I would not recommend this hotel. After our stay i checked the hotels reviews. Several web sites note complaints from noise and inconvenience due to a remodel, with one site posting responses from the manager apologizing for the inconvenience. During our stay the contractors were working on the elevator prior to check out time, and we had a weeks worth of cloths to haul down the stairs. No notice was posted on the second floor, only two buckets placed in front of the elevator door. On my way down the stairs, a piece of carpet was left in the stairwell, a trip hazard. Then we went down stairs for a quick breakfast, it was too noisy to eat from the equipment noise. I have supervised several contractors during million dollar remodels, better planning was possible to minimize inconvenience. We stayed here last year when the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. On that trip, we were very close to the front desk. As a previous firefighter, I quickly dressed and was at the desk in less than a minute. The desk attendant on duty stated there was not a fire, he disregarded the fire dept. I asked how he had time to check the building, he did not have enough time to check. I ended up calling the fire dept to have the building checked. Thankfully there was not a fire, but I always caution on safety. I later spoke to the hotel mgr. after sending a note of concern to the main office. He assured me the employee was reprimanded for the way he handled the fire alarm. The room we stayed in on this last trip was obviously rushed to be booked. No towel bars mounted, hair dryer not mounted, shower head leaked and trim ring not attached, and the closet designed so shallow once clothes are hanging you cannot close the closet door. After leaving this hotel, we stayed at a Drury hotel, a little more expensive but well worth the additional expense. I highly recommend the Drury chain. Everyone we encountered were polite with sincerity, and the food they serve was quality. Check there website before booking at the Baymont, you will be impressed! I later read the reviews on the Drury, all were positive. I wish I checked them out first.

Probably the most impressive Baymont that I’ve stayed at yet. Located in South Springfield and about 6 miles off of I-44, this Baymont has four floors and also has the choice of executive suites that have the jacuzzi tubs in the room for about $ 50 more than the room rate for a double queen bed or king bed room. In addition, there is an indoor pool area on the first floor area as well as a small gym on the second floor(mainly cardio equipment) as well as plenty of parking around the entire building. And yes, there is an elevator in the building to take you to the 4th floor. The breakfast is pretty good. You will definitely not get the typical continental breakfast treatment here. There are choices of waffles, pancakes, grits & gravy, eggs, sausage, yogurt, toast, and some pastries for starters. In addition, there is coffee, tea, water and juice. The seating area is adequate and there is a flat screen television to observe the news while eating breakfast. If you aren’t nourished enough with Baymont’s breakfast, take comfort in knowing that there is an IHOP that is within walking distance(about 100 feet or so). The customer service is good, as expected. From where I stayed at on the 4th floor, it was quiet yet on the first floor closer to the indoor aquatics area, it was somewhat noisy up until close to 10PM. Again, this was expected, considering that it was a holiday weekend. Nonetheless, the stay itself was very comfortable and pleasant.

I stay here fairly often for convenience — bad weather, wanting to be closer to the«city», a late or very early appointment — and this is my favorite hotel in the Springfield area. Close to shopping, decent food, and now an outcall foodservice available?(Plus, it’s right across from where I work — important if the roads are closed, as has happened twice now!) The staff are always welcoming, efficient and professional.
