Nice people, great pizza and lunch experience! Gluten free pizza was delicious. Beers were very tasty. This is not a typical brewery atmosphere at lunch, but overall we thought it was great and we’d definitely recommend it.

Visited DCBC3 – 4 times, and always good. This is just pizza, but the dough is homemade, the toppings are mostly local, always fresh and in a wide variety. The sauce and seasonings are homemade from a great recipe. It’s a simple place in a struggling tiny NC mountain town, run by hopeful, younger folks. I prefer unpretentious start-ups headed by serious food-conscious people who aren’t reaching for the stars, but believe simple, local, and natural is best. The home-brewed beers are ambitious and unusual, but not weird, and make it a special evening. Afterwards, head to Micaville for The Hop’s homemade ice cream. Visit this pizza parlor and you’ll understand why the chains don’t have a clue about what good pizza is.

I’m still sad we didn’t get to eat here. All the pizza coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled amazing. What we lacked in food we made up for in brews, though! Tried their Belgian red, farmhouse brown, amber and special pumpkin ale. All were great! My favorite was probably the amber, surprisingly.(I’m a total sucker for pumpkin beers.) If in Spruce Pine, be sure to stop by for a beer or two!

One of primary reasons for a mini«foodie» tour of Spruce Pine was to visit the nano brewery, Dry County Brewing. Their mission is split into two goals — provide local handcrafted pizzas and really good«fresh» beer. The building is non-descript, with large glass windows and driving by, you definitely wouldn’t peg it as a brewery. It looks like it could have been a Laundromat in a former life. The staff greeted me with open arms and provided me with an enormous glass of ice water — it was blazing hot outside and I must have looked like I was melting. The Modest Mouse station in the background made for some cool atmosphere. The flights are a standard six, all of their beers, for $ 6, so that you can taste a little of everything they have to offer. The tap handles have beautiful crazy cool ceramic pottery sculptures. Of the six I tried the Porter was the best. Roasty, toasty, creamy and smooth. The Lemon Drop IPA was zesty, citrusy, a little bit floral and refreshing. Honorable mention to the Amber Ale. The others I didn’t much care for as a matter of personal preference. Although I didn’t have room for pizza, the ones coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled really good. I’ll try them next visit. Tip: this place gets pretty warm by the pizza ovens, so sit at the back half of the restaurant.

Fantastic. The new sandwiches are great. It was the best meal my family has eaten in Spruce Pine in years.

I have been frequenting this establishment from the beginning. The owners are amazing people that take pride in everything the do. The ingredients are the freshest you will get. Therefore the pizza and dishes are absolutely amazing. If you want a truly great homemade pizza, this is your place. You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic! Came for dinner on a Sunday night– I was skeptical as pizza is not one of my favorite foods, and that’s pretty much all they have on the menu. However my husband and boys all love pizza so I gave in and came along. I am so glad I did! We ordered a large traditional with homemade sausage and meatballs. The crust was thin and crispy in the right places and chewy and Crunchy on the edges. The sauce was fresh and the toppings were tasty and plentiful. Our waitress took our orders quickly and the food came out soon afterwards. We will definitely come back and recommend it to our friends!

Unexpected find in the wilds of western North Carolina. Good pizza, and brewed on premise beer — small batches.

Excellent pizza! Beer flight is cheap but usually there are 1−2+ undrinkable ones.

Best pizza in NC. Great local brews. The owner makes small batches at a time. Do the beer sampler. Wonderful place.

Vacationing near Spruce Pine, we stopped for dinner. The pizza was good, they should create their own specialty pizzas though. The place clearly was a convenience store and it looks like all they did was move out the shelving and moved in some second hand furniture. No atmosphere at all. The beer was below par. Virtually no sides to order. The staff all seemed high. This is likely a start-up and they clearly have a lot of room for improvement, build on the pizza and keep working on the beer — hopefully they’ll get there.

Gourmet. just ok. was not pleased, but I’m a grease loving pizza eater so what can I say… I like oily, cheesy, and spicy. I’m told to give another try some other time. Perhaps I will.

