Wow. Just wow. I’m so glad my husband and I stumbled upon this gem in Springfield. We had been to Osaka a few times and were so incredibly disappointed that we couldn’t wait to try a different restaurant for sushi. Not only is the sushi delicious, it is impeccably«dressed», it is truly a work of art. If you’re looking for a cheap dinner, then it’s best that you just avoid any Japanese restaurant. I would say that the prices are very competitive with Osaka, but the quality is far, far better at Kiku. You can taste the quality in the fresh fish they serve. The owners are absolutely wonderful and friendly people. I did not know them before we set foot in the restaurant, but I feel like I do now! We chatted with them about their travels around the world and where they get their food. It was such a nice experience. It’s usually pretty quiet and I would love to change that. I recommend everyone to check out Kiku. You’ll certainly go back again and again.

Good food and pretty good service from a friendly staff. Not real busy so it was unusually quiet for a hibachi grill. I would try it again.

The food was okay. I really liked the beef udon. However, the sushi is little bit expensive.

Solid sushi. Went twice during a week while in the area for training. Two rolls and a cup of soup for less than $ 11 as a lunch special. Fish quality is above average and the soup was good. Place is totally empty and looks like it’s dying. It shouldn’t be.

I don’t think I have that many choices at Springfield but kids want to eat Japanese so this is probably my only choice. Overall, it is only OK… very normal average Chinese own Japanese restaurant that serve Japanese, Korean and Chinese food… we did not go to the Hibachi section as we are not into the show or $$$$ dinner. We ordered the bento boxes and a korean bbq rib and they are just OK. They are not horrible but just nothing special.

How do you say delicious in Japanese? Kiku is by far and away the best hibachi joint in Springfield, if anyone tries to get you to go to Osaka tell them no we are going to Kiku. I’ve been to Kiku several times and I can tell you that this is the place to go for lunch. I wouldn’t recommend dinner because the prices are outrageous but you must take advantage of their lunch specials. For 10 dollars you can get a hibachi meat, fried rice, onion soup, and grilled veggies. Come on that’s awesome. Not to mention the quality and the taste of the food is top notch. Plenty of seating, quick service, great sushi If that’s your thing, and great atmosphere. Do, get the yum yum sauce, best in Springfield Do, get the ginger salad dressing, best in Springfield Do not, order meat medium, it will come out well done Do not, come here for dinner, stick with lunch Do not, ever ever ever ever go to Osaka just come here!

Not a bad spot to eat, the sushi was great as was the service. My only complaint was how the Philly Roll was made it had too much cucumber that over powered the roll. But other than that everything else was delicious

Everything was good. The service was great. Everyone I encountered was very friendly. The waitress, hibachi chef, and the cleaner. I ordered the Teriyaki Salmon Dinner Bento Box; miso soup, ginger house salad, teriyaki salmon, 4 California rolls, gyoza, and shumai. It was delicious. I also tasted a few pieces of sushi from my coworker and it pretty decent. Overall great dining experience.

I loved this place, the first time we went. My husband and I did the hibachi and the food was phenomenal. The soup had a great flavor, which I was surprised by given that it was only broth. i was expecting a bland soup, but received something very flavorful. I had the shrimp and steak. The shrimp was fresh and the steak was tender and juicy. The second time we went, the service was horrible. My husband and I did hibachi again, we put in our order, and our soup was delivered. The hostess told us that more ppl we’re joining our table, which I was fine with. So we waited, and waited. Five minutes later I heard the hostess ask the male that came in when the rest of the group would be here. I couldn’t believe it, they were making us wait for ppl we didn’t even know. When the woman came back I asked her why we were waiting and when we’d be getting our food… she said it wouldn’t be long, I said so what another twenty minutes for them to get here, sit down and decide what they want. The hostess said we could be moved to a booth… It was just ridiculous so we got up and left

Very nice, clean restaurant. The wait staff was friendly, and helpful. They offered just the right amount of service. I sat at the sushi bar had miso soup, snow roll,(which was on special) 2 pieces of white tuna nigiri, and salmon roll. The sushi chef then gave me a piece of sushi on the house. It was a peppered salmon and it was really good. The price for all this(I drank water) was $ 27.47 which seemed fair. I will go back the next time I am in town.

Best sushi on the west side of springfield. Stands up to some of the other great places I’m had sushi in Chicago. There habachi is decent as well, but the sushi is what I go for.

Pathetic service. Waiter told us they were busy but there were only four other tables! Cheesecake was frozen and took forever. We won’t be back

Fun place for dinner. Have sat at the Hibachi grill each time I’ve been here. Ordered the lobster and shrimp last time and it was delicious. Would recommend making a reservation.

Don’t even think about going anywhere else for sushi in Springfield. Family owned and operated with a great selection and super fresh fish.

Went here for lunch & the lady who took our order was rude when we asked any questions. I got my favorite Philadelphia Roll & the ingredients were wrong. Anytime I’ve ever had it before it had salmon, avocado & cream cheese in it, here they traded the avocado for cucumber. The menu said the right ingredients but the actual roll was wrong. Rude & dissapointing!

Kiku is excellent! Best sushi in town — much better than Osaka or Pao. Fresh fish and the sushi chef is very creative! Family-owned, not a chain, great atmosphere and the hibachi chefs are entertaining. Excellent all-around.

First off: Family owned and operated, not a chain like Osaka, so the sushi is way better. It’s a little more expensive, but you do get what you pay for, and I’ve never been disappointed. The service is excellent. The owner is REALLY friendly. Of course this means that having a coffee bubble tea while I was super pregnant elicited a comment of «should you be having the coffee!!!» Well-meaning but I was a little taken aback. Still, we’ve returned many times since then and plan to bring all our friends here as well. Totally worth it.

If you are craving sushi in Springfield, Kiku is worth looking into. It’s not the best sushi ever, but… it suffices. I ordered the Lunch Double Sushi Combo($ 10), which came with Miso soup, and had the Spicy Tuna and the Super California rolls. The Spicy Tuna rolls were drizzled with spicy sauce, but the sauce was thick and ultimately drowned out the flavor of the tuna. Each of the Super California rolls featured a mini-mountain of masago — way too much, in my opinion, and both additives overpowered the actual sushi taste, to the point where I could have just been eating stomach-filling, spicy sauce or masago covered rice balls. But…it’s Springfield, and I think there’s a lot to like about Kiku: the service was good, the interior(though the layout was a bit mazy) is shic and comfortable, and the prices are reasonable. Probably not a place for foodies and sushi-die hards, but you could bring a date here and make a favorable impression.

I really like Kiku. A lot of people rave about Osaka, but I honestly think Kiku is better. The service feels personal. The staff are always so nice. I’ve eaten at the sushi bar and at the Hibachi grill. Both experiences positive. I really enjoyed their zombie roll. Hibachi was also very good. Nicely cooked steak and salmon. Ginger dressing for their salads is fairly watery. Excellent food, good service – Thumbs up for Kiku.
