Howie’s Tiki

I went here last night although I did not want to come and I am hooked. I had cheese and wine on the brain. I love the décor, food, and drinks. The waitress was adorable and attentive. Howie, the owner, did an excellent job with this establishment. He is friendly and desires to make great connections with his customers. He has the right idea. I loved how this bar has a cozy little vacation feel to it. I devoured the Howie burger and dumplings. Drinks and food were delicious and I will be going back with friends.

Went for happy hour. Food was great. Drinks were very inconsistent. Even with the same bartender. At $ 8 – 13 a drink I’ll stick with beer next time. $ 5 regular priced Kona brewing is a plus.

This was our 1^st visit. Very comfortable and inviting place. Quiet and great Island music. Prominent bar, with amazing selection of tiki-​style drinks. Loved the Kentucky Mule! We had the hand crafted from scratch organic chicken and zucchini dumplings for an appetizer (6 full size) and really good! I had the grilled Mahi with mango and I can’t begin to tell you how amazed I was. The largest cut and best prepared Mahi dish I’ve ever had – really! Wife had the blackened redfish fish tacos appetizer and loved it. Our waitress was very attentive, pleasant and obviously enjoyed being part of this great new start-​up. They definitely deserve the community support! We will be recommending to friends and returning as often as we can. Loved it!

So happy to have this bar as my 900^th review. When you walk in, you are immediately transformed into the south pacific bar, at night that is. Its dark inside afterall, which is a great atmosphere for this type of bar. I immediately knew I had to visit this tiki — themed spot after seeing it a few months ago driving down 2920. So I finally came in for happy hour one weekday.
I started with the octupus, since it was still happy hour. This particular drink is off the menu. It has gosling 151, passionfruit and oj. For my 2^nd drink, I tried the zombie, one of my favorite cocktails. Theirs has Appleton estate rum, hamilton 151, El Dorado 3yr, falernum, grenadine lime and secret flavors. There is also a limit of 2 on this drink. Other off the menu drinks are the pineapple express and El diablo and a few others I cant remember. They can also make different versions of your favorite tiki drink, like the original recipe version versus the modern version, so just ask
Their tiki cocktails are mostly on ice, as opposed to Lei Low in houston which has several blended tiki drinks. Cocktails range from $ 5-​$ 17. They also have a rum menu, with sipping rums ranging from $ 4 — $ 31.50.
Background music mostly consists of the expected tiki type music, but they also played ozzy when I was there too… so that made things interesting.
Really cool bar to check out if you’re in the area. They also have a pretty stout food selection on their menu, including 44 farms burgers, handmade dumplings with organic chicken and even a lobster roll.
Their restrooms were spotless too, so I give them 3 thumbs up!

Great bar outside of the loop. Owner and bartenders are passionate about craft drinks and great food!

Just had a great meal scrumptious fish, fresh, good flavor (had the blackened redfish) great environment, reasonable prices. Several other items I’d like to try next time.

Quaint place but bad service. Waited 15 mins for our drinks and 2 of my friends didn’t even get their drinks because apparently the bartender was «backed up with orders» even though the place wasn’t busy at all.

Fun environment and cool drinks. A little pricey but worth it for the atmosphere. The food there was good too. You must try the dumplings!

We really enjoyed our time with Howie. He really is doing what he loves and it reflects in his passion for the business. We tried several different drinks and ended up liking the El Diablo and the Moscow Mule with muddled mint the best. We had several different appetizers and enjoyed both the pork sliders and kettle chips the most. We like his approach to healthy eating and cooking with those ingredients. We want to come back and try the fresh fish. Great little place that we look forward to visiting again

You will love this nice little authentic Tiki Bar tucked away along 2920 in between Spring and Tomball, the place is super friendly, clean and SMOKE FREE with awesome drinks with a very generous happy hour selection. The food is wonderful and cooked fresh upon order.
I give the place 5 stars, it really is worth your while to stop in and give Howie an opportunity to make you a wonderful refreshing drink using top shelf ingredients, you will not be disappointed.
This one of the best places to stop in and have a drink and go home smelling fresh and clean, I really love the nice cold A/​C and smoke free air feeling on warm muggy gulf coast afternoon sipping a cold beverage in a nice peaceful setting.

The moment you walk in the door, you’ll be hooked. Laid back and like you are on vacation on a tropical island with some of the best crafted drinks in Houston.

Loved the place! My boyfriend is a Tiki Bar fan so we decided to check this place out. Laid back atmosphere, fabulous drinks, no t.v., great music choices (including vinyl if you’re so inclined) and very friendly staff. Original artwork was a bonus. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends. Looking forward to my next visit.

Great little place! Came here on a Friday night, was a tad slow, BUT it’s the kind of place you go to chill out, not get rowdy. Lots of great drink concoctions on the menu, really can’t go wrong. If looking for a big selection of beer and booze, this is not the place. However, if you are looking for casual ‘sipper’ drinks mainly with rum and sweetness to it, come here.
I give this place an honest 5 star rating. I got to talk with the owner and he is giving everyone a concept that you will not find anywhere else. Nice guy. The bartender is a master of his craft as well. First time review here BUT the first time is all it takes to want to come back.
Give this place a try if you are looking for a laid back atmosphere with well crafted drinks. It is a great place to come and socialize as they don’t have the typical distractions such as loud music or TVs. This place is about coming to talk and chill out. Simple as that.
Hope this review helps. If in Spring area you MUST come try it out. If from elsewhere still the same. A little out the way for some, but well worth it.

SEE MY ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW FOR FULL DETAILS! I saw a 5 star change in the future for Howie’s from opening day and it didn’t take them long for me to add that fifth star!
They’ve kept everything that gave them 4 stars, listened to visitors suggestions and added some GREAT concepts of their own! They have a happy hour with a tiki drink on it, they kept the «off the menu Mai Tai» and ditched the other one. The music is better and they even have a record player so patrons can bring in their very own Hawaiian/​Polynesian/​Exotica/​Tiki vinyl or choose from the house selection. They added a bowl (sharing) drink and may soon add more.
There are things that can still make them even better, but I don’t feel the need to wait for absolute perfection to change my rating!

Fantastic dedication to the craft of cocktails and the tiki bar experience. The owner has spared no expense in careful research and the finest ingredients for authentic tiki bar cocktails.

Great place to kick back and relax. Quiet, stress free, love the shows and music from the 70’s.
