Where do I begin … The food is awful(half the items where not even available. The service was the worst I’ve had. She was rude and messed up our orders. This place was dirty and I would not recommend to anyone. I’ve had better service and food at McDonald’s

Hands down the worst customer service I ever had, especially since there were all of two tables in the restaurant and three people serving. We were never checked on, the forgot half out order, we had to ask for our check because never came to our table. The waitress was literally standing there doing nothing while we were waiting for our check. The food was mediocre at best. Never go here. Go to the Mexican restaurant across the street, they are phenomenal!

Worst service ever. Hostess sat my wife and I down in a booth and forgot about us. After waiting for 35 minutes for the waiter/waitress to show… we left and went to the restaurant next door. Please note that the restaurant was not busy at that time; only 2 other parties having lunch. A couple arrived just b4 we left and received service and had their order taken right away… wth…selective service??? We are staying at the Pioneer Lodge and chose the Pioneer restaurant because it was convenience to grab a quick bite b4 heading into Zion… it was anything but quick. My wife voiced her complaints to the hotel and it fell on «deaf ears». we are so disappoint w/this place. There are a alot of good restaurant in Springdale, this is not one of them.

Had breakfast here but probably won’t again. Coffee and toast were good! But hash browns were old and the scrambled eggs and sausage links were not great either.

We really enjoyed our omelets. We split biscuits and gravy which was nice as well. I’m Very suprised by some of the negative comments. The homefries or potato were the best part. We would definitely come back when we visit Zion again.

The Skinny: edible, yes… good, not really(2) service: not too bad for a joint like this(3) value: if it wasn’t for the coupon for 20% off the bill when we stayed at Pioneer Lodge plus it was late there are limited dining options when we arrived, I don’t think we will be back(2) It was late. We were tired after hiking over 12 hours and exhausted. We just wanted to eat and crash. So we hit up the hotel restaurant for a quick bite before hitting the sack. As soon as we arrived, I followed my guidelines for ordering at a joint like this. Simple, easily prepped food(like sandwiches and forget the fancy steaks/ribs/prime rib) with minimal perishable items are ideal(ie, salads are a no-go). Avoid seafood like the plague. You’ll at least get a decent meal this way. So what does the hubs do? He orders zucchini sticks and fish and chips. This is despite the look of «are you sure you want to do this?» from me. As usual when it comes to these things, I was right. The zucchini was greasy and the cornmeal coating was overly heavy and unappetizing. Suffice to say, the fish was also in the same type of batter and the same description applied. Fries were really nothing special and we left most of them on the plate. Me, I ordered a reuben which was decent — they used some supermarket pastrami(could have used more) with some okay sauerkraut and melted cheese. Nothing special but nothing horrifying either. I think mine tasted better than the fish and chips. Really, given that we only wanted to get our bellies filled so we wouldn’t wake up in the middle of the night, it wasn’t a bad option at the time. Without the discount though, this place is really pricey for what it is. McDonald’s does a better job for like ½ the price. I would say this though, if you don’t have a discount, don’t come. 2 stars.

Came here on a recommendation from a fellow hiker in Zion. The best things to order here are: 1) Chicken Fried Steak 2) Rack of Ribs 3) Onion Rings-nice beer batter rings. All entrees come with soup and salad bar which is awesome. Their beef vegetable soup was really tasty and I had at least 3 cups of it. DONOORDERTHEFOLLOWINGITEMS: 1) Grilled Veggie Sandwhich: It was horrible! The veggies were diced and there was wayyyy to much feta cheese. I picked out the veggies as much as I could and ate them. Thank God I was already full from the soup/salad bar. 2) Fish and Chips: Holy Cow. these were a poor excuse of F&C. The only thing good were the sweet potato fries. 3) Rib Eye-At first glance, you’re wowed by the sheer size of the steak they bring you. And then you examine it and notice about 1⁄5th of it is FAT. Normally most restaurants trip huge chunks of fat from the steak, but for some reason, they decided to leave it on for 2 of my friends. We complained and the waitress was nice enough to take 10% off the bill. Though this place was«ok», we still thought the food was MUCHMUCH better than Casa De Amigos. Don’t go there for sure!!! Well, go there for the cute waiter Damon. but that’s it! For sure don’t order the Carne Asada plate!

Good basic eats. Prices are a little high though motel guests do get 50% off, making it a bargain. Service was friendly but inattentive when we visited. Mandatory 18% service change on pre-discount amount explains that.

