I started out on the road, wanting breakfast but undecided on where to go. My dad suggested IHOP, so we headed over there. Once we ordered, I read the Unilocal reviews and was shocked to see a 1.5 star rating, as I’ve never seen a rating so low. I expected to have a bad experience, but on the contrary, there wasn’t a long wait to receive our order and everything tasted fine. I mean, yeah, it wasn’t the Four Seasons brunch, but it was a fine breakfast with fine service. Four stars for this one experience.

If I could give this place a negative score I would. To begin with the food took 37 minutes to arrive. We asked for no onions on one of the meals, because my husband is allergic, and I swear they put extra onions on it. We sent that back to get re-made, and while that was being done my son found hair in his meal, not a single hair, but multiple. Not only was there a black hair in the eggs, there was also a blonde long on his ham. His meal needed to be re-made. I swear this place doesn’t know what over medium means, because our eggs either had runny & raw whites or hard & overcooked yolks. The waitress was slow and rude. We had to ask 3 times for our soda refills. They didn’t bring the strawberries or whipped cream my son asked for«on the side«until we asked twice. The male younger manager, EVAN, was only going to give us 10% off for all of mistakes, not even enough to cover my husband’s meal, until I confronted him about it, then he offered to take my husband’s meal off and give 20%, but when he brought the check back he just gave the 20% off and said he couldn’t do both. It is extremely sad that this is the only IHOP within 100 miles because I really used to like this place. I will never go back and I urge anyone to also think twice about this place.

I love this IHOP, my grandma and I come here all the time. Service can be good or it can be extremely slow(they are OFTEN understaffed) but it is always friendly. The only complaint I would have is from my most recent trip. There is a lovely front window area with booths next to the window. The booth in the back corner is coming apart. Not in a dangerous way, but annoying. The trim on the table is coming off and the industrious staff has fixed it with duck tape. It’s wearing away and sticky. I applaud the staff on their problem solving skills, however it is a tad annoying.

I don’t write a review unless I get the far spectrum of good or bad experiences. In this case, my experience at the Gateway IHOP was awful. I was seated right away and the hostess was great and helpful. The waitress who took my order, the lady who brought me my water and coffee, the second waitress I had deliver(half) my food and the third waitress I had who finished my table were all great and commendable. It was me and my 16 month old. I ordered my meal and asked for a waffle on the side. Like, you know, when you order a single pancake or egg or English muffin. On. The. Side. My bill had a charge for a $ 7.49 waffle. What? So the manager comes to my table(bad sign), holding the menu, pointing to where it says a single waffle is $ 7.49. Great. That’s not what I asked for. Now, I was trying to peruse the menu and order something for both me and my daughter so maybe I missed that waffles aren’t offered as a side order, but only as a full order. He says the waitress should have told me that. I told him had I known I wouldn’t have ordered it, or I would have ordered the $ 5.49 kid menu item that is identical, but came with sides and a drink, that when I received what I had ordered for myself, half of it was missing. He just sat there with an attitude of «this is what it costs, this is what you ordered, this is what you got.» Ummm, Ass.(Insert angry face) No offer to make it right. No offer to oblige what was obviously an error of communication on everyone’s part. No offer to say«hey, tell you what, I’ll just charge you for the kid’s menu item!» I must have come at shift change and my order fell through the cracks. I get people being discombobulated, so I will let my actual service slide. But this manager was awful and did NOT manage the situation. Well, guess what buddy, you’ve lost my business, and I’ll be very vocal about this. IHOP may not care about customer service – and for the record, I wasn’t looking for a freebie; I just wanted reconciliation with what I thought I had ordered and what I was being told to pay. I will not come here again and I will not enter another IHOP anywhere else.

The poor recent reviews seem to be well earned at this restaurant. Understaffed, my steak was ordered medium, and came out way over-done. Management gave me 10-percent off… they could have done/should have done much better. The dinner salad was just lettuce with a few croutons. Our waitress tried to make it work… but had too many tables and not enough help. We are in Springfield often, but won’t go back here.

