I promise that I am not making this up. We have been to Frank’s diner many times for breakfast, and thought that we should try it out for dinner. I was just in the process of ordering a turkey dinner when the waitress actually sneezed on me. I felt spittle on my face. She didn’t apologize and she then turned to my husband to take his order and sneezed on him. Then she sneezed again and we said that we needed some time to think about what we were getting. We quickly snuck out. This was one of the grossest thing that is ever happened to me. my husband and I were blown away with how weird it was that she did it in the first place and that she didn’t even apologize. Careful going there.

This is a cute little diner for small groups. The diner is actually an old train car, or built to look like one. The seating is limited and narrow. There is a set of bar stools, when you first walk in, which makes for a cozy homey feeling. Very clean atmosphere. From the pictures I’ve seen, of there food I was thinking it would taste delectable, however I thought the pancakes where bland. They didn’t have the buttermilk taste I was so looking forward too. They do have large portions and the price was good. The service was impeccable — so, I give the service 5 stars. The food I give only 3 stars — overall rating 4 stars.

You can’t go wrong with Frank’s! Sometimes when a place has multiple locations, one’s not quite as good as the other, but that’s not the case here. Both locations rock! My favorite thing on the menu is the country fried steak. Oooh, and the bread pudding. They have several yummy gluten-free options(mostly omelettes) — they use that Franz gluten-free bread that’s really good. But generally, if I’m in Frank’s, I’m going to have a gluten feast, swollen tummy be damned!

FIRST it’s in a remodeled TRAINCAR! The inside was gorgeous and comfy. The food was great. We had the chicken fried steak and the chicken burger with great satisfaction. Their mashed potatoes are homemade from scratch which was a great surprise! The peach cobbler was heavenly… make sure to get it al la mode to cut the sweetness of the Cobbler. Excellent dining for a «diner» can’t wait to go back!

Best breakfast in Spokane, hands down! My husband and I always get the Eggs Benedict. I love that the servers are friendly and keep my coffee cup filled. Sometimes there is a wait, especially on weekends, but it’s worth it.

The best way to describe my first(and last) meal at this Frank’s Diner location is as a plate of «we don’t care». I arrived shortly before the lunch rush, was told to seat myself, and I chose a two-person booth. I ordered ham and eggs – eggs over easy and on top of the ham steak, and crispy hash browns. My order arrived in less than five minutes. The eggs, while nicely cooked but woefully underseasoned, were delivered on top of the hash browns. I think that the waiter realized the error as he placed the plate in front of me, and then uttered«that’s okay, right?». I was surprised that he would even ask, and then I realized that he did not want to correct the error(maybe he doesn’t get along with the cook, or maybe he didn’t want to waste product), so I accepted the plate. The ham steak was barely warm and had not developed any crust from its scant time on the flat top. It tasted like salty pork, not that sweet and savory delight that can be coaxed out of even the most mediocre product with just a little skill, time, and caring. The«crispy» hash browns were simply burnt hash browns, left to cook in oil until they reached a shattering crispness. These hash browns were clearly on the flat top for more than five minutes, and I get the feeling that they were likely headed for the trash until I made the convenient mistake of requesting«crispy». For some reason, Frank’s Diner has a shining reputation in the Spokane area. I have dined at the other location on several occasions, and while the food has never reached the levels worthy of the praise that others heap upon this establishment, it’s was always decent. Maybe it’s just a problem with the north location. That said, I doubt that I will ever return to either.

This was the first time I’ve ever been to Frank’s, and it will definitely not be the last either! The food and service was great. I had the spicy creole omelet with hashbrowns, and it was the best decision I ever made. I normally don’t eat omelets with seafood in it, but the lobster gave it a great flavor. Every single bite was just bursting with flavor. It also came with a biscuit, and I’ll give you a tip… order a side of gravy, and you won’t regret it. The mimosas are delightful too. I left there with a good buzz. The atmosphere was welcoming, and all the staff were friendly and all greeted us as we walked by. Our waitress was sweetheart, didn’t miss a beat, and gave us everything we asked for. Everything was just amazing!

I had eaten at the other location years ago and remember it not being so good. Came to the Newport location today for breakfast and I gotta say I was totally impressed with the food and the service! But the food… my goodness was our breakfast good! We came at an off hour, about 2:30, to avoid the crowds. The restaurant was empty so we got to pick our own booth. I ordered«the works» omelet and my significant other got the seafood omelet. The breakfast came with hashbrowns and a biscuit. I also got an order of pancakes and we each asked for sides of country gravy. Now, Im not one to exaggerate but the food was outstanding. Both of our meals were prepared and cooked perfectly and the taste was spot on. I was so impressed! And that’s not the Mimosas talking! In addition to our delicious food, our server was very friendly and expedient. We were not lacking at all, in anything, our entire visit. It was one of the best breakfast dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Definitely the best breakfast I’ve found in Spokane thus far! I will be returning to Frank’s Diner the next chance I get for another incredible breakfast! In my opinion, it has earned it’s title: «Best Breakfast in Spokane!» Rare for me to give 5 stars but you’ve earned it Frank’s!

