Just had an excellent bowl of egg drop soup. Maybe one of the best ive had i devoured a huge bowl of it in minutes. The hot sake was the perfect compliment. Service was fast and friendly. Great lunch spot!

Sent the fiancé to fetch me won ton and pad see ew since I’m sick and as a kid my mom always got me won ton soup to make me feel better. This isn’t my first time here, been here a few times. It’s close and compared to the other Thai place down the street Thai Bamboo is superior. What made me want to review today is, Zack? I think that’s his name. He took my order over the phone and since I’m sick I wasn’t fortunate enough to meet him in person, as I mentioned I sent my fiancé. Zack offered such good service over the phone! By far better than I’ve experienced other places! First of all he used my name several times in the call, but what makes him stand out is that he expressed genuine concern for me since I’m sick. Seriously it was so kind of him! In the beginning of the call he said, «I’m sorry your sick Alia.» Then when I was ordering he said, «Is that all, for you, Alia?» After the call was complete he said, «I hope you feel better soon Alia. Take care.» When my fiancé picked up he said Zack asked about me and said he hoped I felt better soon! Serious! He’s awesome! That shows some great service and concern! As far as the food goes. It’s good Thai. This is the first time trying the won ton and it’s great! You can tell it’s a homemade stock and it hit the spot, much more flavorful than other soups I’ve tried at Chinese restaurants. I love pad see ew and they make it great here. My fiancé usually gets curry the red one and he says it’s full of flavor and delicious! Now you can’t get Thai without a Thai iced tea! Which they make just right. I plan on calling and speaking to a manger if they don’t read this, so I can properly give Zack the kudos he deserves! I firmly believe that you shouldn’t just speak up to complain when service is bad but speak up when it’s great!

From the outside appearance, this might be a drive by for some people, but my dad had scouted it out for my mom’s birthday lunch, even checking Unilocal(he’s a young almost 80). The interior is nothing, really NOTHING, like the outside! Don’t let the curb appeal, or lack thereof, deter you from stepping inside. There’s a lot of seating, and the wall art and the ceiling are very cool. We were seated at a table for six after being asked if we wanted a table or booth. The menu offers many choices, and I chose one of the lunch combos that included Pad Thai, Golden Cashew Chicken, white jasmine rice, and soup for under $ 10. The waitress said egg drop soup when she set it down. This is a very tasty egg drop with portobello mushrooms(nothing like the Chinese versions that I’m used to). I also ordered my food at 3⁄5 for spicy, which was perfect. My parents both ordered 1⁄5 for their Pad Thai with shrimp, which was just right for them. The Cashew Chicken had a lot of veggies, several cashews, and was a great complement to the Pad Thai. I left most of my white rice, which was rather boring. For an additional cost, you can swap it out for a black/brown rice. Perhaps if your mouth is burning up from a higher rating on the«spicy,» you might want to cool it down with the rice. Next time, I’ll ask for them to just hold the white rice. The black tea came in a coffee press and was very flavorful, definitely not weak. I would have the black tea again, for sure! Great experience, cool interior, tasty food!

I love this place! The food is good, with really nice combinations and fairly reasonable prices. I wish I could find a similiar place in my town. The service is excellent and they don’t have an issue with special requests to slightly alter something to suite your taste. I go back everytime I’m in town visiting family, and it never disappoints.

Greasy Thai food! Absolutely not authentic. The décor is beautiful, but if you want authentic Thai food this isn’t the place for you.

Almost everything here is delicious and gluten free! I’m especially fond of the north side location but the menu is great either way.

So Thai place very nice inside good atmosphere, however pretty much everything we ordered tasted bland and very un-Thai. Problem: they didn’t and don’t seem to use fish sauce… Weird This is a chain and maybe it was a fluke but really no fish sauce?

I’ve been to thai bamboo on the north side before so when the craving for thai food hit I thought I’d try the one on 29th. I ordered a D5 dinner combo and, because I also really love vegetarian options, the Rama Garden. The D5 has cashew chicken, pad thai, rice, butterfly wontons(crab ragoon) and mini spring rolls. The cashew chicken was so great. By far exceeds another nearby thai restaurant’s option. The pad thai was sticky and the flavor seemed slightly tomato-ish to me which I haven’t experienced. But I know all pad thai tastes slightly different so this could be a variation I’ve never tried. The rice was, well, rice. It was unnecessary for my particular preference so I didn’t eat that. Butterfly wontons: no. I love crab ragoon. Regularly an ordered item. These were not pleasant. They tasted like nothing but fried wonton. I ate one and left the other two even when I took my to go box. The spring rolls had the same problem. Just fried wrapper. No filling was noticeable. So overall that combo did not do it for me. The Rama garden was excellent. The tofu was good. The sauce was great. The other veggies were of a perfect soft with a crunch consistency. I loved it. The only downside on this one was the tofu piece sizes. You wouldn’t serve someone a giant chunk of meat, fish, etc. Giant pieces of tofu are hard to eat politely and without choking also. The staff was polite but so awkward. I walked in. Was seated. Then my server stood there. At the edge of my table just waiting. I asked if he needed something. Only then was I asked my drink order. I ordered water. I drink maybe 6 – 8 glasses of water in a meal at an Asian restaurant. My glass sat empty 4 times for 2 or more minutes each time. I was one of 2 patrons in the restaurant seated right by the entrance and exit to the kitchen as well as the serving station. I would say with this food and service combination I won’t be returning to this location. The rating was saved but the excellent effort of the chef with the Rama garden and cashew chicken.

