have to try something different!

This is the place to watch soccer. We headed there to watch the US Womens soccer game. We arrived an hour and a half before game time and were able to grab the last table inside. But they have a huge, covered beergarden out back, and there was plenty of room there even after the game started. The bar area can get pretty packed but the bartenders are keen about spotting you if you are empty. A couple of negatives, the beer was a little warm… I assume the reach-in cooler was having a tough time keeping up with the large crowd. We decided that getting buckets of beer worked better since that beer was kept on ice at the table. The only other thing I didn’t like is that the cocktails come in cheap plastic picnic cups. …but don’t let these negatives dissuade you. The fun crowd and atmosphere easily makes up for it.

Best place to watch soccer! Small narrow inner bar area with larger outdoor patios. The inside fills up quickly so get there early before matches. They don’t serve food but you can go next door to the Dam and order food. The wait staff will bring it over to you.

Awesome place to watch soccer or to hang out and enjoy a beer if around Tower Grove. The place to be to watch Premier League or the USMNT. Large outdoor patio in back. You can order food next door and they will deliver it to you inside the bar. Large crowds gather early on Saturday and Sunday mornings so definitely a place to check out if you want to meet up with other soccer fans.

Stopped in for a soccer game with my brother. Lots of soccer memorabilia on the walls, a few TV’s make it easy to find a seat to watch the game. Very cool that a crowd can be found in the morning. If your a big soccer fan, this place is probably more like home than any place you can imagine. It did remind me of some of the truly local pubs in England. Service was a bit surly and indifferent. Prices were reasonable. I probably won’t be back.

This is my favorite bar in my neighborhood. Great place to watch sports especially soccer. Always a good variety of beers on tap with plenty super local brews. The outdoor scene is really cool in the summertime and all the bartenders are super friendly. Plus it’s next door to The Dam. You really can’t lose.

This is the #1 place is STL to watch soccer! Great prices on drinks… Awesome food next door… And the beer garden is insane for a US game… I just found out about this place a couple of weeks ago and it’s already my #1 favorite bar in St. Louis

Great place to enjoy a pint. They have several craft beers available on tap, and I really enjoy drinking a pint while eating food from The Dam, located next door. Sports fans can also enjoy watching soccer games, as there are numerous TVs. They recently renovated the patio area, which has been popping since the World Cup has been going on. Not your typical bar, but definitely worth checking out if you enjoy a tasty craft beer, especially from local brewing companies.

Only found because the people at The Dam told us to go sit next door at The Amsterdam. Pleased to find a great Non-Smoking soccer bar. Our burgers from The Dam were delivered to us here. We ordered fountain sodas and were given free refills. Will return, looks like a great place to cheer on Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Great nonsmoking soccer bar. They offer a good beer selection which goes well with the food you can order next door at The Dam. If you’re not a beer drinker, they’re a sports bar and will mix you up a simple bar drink too. The ambiance is definitely soccer. This is the place to be seen watching a World Cup or any soccer game for that matter. Our bartender Matt, was friendly and attentive. He told us about the patio expansion which is going to be great for this coming spring and summer. The Amsterdam has always been a great little bar and now with The Dam next door, it just got better. When: 30 Jan 2014 Why: Enjoying a burger from The Dam