This is one of the favorite breakfast spots of my family that lives in Spokane. Breakfast is served all day, and at 1PM on a Thursday, a couple of us were in the mood. Due to limited space, there’s usually a wait, but we were greeted warmly and sat immediately. Excellent service continued through our entire experience as meals were delivered in a timely manner and our server kept up with all of our table’s needs. After reviewing the menu, I ordered Frank’s breakfast combo which included 8 dollar sized pancakes, my choice of 2 jumbo sized sausage links vs. bacon, 2 eggs, and my choice of biscuits vs. toast. Our server thoroughly reviewed all of our choices for the meal and offered many tempting additions that none of us opted for. I was worried that I was not going to get enough food for the $ 13.75 price, but I was sorely mistaken. There was plenty of food and and I was pleased with taste, especially the fluffy dollar pancakes. Both the hash browns and the biscuits had crispy exteriors and warm, fresh interiors. There was no freezer burn anywhere near our table, nor was there any remnants of my meal left on the table as I polished everything off. Also ordered from our group was the Conductor’s Derailer($ 15) and a BLT. For breakfast, along with the traditional favorites, there are benedict, omelette, and griddle sections. The other side of the menu has all the lunch and dinner options which includes a full selection of burgers, sandwiches, and dinners. I’ll have to try some of these entrees after I make my way through more of the breakfast menu. Frank’s Diner is for anyone that can eat breakfast at any time of the day and likes classic American food. The atmosphere is unique and nostalgic which can attract kids and adults alike. You’ll definitely find us dining there again.

Found this place here on Unilocal while working in Spokane from out of town and Soooooo glad we did. The food was amazing! Had the hot open faced turkey sandwich, hot opened face roast beef sandwich, corned beef sandwich, grilled cheese, pepper steak, and a side of delicious fried green tomatoes. Everything was Soooo delicious we wish this place was back home in California! And don’t forget the apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream!

If diner food could be elevated somewhere between fine dining and ‘greasy spoon’ awesome comfort food, Franks has done it. This is not your typical diner nor what you would expect of diner food. The food here is well prepared, delicious, and everything and more than you would expect to find in a diner — no wonder it is a local favorite! This place is definitely worth stopping in to if you’re in the north Spokane Washington area… the entire menu looks amazing and they are sure to have something for everybody. I had a jalapeño burger with an egg on it, my wife had a Reuben sandwich. As already stated, this is definitely not your average greasy diner whatsoever. Everything is fresh and incredibly tasty… even the hash browns were perfectly done. I actually do not even care for hash browns very much based on past experiences, however these were finely chopped and the perfect balance of not too dry and not too sticky. The burger bun was very light and delicate, bacon fresh and thick, and the meat was cooked exactly how I ordered it. One ‘pet peeve’ I have when ordering an egg on a burger(or sandwich is that is is prepared correctly(i.e. it actually has a runny yolk) — they nail it! Yum! The Reuben sandwich was also very tasty, and everything seemed to be made fresh from scratch right down to the bread. It is no wonder their food has won awards — both dishes were a hit for sure! So stop in for a great breakfast or lunch or even a dinner… Definitely worth it!

First the ambiance, it’s inside of an old rail car. Look around and you see signs warning that people caught spitting on the platform or between cars are subject to a $ 500 fine and/or one year in jail. It’s narrow so there’s approx 4 booths for 4 people and 4 booths for 2 people. There’s a counter in the front seats approx 10. We sat at the counter and saw the 2 cooks prepare all the meals and honestly not a single item looked bad. I opted for the meatloaf dinner and it didn’t disappoint. My wife picked the turkey pot pie in a bread bowl which I sampled and it was very tasty. One item you have to pick is the biscuit. Bread comes with the meals but pick the biscuit. It’s a home made biscuit that they cut butter then stick it on the flat top. That melts the butter into the biscuit then seals all hat flavor in. They were simply Devine. Oh and the portions were large so if your not hungry they’ll give you a half sized portion on most dinners for a discount.

First and last time here. Fish and Chips: Got WAY more chips(like 70% chips) than I did fish and even the fish had more burnt batter than actual fish for $ 15.50?! Should have gone to Dave’s Bar and Grill instead for the same meal, but actual more fish than chips for $ 12! Chicken Fried Steak with Hashbrowns and Eggs: Cheese as a topping over the Hashbrowns cost $ 1.25! And the steak was overcooked. Service was average. My date and I didn’t have much in common, but boy were we mutually displeased with this place.

I love every single thing about this place The ambience, the food, the staff. Our whole experience was positive. We came in around 8pm so it was pretty quiet the menu is a little overwhelming, so many delicious choices. I ended up going with the chicken and waffles, because well, duh. The chicken was moist, but crispy on the outside. The waffle was fluffy and wonderful. There were 3 of us in our party, and we did not order lightly, the total at the end was shockingly low considering the level of delicious. I wish I lived in Spokane so I could come back every week.

Frank’s Diner is inside a train, so cool! We had a small wait for a party of three. I ordered a mimosa with Little Frenchy as my breakfast choice. It came with a side of French toast, one egg, and either sausage or bacon for $ 6.75 and a side of hashbrowns for $ 3.50. THEFOODWASDELISH!!! Prices are reasonable and the service was great! The staff was really friendly which is always a plus for me. I normally don’t comment on the restrooms but i appreciated how clean it was. Give this place a try! I would recommend it to everyone and plan on stopping by the next time I’m in town.

Excellent service makes a meal perfect. The wait staff, servers and kitchen staff were all very pleasant helpful. We had the works omelette, which was good but I have had better, but with the service combined it was worth it. It was not noisy, plenty of parking and very kid friendly. I would not recommend large parties because they only have 2 person and 4 person booths.

Growing up on Long Island and living in MT for the last 12 years had made me miss diners so much. My husband and I went here one morning, and have been here 2 more times since! Their food and service are amazing! The service staff is cordial and accommodating – giving me real cream for my coffee whenever I ask for it. I absolutely love their corned beef hash! It’s not greasy at all, tastes homemade and you can really taste the spices in it – especially clove. They are beyond excellent! Everything tastes so fresh and delicious! This is our new favourite breakfast spot!
