What a great place to eat. Have been there two times now. The last time was the Thursday before mothers day. We took Mom. The wings are very good. The platter of french fries are a must. Mom likes the fish sandwich. The cheesy broccoli and the corn nuggets are the best I have had. The south western chicken sandwich was a little to spicy for my wife but I had a bite and loved it. But I bring my hot sauce wherever I go.

Best burgers and fries that I have had in the Huntingdon County area! Always a great experience.

I visited the tavern recently, first time in about 4 months, our server, Courtney, was a real gem. This was the best service we have received here. She was friendly and efficient. It was very busy but every time we needed her she was there! The food was good. The Place is always clean. Highly recommended the spruce creek tavern. Ask to sit in Courtney’s section!

If you like to to bike or if you like decent food or service, this is not the place for you. We rode our bikes from State College. The first thing we saw was a sign indicating that bike cleats were not allowed in the restaurant. To remove our shoes, we walked our bikes onto the porch and away from the crowded parking lot, where there was no bike rack. There were not serving on the porch and not a single person was out there, but someone immediately rushed out to tell us that we could not have our bikes on the porch. When questioned about the safety of moving we were told sarcastically, «This is not a high crime area.» Given that my husband’s truck was broken into just down the road, I would disagree, but we didn’t argue the point. We moved our bikes and went inside where friends already had a table. Despite the speed with which some was able to come out kick us off the porch, it took forever to even get a drink of water, which the waitress was too lazy to walk around to our side of the table, instead choosing to pass the glasses hand-to-hand down the table. We tried a variety of food among our party of 8, and the only thing item to get a thumbs up was the wings. Everything else we ate was terrible and I wouldn’t choose to be treated like that again for the best wings in the country!

We typically love this place– some upgrades, good food, big portions, nice people. As it is 15 minutes from our house, we get here at least once a month. However, we went in on a Thursday night, and the place was packed. We waited for the couple ahead of us to claim a table, then we sat down. The«Seat Yourselves» concept that generally works fairly efficiently in a place of this size was incredibly inappropriate given the crowd. However, the restaurant was not staffed appropriately with only two servers for the entire restaurant. We then waited 45 minutes to give a drink order while we watched many other tables seated after ours receive drinks and even apps. The servers knew they were unable to meet our needs as they both carefully avoided eye contact. Normally, we would simply leave in this situation, but a fussy toddler and 25 minute drive from the nearest restaurant tied us there. When we were finally seen, our service was fine– the waitress apologetic and the food relatively prompt. Unfortunately, the experience was so frustrating that I doubt we will return. A simple smile, an «I’m so sorry! We will be with you just as soon as we can» or a visit from the bartender or manager would have been enough to salvage our patronage since we aren’t super fussy folks. I think there are establishments within 15 minutes in the other direction that have shown more attention and care to our needs.

The food was ok, nothing special. The service was not very good: never took a drink order when we sat down, didn’t refill empty drinks when the food was delivered, never came back after the food came. I had to track down the check after we got our own to go containers and sat waiting for 10 mins after we were clearly finished. I won’t stop there again.

Spruce Creek Tavern offers a true Central Pennsylvania experience, and this is why you should visit at least once. Most people go for wings and fries(both great). A hike from civilization, camouflage appears to be the unspoken dress code. If you’re not«from around here» you’ll be reminded as soon as you walk through the door, but everyone is friendly as long as you don’t try to take their guns.

Fries are fresh and come in large portions. Not much of a bar setting, more on the lines of a secluded country family restaurant. Food seemed ok, but not something I would travel a distance for. Mixed drinks were more expensive than I would have imagined from a restaurant in the middle of nowhere. Don’t come here looking for a refill on your soda either. Fountain soda is cheaper than dirt, but some how they feel the need to bang you for another top off in the ol’glass. Pricing– most burgers and subs in the 6 to 7 buck range. Again nothing that you couldn’t get any where else. Save your gas and pass on this one.

This little tavern has a great atmosphere. The food is good and they have plenty of options. Though this isn’t the best pub I have gone to, I would recommend it to my friends in Huntingdon County.
