La Quinta Inn Cincinnati North

I normally like La Quinta’s, but this one was bad. I stayed for three nights. Each night I was in a different room trying to move to a «cleaner» one, but the whole place really needs some help.
The staff smokes in the hallway and have a smoking room inside one of the rooms on the second floor. This makes all the hallways reek of smoke. Gross!
My first room was really bad– mold all over the shower, mold on the ceiling so developed that it was falling apart, every surface was dusty. The second room wasn’t too bad but then the cleaning staff skipped over it. They claimed that since I had a dog in the room, they didn’t want to clean it (although out of all the La Quinta’s I’ve stayed in before, that has never been an issue. Why wouldn’t the front desk say something when I checked in? I have the sweetest, friendliest little spaniel. I think it was a scapegoat for their laziness).
So then I moved to a third room to have a cleaner place, and the lady at the front desk put me on the third floor in 302. It is a more spacious room, but it was not clean either! There was kool aid or some other red drink, still wet, spilled on the nightstand. Brown and gray dust caked on the headboard. There was a ring in the toilet bowl and a hair on the seat. Literally every surface in the room needed to be wiped down. It was obvious the only thing the cleaning lady did was change the sheets (well thank god for that at least!).
The whole place left me feeling queasy. Had I not got gipped into spending 100% non-​refundable points, I would have demanded a refund and left. I’m so disappointed in La Quinta! I’m surprised the chain still let’s this place use their name!
What keeps this place from getting one star is the two front desk ladies I spoke with were very nice. And at least the AC works in the middle of summer.

As others have said on other review sites, the hallway smells of cigarette smoke. The room, however, was just fine. The room was clean with a fridge and microwave, and a decent-​size TV.
Breakfast could have been better, but it was not bad. There were plenty of bagels & cream cheese, muffins, cereal, yogurt, waffles, juice, and coffee.
The staff was extremely friendly. Overall, I stayed for eight nights and it was a very pleasant stay.

The king size bed was outstanding and gives an extra star to this review. Nice wall thermostat control of heating/​cooling. The clogged tub drain that forced me to stand in water as I showed wasn’t appreciated. The free wifi is extremely slow even for displaying standard webpages. Friendly staff.
