Michelle was awesome from the beginning. I randomly came in with my mother’s vintage, handmade wedding dress and wanted to remake it into something that would fit me, and my style. I had already called and gone in to a few places and was either quoted a ridiculous price, or told that I should just buy a new dress. This, however, was not the case at Colletti Threads. Michelle would not even touch the dress until she got a feel of my style and what i was going for. We ended up talking on the floor, with the dress between us for about 45 minutes. After talking with her, Michelle completely saw my vision and immediately went to work. We refashioned the top of the dress and ended up having to create a whole new skirt due to a height difference in my mom and I. Michelle took all the lace from my mom’s dress and attached it to the new skirt. In short, it was absolutely perfect. I had a custom wedding dress of my dreams that also meant so much to me and my family. She worked with me every step of the way and I could not have picked a better store to randomly stroll in to. PS she also does amazing alterations, as I took in my bridesmaid dress for another wedding I was in and she had it done pronto, and perfect.

She ruined my wedding day. My dress was falling apart. She kept telling me that my dress was coming along perfectly but it wasn’t finished nor was it what I asked for. It looked like a nasty Halloween costume.

I definitely recommend Colletti Threads for all your wedding dress alterations. Michelle was great. She showed such confidence for changing up the top of my dress, as well as hemming and adding a bustle. She was nothing but nice during the entire process and made sure I got exactly what I wanted. My dress fit perfectly — thanks Michelle!

I am forever grateful for Michelle at Colletti Threads! I just got back from a wedding I was part of in upstate NY. Before I left TX for NY I needed my dress altered because I had the wrong size ordered for me. I didn’t find out until the dress was delivered to my apartment in Houston, Texas just 2 weeks before the wedding. After going to two other seamstresses who told me the dress was impossible to fix without changing the design of it, I found Michelle through a recommendation. Michelle was able to fix my dress by decreasing it by at least 4 dress sizes. She worked with my budget and my deadline which were both equally tight and produced a beautiful outcome with only two fittings. The dress was a perfect fit and looked identical to the other girl’s who all had their dresses done by another seamstress in NY; the only difference being– those girls needed minor changes and I practically needed a whole new dress made! The before and after pictures I took are like day and night. I don’t normally take the time to write a review but I felt this one was absolutely necessary and well deserved. Thank you so much Michelle and I want you to know I will be back again in the near future. I have two more weddings coming up within the next two years that I have already been asked to be a bridesmaid in. :) Your efforts and skills are much appreciated and I will make sure to share your contact information with other bridal parties!

I LOVED working with Michelle!!! I bought my bridal gown at The Princess Bridal in Old Town Spring & the sales girl that help me order my dress recommend Michelle & a couple others for dress alterations, Michelle was in the shop helping another bride & I decided to meet with her. I instantly liked her & the bride she was helping raved about her work, so to me there was no point in looking any further! I’m a BIG fan of bling, but I didn’t want to be trashy & I wanted to incorporate my favorite colors purple & sliver, well Michelle did just that. She totally understood my vision even before I did, my dress was already beautiful, but when she added all her special touches my dress was BEYONDPERFECT!!! She adjusted the pleats on the top part of my gown to fit my bust better, she did my bustle & added bead work. Everyone thought the dress was beautiful & it was totally me. My Mom loved the perfect touches she added. She texted me through-out the process to let me know how the dress progress was going, she texted me pictures of all the bead work she was going to add. She was super flexible with times for fittings, I was still in school with a full time job & planning; so things got hectic from time to time. I even forgot one of my fittings because I was studying for an exam & she was more than understanding. Yes, the fittings were at her house & yes her husband was there from time to time, but I NEVER felt uncomfortable, she was always professional & truly cared about what I thought & how I felt. Michelle even made me a beautiful matching headpiece! I remember that I even did a few spins & dance moves in she sewing room because I told her I needed my dress to last a WHOLE day of crazy salsa dancing. I recommend her to every bride I know!

Colletti Threads helped me flush out my vision of re-purposing my wedding dress in time for my 1st anniversary. The end result was better than I ever could have imagined using pieces from all aspects of the full wedding gown. I never could have prepared myself for the emotional reaction from the first cut to the last fitting. Michelle was more than a seamstress, she was a therapist, a visionary & an artist. Thank you!

I LOVE Michelle and CAN’T WAIT for us to finish my dress. She has an expert eye for detail and is truly a visionary. Without her help I would have never had the dress of my dreams! I love that she has included me in the design process so the dress I purchased is truly mine. Thanks for all you do, Michelle!

As much as it pains me to give a bad review to a person who is very nice, the truth is she is in over her head with wedding dress alterations. She did more damage to my daughter’s wedding dress than I can even begin to describe. I am no expert, all I knew was that the dress did NOT fit correctly after many fittings and it just seemed to get worse the more she«altered» it. When it was down to 3 weeks before the wedding, we made the decision to take the dress elsewhere to see what could be salvaged. A new alterations company had to be employed to completely undo everything she had done and much of it could not be fixed. The built in bra straps were two inches higher on one side than the other contorting the dress in many ways. Bust seams were uneven and sloppy, all the layers of the hem were completely uneven… some too long, some too short. Obviously fabric cannot be added back so there was nothing that could be fixed about that. A rip in one of the under layers, Unfinished seams, bust pads sewn in unevenly and in the wrong place, zipper not sewn in in the center of the dress, the sash sewn on crookedly, lumps everywhere from basically sloppy seams and work in general. One of the fabric covered buttons had been replaced for some reason with a white one… on an ivory dress. And worst of all, the bodice was way too tight to the point that non-existant back fat was being squished up like a line backer and the dress could hardly even be zipped up. And to our horror, when the new semstress checked the seams to see how many inches she could get back, she had cut out all of the seam. A seasoned professional does not do that. The new seamstress pointed out all of the sloppy work, uneven seams and downright mistakes and did the best she could do to make the dress wearable for the big day, but let me tell you, my daughter cried buckets of tears worried that the dress was ruined and would not be wearable. She did end up wearing it but, we just had to ignore the mistakes that could not be fixed. That should never happen to any bride so I highly reccommend brides not use Michelle at Colletti Threads.