The worst experience I’ve ever had you walk in and the smell that comes from inside is unbearable not only that but the dingy dirty stained gross carpet me wife only stayed because my kids love the fact that they can have favorite pancakes any time there another rude staff when they come and ask if I was enjoying my food and I thought we said that no I wasn’t enjoying it they told me I needed to stick to food that I do like and I do know and walked away we’re just going to we’re just hopefully going to find a better IHOP

This is normally our favorite place to go for breakfast but this morning was not up to par. There were six of us, including two toddlers, and we had to wait a full hour to be seated and another 40 minutes to get our food. We expect a little bit of a wait because there’s six of us but that was excessive. Our waitress, Claudia, was very nice but she could have done better. My coffee cup was brought out only one quarter full and they didn’t bring a carafe. My mom and grandma ordered tea but there was no hot water in the tea pots. We were originally stuffed in at a table meant for maybe 4 people and, when we requested to be moved to a larger table they seated a party of two people at a table better suited for six. The manager was obviously flustered and seemed to be apologizing to everyone there. On top of all of that, we weren’t given any kind of break on our bill for the excessive wait and less than stellar service.

Friday night, obviously shorthanded, we were seated at the worst table in the entire place. They seated us at the booth just outside the kitchen in the hallway… strike one. The coffee carafe had a greasy hand print all over one side with crumbs on it… strike two. The waitress was obviously stressed about being shorthanded and normally I’m very sympathetic, but she was bitchy and rude from the get go… strike three. This was all before our friends arrived, and yes we told the waitress we were waiting for our friends to arrive before we needed to order. Normally, this is a blessing and gives a little breathing room to the waitress. She was annoyed. We asked for a different table but had to wait 10 minutes for a table to get cleared and wiped… that was fine. Brook was our new waitress, and although she too was obviously stressed, she was sweet. Unfortunately, the food was horrible. We were disappointed. Our friend’s each ordered a dinner with meat, mashed potatoes, greasy, veggies, and a roll. No rolls, broccoli was ice cold, gravy was thick and cold, potatoes were cold and had been sitting out on the stream table too long. Our table only had strawberry syrup… I had to steal from two other tables to get the other flavors. This experience left me tired. What the he’ll has happened to the service level? I know the jobs are all low pay, but where it’s the outside in doing well? Where’s the management? I felt horrible for being so critical and just wanted to walk into the kitchen and organize it. It was a disorganized, sloppy disaster. I’ve been going to this IHOP for years, but won’t visit this location until it gets back on track. Don’t waste your money. Chances are if they are constantly stressed and shorthanded, they are accomplishing the bare minimum. Sorry :(

First off, I’ve frequented this place for a quarter of a century, and generally loved it, particularly due to the until-recent administration of the place. But in the last month there’s been new ownership, which led to an experience so bad that I finally started a Unilocal account specifically because of it. — A recent visit was rough right off the bat: a bum was thrashing/twitching in the dirt RIGHTBYTHEFRONTDOOR. Classy, right? — Upon entering the building, people were waiting without any acknowledgement for a few minutes, until the manager(a kid maybe not old enough to shave) finally showed up to seat people. I mentioned that there was an extremely sketchy situation happening at the door of this family establishment, which led to excuses from this guy to do nothing about it. Yowzers. — I was seated at a table so filthy that there were large, visible patches of syrup(?) on it… so I moved myself to another table, which was somewhat less filthy. Getting that *nothing* was clean yet? — Several minutes later the waitress finds me, saying«oh, there you are»… and then goes on to take the order of a family that she was fully aware came in *after* me. And then continues to not come to my table for another several minutes. Finally I just got up & left. Crap like this NEVER happened under the Beckenhauer administration, and they will be sorely missed. And the postscript? The bum was *still* right there by the front door on the way out. Nice!

I am so surprised how good my IHOP experience went today. I was quickly seated by a host. My waitress was Kira, super cute girl with braces. She kept my coffee hot through my whole meal and was super polite. My food came out quickly. My eggs were done perfect, my cakes were hot and super filling. Last time I came to IHOP, I stormed out for being ignored. This is not the same place, I suggest all you who have tried this IHOP to come back and try again. It is a different better restaurant. I will be back for sure. Thank you Kira and the others for a great breakfast.

