Best aldi location. Everywhere else for aldi locations are way more expensive. though still cheaper than any other chain. Walmart is more expensive. Diet tea and hummus to chicken and more are cheap…

I LOVE Aldi. Let me repeat. I LOVE Aldi. I was a food store snob until one of the best hostesses in town let me in on her secret. She shops at Aldi’s for basics and always checks around holidays for special buys. I found Nirenberg sausages during-wait for it-German week. When they have Pirano olive oil again(I’m hoping around Thxgiving or Xmas), I’m getting 3 bottles. Yes, that good and I use Nunez for most things but this discount OO wowed me. For $ 12 I can get all the produce my reusable bag can carry. Do you like red, orange or yellow sweet peppers that cost a buck apiece elsewhere? Aldi’s has them for $ 2.29 at three to a pack. Every three months or so they go on sale and you pay only a $ 1. Eggs? Half what they cost at Schnucks. Milk? The same. Their bag of Italian lettuce blend is $ 2 and is delish. I could go on and on and on but look on for Tracey’s dissertation! She speaks for me too. The Grand store is always«interesting,» the Gravois Aldi has booze and wines as good as 3 buck Chuck’s, and if you can’t bear being caught in the city, Aldi’s is on Olive and 270 also. So what are you waiting for – take your 12 dollars and get going…

First and foremost you should know Aldi does not accept credit cards of any type. The only forms of payment accepted are: 1. Cash 2. Debit 3. EBT I am an Aldi fan, so I migrate to them all depending on what side of town I’m on. This location is my least favorite due to the riffraff. Employees are usually friendly but the patrons are questionable. I’ll pass on this one unless it’s crucial. I have options.

this place is great, has everything I need — except no liquor license — cheap and good, their specialty items are of surprisingly high quality. It’s the right size; get in and out quick!

Like the store, not this location. A no frills store, great for basics, produce can be spot on(some is very local — Soulard) some is not.

Side Note: The map on Unilocal is WAY off. This store is located just south of Gravois on South Grand. People seem to have a misconception about Aldi. In a place like St. Louis, Aldi isn’t for poor people. No no. It’s filled with hipsters and the occasional middle class soccer mom. If you shop at IKEA, like reading about feng shui, or bought a house in a gentrified neighborhood, you will probably love Aldi. If you’ve always wondered about it but were scared to do it, take a deep breath, put on your big girl hipster skinny jeans, and let me tell you how it’s done: 1. Just like a normal grocery store, they have shopping carts which are kept outside. Instead of taking one, you rent one by inserting a quarter into the slot on the cart. Then pull the cart. When you are done shopping, go put your cart back, plug the key in, and get your quarter back. This helps keep their prices down and assures that only other people’s car doors will ding the side of your car. 2. Unlike a normal grocery store, there aren’t floor to ceiling aisles. There are 4 aisles, and the food is stacked on shelves or on the floor. Everything is clearly labeled, but you should plan to walk up and down every aisle on your first visit. Things aren’t always in one particular section, and their selection of stock changes frequently. Take deep breaths. You can do this. 3. Bring shopping bags. If you don’t, you can purchase bags for a few pennies. When you get to the register, put your items on the conveyor belt(just like you do at Whole Foods, you snob). The bags are located underneath the conveyor belt. Look at your items and estimate how many bags you need. Put the bags on the conveyor belt. 4. For VISA sluts such as myself, the fact that they don’t take credit cards is the biggest deterrent. But realizing that I save 2 bones on milk alone by going here, I realized it is worth it. So memorize the PIN to your debit card and suck it up. Or bring cash. 5. Once you’ve paid, now it’s time to bag your own groceries, which you do willingly when you partake in self scan at another grocery store anyway. Your items will have been placed back in a cart by the cashier. Get the Hell out of the way, push your cart forward to the tables in front of the check stand, and take your time bagging your groceries. Your hands are probably trembling by now at this hardcore urban shopping experience. 6. Don’t forget to return your cart to reclaim the quarter that screams«I’ve been to an Aldi.» My friends are soooooooooo snooty and think that Trader Joe’s is roughing it. Some of them cannot even fathom the idea of ripping themselves away from Whole Paycheck to even set food in a TJ’s. Guess what? TJ’s and Aldi’s = same fricking thing. Same business model. And owned by the same people. And guess what? The food at Aldi is fricking good. WAY better than the generics you buy at Schnuk’s or Walmart. Seriously. Sure, if you’re an organic freak, this store will give you a heart attack, but for most of us, this store delivers. You will question the labels you’ve never seen before, but don’t worry. ALL of the stuff here is from Aldi, they just create names and brand images for the products. Is there low quality food with preservatives here? Uh, yeah. Just like there is at pretty much any store. You will probably have to supplement shopping here with a trip to your other store of choice, but getting here once a week is WORTHIT for staples. You’ll only save a few cents per item(compared to Walmart) for staples like canned fruit, but items like milk, eggs, and cheese can deliver instant savings of dollars at a time. And shopping here is quick… Don’t think of it as a whole other shopping trip. Once you get the hang of it and figure out where things are, you can get in and get out SUPER fast. Edited to add that you do have to know your products. It will take a few times shopping here and comparing to figure out what products give you the biggest savings and which products taste good. If you shop at Walmart, the savings are there, but will be subtle. If you buy national brands and shop at Whole Foods or Dierberg’s, shopping here will be like winning the lottery. To Review: 1. YES, Aldi IS cheaper(cheaper even than what you would spend if you bought the cheapest generics at Wal-mart WITH coupons). 2. NO, Aldi is not«ghetto». 3. YES, you can shop at Aldi. 4. Yes, you probably should. You can use the money you save at Aldi to buy more flannel Goodwill shirts and Toms.
