We were in Sperryville for lunch after visiting Hopkins Ordinary Ale Works. We needed some food before hitting our next stop over at Pen Druid Brewery. I ordered a cup of the chicken chowder, and the crab cake sandwich, sans the bun. The chowder was solid, but the crab cake was outstanding! The Cajun Aioli served with it was delicious! I could have spread that on cardboard and it would have been good! Service was good — looking forward to coming back here again and trying some other menu items!

My wife’s aunt and uncle live in Sperryville. We were visiting on our way back from vacation and needed a place to stop for lunch. The options in Sperryville are very limited and we decided to try the Thornton River Grille. It was a cute restaurant with nice décor. The wait staff was very nice and food came out relatively fast. For lunch I had the Grilled Vegetable Salad with Smoked Salmon. It was a good salad. My salad didn’t have as many portobello mushrooms as I would have liked but everything else was very good. The roasted red peppers and the zucchini were not mushy and it had a ton of smoked salmon. The best part of the salad was the fried goat cheese. Overall a very good salad. For the limited options in Sperryville I would gladly go back.

Immediately upon arrival we were asked if we had reservations and when we said no, they suggested we go next door to get pizza. The restaurant was empty but there wasn’t room for us. We were looking forward to relaxing here but were never given the opportunity.
