i waited more than 30 mins for a calzone with meat and vegetables to go. this was on a weekday @~5pm. i don’t remember exactly what i ordered. however, the lady who’s probably the owner is very nice. the calzone tasted good obviously but it was way too watery! it tasted like it didn’t cook enough but i know it’s tricky with veggies inside. this is a pizza place i feel like they should’ve fogured out how to perfect a calzone with vby now

A 30 year customer. Will not return. Called order in at 410pm. Drove from Otis Orchards just for PETES. We know the food here isn’t fast food. We walked in to only ONE other customer who was served within minutes of us arriving. We waited patiently until 5pm WITHNOEXPLANATION from staff regarding the delay. At 505 pm we approached the counter n expressed we needed to leave, the female employee snapped at me that it was only going to be 5 or 10 more minutes. With that I found it inexcusable that our order would take OVER an hour at a slow time. With no apologies either. It was obvious our order was forgotten.. So come tell us that. I would have been less mad if you were honest and apologetic. We received neither. Huge disappointment. No longer making that drive to support rude incompetent staff. If she hates her job that much perhaps she should find a new one.

Anything worth having is worth waiting for. Our first time at Pete’s was indeed enjoyable. My wife and I shared a Calzone. Mmmmmmmmn! We are definitely returning.

Dealing with a rude and confrontational hostess was annoying. It was little consolation to see her treat the next couple just as badly. Their calzones are famously good, which is perhaps why they get away with such amazingly poor service.

Okay pizza — sauce was boring needed more zip & just more of it. Toppings were good. Crust was on the bready side. Friendly wait staff.

We got take n bake calzones today. Let me just say, the Calzone King is an appropriate moniker! The dough is flavorful and soft and chewy and delicious. The fillings are full of flavor and cheesy goodness. Yum. Just… yum. I grew up in NY, and have eaten at least 20 calzones in my life. I’ve had some good calzones, ok? Fuggedaboudit! This is the best I’ve ever had! Thank you, your majesty.

I would have given no stars but that was not an option the chicken bacon ranch was watery the crust was paper thin on top not cooked on the twist we had a meat city pizza the meat was pre cooked and over done the sauce was watered down and flavorless tasted at best like a store bought pizza …

I came into Spokane for just the day on business and one of my coworkers raved about how the calzones are beyond good here. Being optimistic we came here for lunch and I ordered the chicken bacon ranch full size thinking I would be taking half back to the hotel. The next thing you know my plate was empty and I’m left thinking WOW!!! That was the BEST calzone I’ve ever eaten!!! Every time I come through Spokane I will now be stopping at Petes!!!

First, a note on parking. If you go around the back of the building there is a lot more than available trying to park on the street in front of the place. The décor inside is very comfy, and they have the requisite red and white checkered curtains of any Italian themed restaurant. I always wonder how that started. But I digress. Prices are very reasonable, and they have two sizes of calzone if you have a smaller appetite. They claim to be the calzone king, and having spent three years on the East Coast where the calzone was born, I had pretty high expectations. Here is the breakdown. Sauce is great. Little bit of a kick but probably tolerable by kids as well. The cheese is gooey and stretchy like good mozzarella ought to be. And the ingredients they stuff in there are great as well. However, the crust did not wow me. It wasn’t horrible by any means, but if you are going to call yourself Calzone King, you better bring some serious buttery crusty goodness on the outside to pair with the great stuff inside. Overall a good calzone, but not king. That being said, I am not on the East Coast so this is a pretty good substitute. I would definitely recommend this place to any calzone fan. They have Buck ‘n’ Opie’s root beer here too, which is my favorite brand, so that makes me happy. They also have a good selection of beer and wine for the grownups as well.

Legendary calzones… literally unmatched. Pros: –Quality ingredients –Huge portions –Friendly staff, clean and casual restaurant Cons: –Be ready to wait the 20 minutes they warn you about. I always call ahead because I can’t stand to wait those 20 minutes knowing that I’m about to eat a Pete’s calzone. The anticipation is too much for this young person to handle! –was a little expensive for a college student but I still managed to budget for one calzone a week while I was at Gonzaga.

Wowed by the chicken bacon ranch calzone my wife and I split yesterday. Highly recommend it. It was our first time sitting in since their renovation and it was very nice and clean. Framed pictures of scenes you would see in Italy I think where pleasant to have on the walls. Good service.

I grew up two blocks away from Pete’s on Sharp and my family has been regularly going here for as long as I can remember. I love the thin crust of the calzones, which is probably my favorite food of all time. I don’t think I’ve had a calzone that even comes close to Pete’s in how good it is, but also in how it’s made. All other calzones seem to be extremely thick dough and are way to heavy. Petes buttery thin crust lets the toppings taste come through. Plus you get the big doughy crust around the edge to get your bread fix. I personally like their pizza, but can see why some might not. The calzones are definitely the specialty, and as others have said, they take 25 minutes. They just very recently made their biggest improvement of the property with an actual parking lot, a really nice outdoor patio, and a new interior with separated entrance and waiting/ordering area for people taking them to go, which happens a lot. I’ve always said, if I ever get a tattoo, it would be a Pete’s calzone on my shoulder… the one thing I will always love. :)

Searched for a great pizza place and took a chance on Pete’s as it showed 4 stars. All I can say is YUM! From the crust to the cheese, all was delicious. Thank you. The crust was a tiny bit overdone but even with that we all agreed it was delicious.

Calzone was great! Crust was nice and slightly crisp on the outside. Could have use a little more meat in the one I ordered but the other ingredients were plentiful.

Pretty good calzone but seems like they almost used puff pastry versus pizza dough. Very«lite» dough which does make it nice that it’s not like you are stuffed from a heavy calzone. The light dough means you get a giant hole of air in the calzone; they look pretty but you cut in and it deflates to about an inch thick. Good service but expect some wait because calzones are the specialty here.

So, I have been on a, thus far, futile search for amazing pizza since I moved to Spokane nearly a year ago. I had hope for Pete’s after reading good reviews and hearing good things in general from locals. Sadly, my hopes were wasted. We went pretty simple with the pizza and ordered a large with pepperoni, sausage and onions. The guy at the register was friendly and professional. The service in all was pretty good. The wait for the pizza seemed a little lengthy for as slow as they were, but good pizza deserves patience, right? Once we got our pizza, it was obvious that they over cheesed the hell out of it. Pizza is the one exception to my rule«you can never have too much cheese». Why? Because it makes the pizza heavy and soggy with grease. It compromises its entire structural integrity, for the love of God!!! Anyhow, that was just the case with this pizza. Really, REALLY soggy and greasy. I was only able to stomach 2 pieces before calling it quits. As badly as i wanted to like Pete’s, its just not worth a return trip.

I’ve been going here since I was a little kid, playing the old school pac man game in the back hallway. Small hole in the wall atmosphere and never feels fully redecorated even though the interior changes every few years it seems(I stop in whenever I can when I’m in town seeing family). The parking is on the street parking and often busy from what I recall but I’ve always been able to find parking. I do suggest calling ahead, especially if you have kids with you. The wait is a minimum of 25 mins from the time you order. If it’s busy, expect to wait a while. Knowing that though, it’s definitely worth the wait. The crust is delicious and perfect, the sauce is good and they definitely don’t skimp on the ingredients. I’ve searched for a better calzone for years and years and haven’t found any that come even close. Delicious! FYI, I always order their Hawaiian(canadian bacon, olives and pineapple). Everyone I’ve ever brought loves them as well.