I was jonesing for pancakes and figured IHOP was a sure bet. Turns out I was sure wrong. Ordered the traditional buttermilk pancakes. They were so under cooked they tasted like I was eating batter except for the very edges. Really, really, really bad pancakes for a place that’s supposed to specialize in them.

Holy cow! We walk in and are not greeted. Standing at the hostess podium for about 5 minutes and finally the hostess walks up and just looks at me. I said we want a table for three and then she takes my name. We can see several tables are empty but we seem to be waiting with several other people. Finally a waitress walks up, looks at the seating list and starts chatting with the hostess who finally develops a voice and starts going on about a car wreck she got into in 2005, Oh yes, we all get to hear the details of the idiot who hit you and about your aches and pains … Meanwhile, back in restaurant land, there are people waiting to be seated while the staff is chatting in front of us, then they wandered off!?! We left and went across the road to Shari’s

.Good grub, lots of it, loud neibors drove off everyone. Love going there but every time we’re eating and talking, loud rude people interrupt and talk so loud that everyone in the building looks up. The mgt. needs to develop a polite way to quiet loud people down

I was going through a rough time with my pet’s health and wanted to go out for a distraction and get some pancakes as a treat and thought Ihop would be fun. Boy was I ever wrong. I ordered original buttermilk pancakes, a side of bacon, and coffee. My food was brought out literally less than 5 minutes after ordering and the place was packed. That indicated to me that they cook all their food ahead and let it sit under heat lamps. Scary!!! The pancakes were soggy and rubbery at the same time, like they were steamed. If I had pressed a finger into them it would have made a permanent divot and they tasted just slightly under cooked. I’d bet money that the syrup was not real maple and the bacon was kind of weird like the bacon you get on a burger at Carl’s Jr. Now for the cherry of top of this disaster. Their coffee is nearly clear in color and strangely strong, but not in a good coffee way… more like a bitter chemical. I thought it was a bad batch so I had her bring me another pot and nope, that’s just how their coffee is. I couldn’t even drink it. Overall, I could not believe how packed it was. I ate my meal because I was famished, but it was pretty disgusting. I wish I had seen the 2 stars before going there. Elmers is across the street and they actually have a good breakfast. My waitress was friendly and attentive, but nothing she could have done would have saved that experience.

The long wait I could handle, the terrible location, usually worth it. I have had my last visit to your store due directly to your employees attitude. My sons 18th birthday today and within two small interactions with Rachelle, we left. I waited to pay and speak to a manager and instead waited while she cleaned the now empty table before even coming to take the money or address why her awful attitude had us leaving in minutes. I would think with a Shari’s, Sizzler, Five guys and more within a block of you, you might care a tiny bit more. Coincidentally, our waitress here at Shari’s has the same name bit is infinitely more polite. I hope whatever soured your attitude changes so you can feel better soon.

Run down and less then average service. Orders wrong on 2 of our 3 orders. Table next to us had half wrong. I know they are busy but need more staff and to slow down and listen. Really need a massive renovation lots of dust around, extension cords attached to extension cords doing nothing. Really clear the ownership is milking it and not keeping up with other IHOP locations. Will not return unless it looks like somebody cares.

So So SO disappointed with this place They have a room that has leaking skylights. Water dripping onto the backs of paying customers. We ordered extra crispy bacon. hardly cooked the eggs were nasty runny. And to top it off, when Ordering I showed the waitstaff my coupon for a BOGO brekky. She said it was okay to use. When I went to pay, the manager refused it and said that an emailed one needs to be printed out. We explained to her that if doesn’t state anywhere to print it out, and her waitstaff okayed it before we ordered. she said it doesn’t matter, thanked us, and walked away.

The service here is pretty good, I can tell the regulars and workers here are close and it’s pretty cute. However, the food is not far from what you’d expect from an IHOP in the middle of nowhere. I got the chocolate pancakes and they were good but 4 was a lot for me. I tried my friend’s crepes and it was a nono. I’d say only get pancakes or waffles here, everything else seems pretty mediocre. Also they have two Wi-Fi networks here, both of which you can’t actually access even though they’re free and open. I probably should have asked the waitress about it though.