We were told that Pioneer had good breakfast food. I disagree. + nice service — eggs were rubbery and tasted odd — friend felt that the hash browns /potatoes had an odd taste — bacon had too much of the fatty part

Pleasanty surprised by this place. Ended up staying at the adjoining hotel and guests get 50% off their entire menu… The result? Getting to indulge in a lot of things you wouldn’t otherwise for dirt cheap. During our stay at Zion, we ended up eating 3 meals here and the bill was shockingly low. For breakfast, I had their Pioneer skillet(hash, bacon, sausage, with eggs) and the second time around, had their country fried steak. Both were cooked very nicely– I didn’t leave a morsel behind. For lunch, I tried their special which was a rib eye steak sandwich– this was great as well and their fries were good enough to get as a side the next day for breakfast. Service is swift, quality is good… the only reason I couldn’t give them 5 stars was that my beer had some netting like substance floating at the bottom of it(bleh, it was a horrible sight). In any case, I overlooked it and hope that I didn’t eat anything else unappetizing during my 3 visits here! If you are staying at this hotel, you should capitalize on their 50% off deal.

I could seriously lambaste this place. Really. I could. I mean, it’s my job as a Unilocaler to warn people or to entice people into an establishment correct? So why do I feel bad? Probably because the service was nice. Probably because I had high hopes for this place that boasted a 4-star TripAdvisor sticker(by the way I think the sticker is for the adjoining hotel, NOT the restaurant). But, I’m going to put it out there anyway… First off we walked in and the place was empty. Warning bells already. I looked at the menu presented next to the hostess stand I wanted to immediately run away. But my husband lingered. I wasn’t sure what to do as I checked out the Unilocal reviews I began to get cold-sweats — OHNO! But here came the server to seat us. SIGH. I’m in it to win it now. Beginners, my husband and I both ordered the Top Sirloin, which came with a salad bar for an additional $ 2.99. BUT there was no salad bar, so the waitress said she would bring out our salads instead. OK. So, we sit there and then a guy server comes up and explains to us that Fridays and Saturdays they have a Prime Rib Special, which is the same prices as the top sirloin and much better. We opt for the Prime Rib, both of us order it Medium(as a prime rib should be anyway). Out come our salads. I’m not even going to talk about it. Just awful. Period. Out come our entrees. Do I really have to describe this plate? First off my baked potato came out wrapped in tinfoil, which I hate, because that means this tinfoil that was handled by someone in the kitchen is now on my plate touching the rest of my food. Secondly stuffed INSIDE my baked potato are two packets of butter. I cannot even begin to explain how GROSS that is. Butter packets are handled by servers with bare hands ALLTHETIME and you put it IN my potato? UGH. I took them out and scraped the first layer of potato out where the packets had been touching. Next, there was a variety of vegetables all chopped up haphazardly on the plate with a very, very odd mix of spices. Spices that did not go with the veggie medley. I get it, you’re trying to zing up the vegetables, but honestly, just a nice side of broccoli would have been better. And the most disappointing, horrendous prime rib I have EVER been served in my entire life. The server said this prime rib was amazing. I don’t think he has ever had a normal prime rib. It was the thinnest cut of prime rib I’ve ever seen, which is probably why the damn thing was WELLDONE. I kid you not. This prime rib was brown through and through. And what restaurant in their right mind puts out a brown/well done PRIMERIB? CRAZYTOWNHEREPEOPLE. At this point I just wanted to vamoose, so I ate what I could of my well-done prime rib. I asked for some sour cream for my overly-cooked, tainted baked potato. I had half a mind to ask for au jus because they didn’t provide any — AGAIN, CRAZYTOWN, who serves prime rib without au jus? We paid our bill and hurried out, never to return again. The only good part of this entire thing is, we had paid using money my parents had sent us for our anniversary present. So at least this horrible meal wasn’t on me. The food is bad. The prices are WAY too high for what you’re getting. Go somewhere else in Springdale, ANYWHERE else for food.

It was one of the only restaurants open on Christmas. It was bustling and the servers were hustling to get everyone seated and fed. I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portions and the very friendly and efficient service. I had been to so many of the restaurants with good reviews in Springdale in the past and have been disappointed each time until now. Yes, staying at the Pioneer lodge gets you a very nice discount at the restaurant. Yes they add the tip on the bill, but I’m assuming that’s because so many foreigners or cheap Americans don’t understand that they should leave a tip pre-discount not post. I recommend their patty melt and turkey club. I don’t recommend their tenderloin. If you’re used to having nice cuts of meat from fancy steakhouses in big cities, you’ll of course be disappointed.
