The Landing

The upside. Great pizza and chicken. Sandwiches very good too. Downsides. It is a bar. Dining room small, nothing special. Bar coke was bad at first. Corrected by the owner. Bartender was nice an attended to our needs when asked. The pizza an chicken alone would warrant a return visit. I did think prices were a bit high tho.

I used to live on this side of town and always wanted to try this place. We stopped in and were pleasantly surprised by how bright it was inside. Lots of windows and plenty of seating.
There were quite a few people at the bar but you got the vibe that they were regulars. We tried the wings which were on special and they were very good, crunchy, saucy and not greasy. We also got burgers and they were dank. Thick patties, good toppings and really good buns. Also, not greasy.
The one mistake I made was getting the regular fries vs. the sour cream and chive fries. The SC&C ones were thinner, crispier and well seasoned. The plain ones were soft, thick and bland :/​
Overall, we were very pleased with out meal and experience and will be back.

It’s a small little pub by the old Blockbuster that I have passed literally passed a thousand times but have never stopped. We had a Groupon and stopped for lunch. There weren’t many people in the space and the bartender was very friendly. I had the delicious steak sandwich with fries and the hubs had a build your own burger. We also got a beer with lunch which hit the spot. They have daily specials which I think we will check out. Prices are pretty reasonable.

My husbnd liked his burger. The bartender guy was nice. He made a really good margarita. I ordered the baked cod. Dont order it unless u want previously frozen rubber without flavor. The atmosphere was so boring. It was dead. I could hear myself chew. We order the combo appetizer, all was pre froze exceptaybe the potato with cheese. Staff is friendly. I wanted to go to soblemans but my husband wanted somewhere close. I will insist on Soblemans nextime because ive never been there and ive heard good things.

Stopped in for a drink the other night around 11 or 1130. Bartender was really rude and rushing us so she could close up. Finished our beer and left… Won’t go back!

Went for a fish fry. The service was poor, the fish was cold, and the beer was expensive. Not going back.

A short and sweet review: service was good. Bartender was very friendly and helpful
Food was sub-​par. Probably won’t go back.
Steak wasn’t cooked the way I specified (I know, not the end of the world) but that’s a deal breaker for me.

I was there on Saturday, February 23 at 8:00pm. The bartender was very friendly and promptly served us. My brother-​in-​law asked if the bartender had any jokes and he told two extremely racist jokes. One involved shooting black people and the other was about slavery. The bartender’s defense was that those are the only jokes he’s ever told. I will never return to The Landing.

I’m sure this place is a decent local to get a beer and socialize with your mates.
But I noticed on the night that I was there that music was really loud.
An older couple were trying to enjoy what appeared to be some decent pub food, but they seemed a bit put off by the volume of the classic rock. And loud it was. I found it odd that the Gov’nor wasn’t aware of these two and their obvious discomfort with the canned music.
It’s loud, the regulars a bit crude, but the beer was cold and cheap.

I enjoyed the rueben and the free pull-​tab that determined the cost of my beer (I had to pay full price).

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. When we drove up, our expectations went down. This is your basic bar, not a «pub». It was not very busy, so we got outstanding service. The appitizer combo platter was pretty danged good, had cheese balls, deepfried wonton wrapped mozz. sticks, fried mushrooms, and onion rings. three dipping sauces came with it.
I had the steak sandwich, which was very good. tender, not tough at all. My wife had the marinated chicken breast sandwich, also very good.
I have no complaints, and would go back there again. But I’m telling you, don’t expect anything more than a bar for the atmosphere, ’cause that’s what your getting.

Stopped in to test the claim on their sign saying they have «The Best Pizza on Layton». (I could kick myself for not getting a pic!!)
I must say, the pizza was pretty darn good. Best? Not sure I have had pizza from anywhere else on Layton, so for now, I will give it to them! It is not a typical bar frozen pizza that they throw in an old rusty, greasy pizza oven. The crust was thin and crispy and the toppings all looked fresh. We also had an order of wonton wrapped mozzarella sticks. Also, very good!
We went in on a Monday night, not realizing we were walking into Trivia Night. The entire tavern was filled with people playing. One woman sat at the end of the bar reading questions, and everyone had to write their answers on a piece of paper. We didn’t stay long enough to see who won, or even what the prize was.
Now for the atmosphere:
The bartender was a young guy, and very friendly. Definitely made us feel welcome! It appears to attract alot of regulars, much like any southside tavern. When we first walked in, it felt as though all conversation stopped and they all just stared at us. There was also a very distinct smell when I walked in, which I can only describe as smelling like my drunk uncle who survived his last 10 years eating only pickles and drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon. I can only assume one of the regulars had been sitting there for quite some time.
Overall, pretty decent pizza for a tavern, extremely friendly service, but your typical south side tavern atmosphere.

A great local spot close to the airport and adjacent to the I794 extension (heading downtown MKE).
Tuesday Taco night is my favorite ($ 1 Tacos, soft shell or hard).
I’ve been a regular customer for over 12 years, but now that Art is in charge it’s much more fun — there’s so many more people there now on my night off, and I go there because it’s fun rather than just being close to home.
It’s also right next to blockbuster so you can pick up a DVD and have a few drinks — a great place to enjoy your downtime.
