St Christopher’s Pre School & Mother’s Day Out

My complaint about this school is a complete lack of communication and disregard for privacy. My son attended this school and was told that he could not return after months of misbehavior. My complaint is that his teachers nor the director were direct with me about the things he was doing in class to cause concern. I went to the school and worked out a system with the teacher with them agreeing to provide me with a list of the things he was doing to get in trouble each day so that I could better work with him at home to improve his behavior. They never stuck to the agreement stating that they weren’t going to make a «negitive list» about him. I don’t really think it is a «negitive list» given I needed the documentation to help me address the behavior. It’s not like I was going to share the list with my child, I would never want to hurt his self-​esteem like that. His class had no behavior system (pulling sticks, stars, or incentives for good behavior) so he wasn’t learning proper behavior in school. Everytime he would act up they would send him to the main office and make him sit there. I personally don’t think that method is effective given he needs to learn how to behave within the classroom environment. Sending him out of the room isn’t working with the behavior. I understand that he was an inconveince but I was paying for him to attend this school to prepare him for Kindergarten. I feel it was easier for the staff to just not deal with the issues he was having instead of trying to work with me on how to fix the problem. The worst thing that happened is upon his dismissal the director took it upon herself to send a mass email out to all the parents informing them that my son was no longer attending their school. I feel that was a direct violation of my son’s privacy given his situation was a private family issue. The email was sent after I sent her an email asking that she NOT send out a letter discussing our private family issues with him. They did refund my money for the remainder of the month so that was a positive. However, I think they handled the whole situation the wrong way. If the staff had worked with me to try to address the issues my son was having then the situation could have ended differently. This supposed to be a Christian school and last time I checked Jesus never turned his back on any sinner so for this school to boot him out like they did taught my son that it’s ok to turn your back on people when things get difficult. Not the lesson I wanted him to learn.
