Can you say YUMMMMM! Ok, ok we ordered this twice in a 5 day span! The crust is thin and crisp and obviously homemade. Cheese was perfect and just the right amount. Lots of toppings! If you are going for really good pizza and an spend the extra dough(bad a bump) get it! The only drawback is the price. $ 23 for a large specialty pizza delivered.

We love this place. The family dines in and gets delivery. Our favorite pie is the Crazy Italian. We just love the wheat crust and the sauce is just right. Delivery is pretty quick and their dining area is very nice as well. It’s been here for a long time for good reason.

I like the wheat crust pizza here. Mcsalty’s has been around a long time. I like the food. The owner is a very nice guy who is humble and appreciative of your business. Most of the staff seem to be college students. They are friendly and pleasant. The only downside is sometimes they are not as attentive as you might want. That aside I like Mcsalty’s and they have good food at a good price. Great place for families and extended family get togethers.

My review is similar to many others that are on here. Good food. Good atmosphere. Horrible customer service. Call in orders are a pain and take forever. They offer delivery but tell you it’s a 2 hour wait. Then when you pick up your food it’s not ready and they are not even busy. I will only go here anymore as a last resort.

I am a fan of McSalty’s pizza, but previously visited the Sunshine location so this was my first ever visit to the store on Battlefield. I liked the décor much more here, it’s dated in the same way as the other McSalty’s, but still very nice and cozy and seems to be clean and well maintained. The pizza was exactly what I expect — thin wheat crust, plenty of cheese, good sauce, and not skimpy on the veggies(Guru’s Delight). Simple dinner salad was fine, no problems. However, I can’t go higher than 3 stars with this rating because the service was honestly lacking. Our server said very little to us and never commented about it taking much, much longer than expected to receive our pizza. She was basically mute, verging on unfriendly and I don’t know why. She wasn’t a «kid», there were several other servers working, and the restaurant wasn’t extremely busy. We are not overly needy diners and don’t need a bunch of chit chat but this wasn’t pleasant at all, especially since the pizza took so long to arrive that we were seriously thinking of paying for the salads and leaving. Also, the water tasted VERY off(possibly the ice machine in need of some help, I don’t know). I would probably opt for the Sunshine location again in the future just based on this visit.

The pizza was great, but the service SUCKED, had to get up and take my glass to the waitress for a refill, even though she walked by our table a dozen times, she NEVER once stopped to ask us if we needed anything. Next time, we will have our order to go !

The best pizza in Springfield, although they don’t really have much competition. I’ve been coming here for years. I miss the days when they had live music on the weekends. It seems like their business has waned since then… maybe they should bring it back.

Classic atmosphere, delicious pizza, sandwiches, beer and smoothies. What the heck more could you ask for? The crispy wheat crust is uniquely yummy, I personally go for the Fools Gold, five cheese pizza. My life loves the Guru. They have many beers to choose from also. When I was a kid I always got a smoothie, and damn we’re they good! This place was the bomb in the 80s and it still is today.

Love this classic pizza café. It’s consistent every time. Good food & good service. This restaurant has been in business for 30 years and I’ve never been disappointed.

Pathetic — At the McSalty’s on Sunshine — We were served brown lettuce on the salads we ordered. It took nearly an hour to get the 2 pizzas to the table and the excuse was they were busy. But we were the only ones there? No wonder the parking lot is always empty. Plus way over priced too ! — Ick — will not be back

Had a Bear Pie. Tasted a bit off but mostly ok. They were out of smoothies; have no flavored lemonade(except pink) but they should. Server had to ask me multiple times what soda I was having, only 3 ppl at my table. They enjoyed their dinners. Floors needed vacuumed. Server walked by 3 times after I told him I wanted a refill and he had taken my glass before he brought my refill and even the I had to remind him. I’ve had better food here many times before. They weren’t busy: 2 tables, maybe 3. At about 715 pm on a Tuesday so service and the food should have been much better. Likely to return our next time in the area for another chance.

I’ve heard so many people say to go to McSalty’s. I’ve lived here for 8 years, but I’m from New York, so I’m a very bad pizza snob. People said: «this place will shut you up!». Well, it didn’t. Compared to New York pizza: 0 stars. Awful. So if you are visiting from such places, avoid. Compared to Springfield area pizza: 3 stars. Nothing special. If you are a local, it’s probably okay. The dough is under-proofed, leading to a cracker like crust. For a place in business so long, you’d think they wouldn’t under-proof. They also use a wheat flour, which is interesting in theory but it was unremarkable in taste. The sauce was virtually non-existent — I could barely taste any. Was there any on the pizza? If there was, they used an eye-dropper to put it on. They put cheddar on the pizza(good lord) and the other cheeses were sub-standard and cheap. The mushrooms were clearly out of a can(seriously?). The meat(sausage and beef, I think) were boring and lacked in much taste. Essentially, it was like a decent frozen food section pizza. Not impressed. You might also be interested to know that given the sub-standard pizza, it’s also very overpriced. Very. Save your money — if this is the kind of pizza you like, go to Pizza Hut or some other chain. You’ll get the same thing for less.

This review maybe isn’t so appropriate, but whatever. I used to go here, many years ago. I always loved the pizza. It was soo good, and I have a lot of very fond memories about the place. I guess it’s been 10 years. Glad to hear they’re still in business and still slinging great pie.

The original McSalty’s recipe is not used here. If you want the real pies, take a trip to the Sunshine store.

Trying to feed a family? 3 fourteen inch pizzas. Try $ 56.00. Are you serious!!! Why aren’t people complaining about the price. Your spending about $ 1 for every bit… For dough, sauce, and cheese. Absolutely ridiculous! I am sorry for everyone who likes this but there is no justification for paying this much for a pizza.

Best.Pizza.In.Springfield. Best crust — whole wheat and never too heavy. Perfect amount of toppings, my fave is the Guru’s Delight, the local hit is usually the Bear Pie. Always great with a pitcher of beer. Miss them on Delmar Street, though.

OK we all agree, they have great Pizza, They’ve been making them here since ’79. The Bear Pie(by far my favorite) is the perfect combination of Canadian Bacon, Italian Sausage, Mushrooms, Onion, Green Pepper and Black Olives on a thick Wheat Crust, wonderful. Nick, Ruell, and Ned the Band Use to play every Friday and Saturday Night at this location but stopped a couple months ago. There was a rumor I heard that they might be coming back soon but the restaurant would not confirm this.

Can you say wheat crust pizza. It’s freakin amazing man. By the way I’m still in a Hardee’s food coma, thoughts might not be coherent. But I digress, you have all kinds of options for your pizza and better yet they all are put on wheat crust. I don’t know how to get across to all of you how good this crust is. I dare say one of the best I have ever had. It is just awesome. mmmmmmmm pizza crust. I think I’m going to go have some right now. McSalty’s got it right everything was perfect, plus they have live music on some nights and that just ups the ante. Go get some wheat crust pizza now!!!