I stopped in here for my second time last week. I wanted pizza to go and did not want a greasy sloppy mess from Pizza Hut(only other pizza option in Spruce Pine). This time I went with the Pesto Pizza with mushrooms. It was delicious! Flavorful, fresh, not greasy at all. Wish I could have fit more into my belly! I also got a side of cheesy bread. It was an unnecessary side, but delicious none the less. In the past I had tried their regular red sauce and felt it had a «wang» to it. Not for me, but the Pesto sauce is sooo amazing. The beers I have seen there are heavier lagers, and I tend to steer more towards lighter beers, so a little heavy for me but still delicious and local. Check this place out, it is fairly priced and delicious!

While wandering back to Chicago from SC, I uncovered this rural gem. What a unique/strange location… If i could guess, it was maybe a laundromat in the not so distant past. This only added to the experience. On to the food and beer. Their Pizza could truly stand up against any of the premier Chicago establishments. Great sauce, hand tossed, great dough, and cooked to perfection. I also must mention that my server was extremely pleasant. Too bad I can’t check in on occasion to see what else they are brewing. Keep up the good work. Hope to see you again. Vitals: Flight of beer samples 1 small pizza 1 ½ gallon of beer to go XL T-shirt $ 50

My first visit here was great. Went in again with some family/friends on a Thurs. Thursday is trivia night and it was very fun, but we also figured out how not very smart we all were! LOL! The pizza was not as good as the first time, and the beer, to be quite honest was horrible. We always get the sample boat with six samples and two tasted like Band-Aids. We have been brewing beer for ten years and that is one taste you know immediately something has seriously gone bad and should have been thrown out. Why those beers made it to the tables with customers was very very bad! It’s to bad because I probably won’t ever have a beer there again.

This isn’t even micro-brewing, it’s nano-brewing. With only 10 gallon batches you never know what you might get and it was all great. Only 6 taps and 2 kegs kicked on my first visit so I got to sample 8 different beers. My new favorite destination in the Spruce Pine/Burnsville area! My old favorite? None — everything here used to suck when it was a dry county. Hurray for Dry County Brewing!

Spruce Pine, NC is fast becoming a culinary destination. Now delicious pizza(including gluten free), calzones and salads are available at The Pizza Shop & Dry County Brewing Company on Spruce Pine’s upper road. Last time we visited our mountain cabin we ventured over for a pie on Thursday evening. Lucky for us, Thursday is trivia night, which made a fun night even more fun with our multi-generational table. We started with salads. My favorite was the Ceasar with fresh croutons and lots of parmesan with a tasty but not too overwhelming creamy dressing. The beet salad was also good, although for some reason I did not expect it to come with lettuce — I thought it would just be beets! The pizza here is formidable, with a nice char to the crust and lots of toppings available. The kitchen seemed to miss some of the toppings we ordered(and subbed green peppers for the roasted red peppers) but we were quick to forgive once we tasted it! We had the traditional tomato sauce pie but a pesto pizza and a white pie are also available. Next time I definitely want to give one of these a shot! For dessert we tried the brownie, which was delicious but would have been even better with ice cream. Maybe some ice cream could be offered in the future? As you might imagine from the name, hand-crafted beers are available on tap. We didn’t try any so I can’t comment but The Pizza Shop and Dry County Brewing is a fun spot that anyone visiting Spruce Pine should visit.

A fantastic surprise of a place that has some great and unusual craft beers. Had a chocolate Belgian, Japanese style iPad, and a neat dubbed. The pizza is truly remarkable… fresh locally sourced ingredients… tons of fresh toppings… cheap for what you get. Nice that they have slices… they are small… But good. This will be a must visit to and from Boone or Asheville. Atmosphere is laid back… few know about the brewery in nearby Asheville. They should. Also sells take home beer in giant canning jars! Great for kids!

I was just passing through Spruce Pine last night looking for something to eat. My friend and I were planning on keeping it on the cheap since neither of us could afford much, so I set the GPS to locate Hardees. Fortunately for us, the GPS Location of Hardees was wrong. I then opened my Unilocal application and located Pizzart. I decided to give it a try because I love little independent pizza joints, besides it already had a 5 star rating on Unilocal. We got there, and the restaurant was full. We learned quickly that they were having the weekly trivia match! They also have a micro brewery(I found it interesting it was called the«Dry County Brewery»). The pizza was to die for! My friend and I split a white pizza. On his side he had artichoke and green pepper. I had pepperoni, meatball and onion. We both had salads and since I was driving I had a diet coke while he had one of their microbrews, which I tasted and it was quite good. It’s a crying shame I don’t live closer, or I would be a regular there!