Great Thai food conveniently located on the southhill! They serve delicious and large entrees for reasonable prices; I love their crab wontons! They make it really easy to order by phone whenever you’d prefer takeout over dining in; they don’t have a ton of parking but I have never had an issue finding a spot. A great place to go if you’re in the mood for Thai!

Inedible. Tried the panang curry with tofu and pad thai with tofu. Pad Thai was bland and boring and insanely greasy. Curry had a layer of grease sitting on top. Couldn’t eat more than a couple of bites of either.

I’ve now eaten at both locations. The most memorable thing was the bill! I can’t believe how expensive their food is. I’ve eaten at way better Thai restaurants for less. Lots of mixed emotions about this spot. The food is so, so. Not horrible, but nothing worth writing home about. Curries are beyond spicy even when you request the least spiciest ones !!!

I wanted to like this food, spent $ 50 hoping for a better quality than panda express but unfortunately got much much worse. Mongolian beef was like slimy beef jerky and the orange chicken was like slimy chicken jerky. Our meals did not come with rice, had to pay extra for that. The spring rolls were bite sized(one spring roll = one bite) and didn’t know that when I ordered it. They weren’t very good either, very greasy. Sad day :(

One of our favorite places to go in a pinch, the South Hill Thai Bamboo provides the same menu as the north side location, only with 150% less crazy outside décor. The menu is huge, but we usually stick to a few favorites. Namely, Spring Rolls, Tofu Pad Thai, Fried Rice and anything with curry in it. We always have enough for dinner the next day, which is great because we are usually too lazy to cook at least twice a week!

After driving by this place for a long time, my wife and I decided to stop in during restaurant week. It was at the $ 18 level. My wife went with the spring rolls, red curry(3⁄5 hot), and black rice sticky pudding. I chose the crab rangoon, cashew chicken(3⁄5 hot), and fried bananas! Our server was Amy, who was awesome. She checked in with us enough, but not too much. She kept our drinks full and was very pleasant the entire time we were there! Appetizers: the crab Rangoon was delicious! They are definitely worth trying. Spring roles were a little bland, but hey — that’s what the delicious sauce is for. We probably wouldn’t get them again though. Entrée: I’m not much for curry, but my wife said it was very good. The 3⁄5 heat was good. Spicy enough, but not too hot. My cashew chicken was really good. I like spicy, but I ordered 3⁄5 and added chilli paste to heat it up. I’d definitely recommend it! Desert: the fried bananas were really good, drizzled with some carmel. It’s basically a mini spring role filled with banana. Try them, you won’t be disappointed! My wife loved the black sticky rice pudding. It had an oatmeal consistency, but tasted like a sweet vanilla pudding. It’s also worth a try! Overall: service was excellent and food was delicious. We will definitely be back!

I’ve been to this restaurant quite a few times. There have been times when the wait staff have been pretty slow, they may have been new. Most of the time the wait staff are very friendly, nice, and helpful. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great! I really like the Thai music usually playing and the sculptures. The food is always good whenever I go to the restaurant. My favorites are the phad thai and the swimming rama. I really like their jasmine rice. Their hot tea and thai iced tea are really good.

This place has started to go down hill a bit in the last year or two. Whether dining in or getting take out you have a good chance of your chicken being overcooked and dry. Even if you order five stars the food isn’t very spicy, there is also no kids menu which is kind of a bummer. That said, when and if you get a properly cooked meal here it’s actually pretty tasty.

Really delicious flavors, great spiciness scale that left my husband and I both satisfied(I’m a weenie, and he likes his food to set his face on fire). Great vegetarian option on what looked like most of the menu. And a huge menu! Cool décor, great friendly service. Neat Thai fortune rolls with the bill… Except mine said«a change in scenery is in order» and I’d prefer to keep the scenery and go back to Thai Bamboo!

Had a lovely lunch with the family. Dad was very happy with his big bowl of noodle soup and the rest of enjoyed the curry(red and yellow) and sticky rice. We also had the fried tofu for the first time and it was pleasant surprise. Nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We will be getting that again for sure. The server Geno did not miss a beat and was great. Thanks for great food and nice service!

Two stars. This has a double meaning in a Thai restaurant. When your food has absolutely no kick whatsoever, perhaps you measure it in Kelvins. OK, moving on to the food… The Chicken Satay was properly cooked, but the peanut sauce had absolutely no flavor. It was like Skippy out of the jar. Number 51, the Mongolian Beef, was a total disappointment. Either it had been sitting since yesterday’s lunch, or perhaps it was one of the original members of the Donner Party. If we had wanted something non-perishable for our next expedition, we could have picked up something at REI.(To their credit, they took it off the bill.) The Cashew Chicken did not seem quite fresh as it should. We’ve had this regularly since the 90s. We are experienced consumers of Cashew Chicken. And Cashews, in any form. We’ve found fresher ones in the cup holder in the car. And it did not seem as good as the Valley or North side locations. The Green Curry, however, was subtle and balanced, the only well-executed dish this evening. We wonder if they walked across the street to Trader Joe’s, heated it up and put it in a bowl. Three beers later, and still waiting for a napkin. No thanks to the complimentary dessert.
