Meh, I wouldn’t recommend bringing your appetite. The food was good but the portions are small. The cup of crab soup is about ½ cup. Husband got the $ 16.99 chicken parm. The chicken breast was a little bigger than a nugget. Our friend got the mushroom app, it was more like a side of boring mushrooms. Cool atmosphere, fast service, our server Amanda was very knowledge but had a very fake tone in her voice that was almost exhausting. There’s no way you use that tone of voice in your normal life.

Food was awesome. Take the advice of others and make a reservation during peak time. Atmosphere is great along with the views. Service was a little lack luster but the beer was cold.

Visited last week for lunch. Our party included my mom and 2 sons. The food was great. All 4 of us selected the fried shrimp & oyster combo. Both the shrimp & oysters were perfectly cooked. They were tender and light. Not at all greasy. The house mac and cheese is equally wonderful. Our server Patrick, was quite good. I’m so glad we stopped in on our way home from New Orleans.

It was okay. We usually go to The Oyster House, but tried it instead. We had to wait awhile for a table, and ended up smashed in a corner facing the kitchen.(Ask to be seated with a bay view.)Our server was attentive at first, but seemed new or overwhelmed as the meal wore on. The raw oysters we had were GREAT! This is a testimony to gulf oysters not to Felixs talents. My order came out wrong, and it took a long time to correct it. Their«Fresh catch» wasn’t. One choice was from Vietnam, and my husband’s Mahi Mahi wasn’t fresh. It was heavily breaded with no sauce(he had to request tartar sauce.) The green beans were canned and the recommended mushrooms could have used some more butter. The prices aren’t bad, but next time we’ll go back to the Oyster House.

Great location, fantastic views and a fun atmosphere. Started off with the crab soup, seafood gumbo and fish tacos. Backed oysters, tuna and a fish special for mains. Rave reviews for the oysters other mains where also good. Service was great. Not the best food we’ve had but worth a visit.

Great view of a thunderstorm in the gulf and that crab soup… Fantastic. Dropped a star for having to redo my entrée(wrong style), otherwise it was great!

We returned on a Sunday evening. I think everyone had packed it in and went home leaving a clueless skeleton crew running the place… Having worked in restaurants all through college, I recognize when the soup was made days before and water added to stop it from congealing. We literally bussed our own table before we sat down and thank goodness we had a previous experience or the surly service, uninspired food and cluttered tables around us would have left a horrid impression. WHEREWASFELIX? Who was minding the store?!

We were on a cross country trip and stopped here for lunch on recommendation of a friend. It was packed and had a wait time for seating, but that was ok. I was really looking forward to a great lunch, but unfortunately everything was so salty it really ruined it for me. The Gumbo was tomato based, very light, and not at all what I would consider to be an authentic dish. The crawfish, oysters, green tomatoes, and«famous» comeback sauce were all so salty it tasted like they had been doused in ocean water. My husband had the red beans and liked it ok, but also felt it was heavily salted. The service was good, but overall the food seemed rather over priced considering it was nearly inedible. Maybe the fish is better, but I have no plans on returning to find out.

The food is absolutely wonderful but the service here is incredible! They ask every table if they are celebrating an occasion, there are always waiters checking on the tables, they are very friendly. Even things as small as opening the straw package for you. Excellent!

GREAT seafood.(And I’m picky about my seafood.) We had Crab Soup at the suggestion of our waiter, and it was crave-worthy. Rather like a chowder, but so delicate and full-flavored. Also shared fried crab claws which is a personal favorite. They were big, meaty and perfectly fried… not over-breaded or overdone. I had a fried shrimp poboy which is huge and really delicious. Again, these folks know how to fry seafood without mutilating it. Light, crispy and not greasy at all. Also, I have to say, our waiter JT is one of the best servers we’ve had.(And we were just in New Orleans eating at a couple big-time, white-tablecloth restaurants.) I don’t always gush about service, but he was remarkable. Ask for his section. He’ll help you navigate the menu and serve you whatever you want with superb hospitality.

Outstanding. Great place, food and view. Well priced. Think ladies restrooms need some fixer maintenance attention. I highly recommend this place, service was comparable to a fine dining.

A must stop coming or going through Alabama ! Love this place. Everything on menu Delicious. Really enjoy sitting by windows and looking out on water. Can’t get enough of the crab bisque, Fried Shrimp, Green Beans, Fried crab Finger, Key Lime Pie. I’ve got to quit talking about how good this place is and go plan my next trip through.

The crab soup was superb! The mojo special(grilled whitefish and shrimp with lime, grilled corn and black beans) was good. The key lime pie was good as well. I will definitely return.

Good quality ingredients. Creative recipes, well prepared. Very courteous, attentive staff. Rustic venue in a beautiful and relaxing setting. All this combines to make for a great dining experience. So many more things on the menu to try. I’ll definitely be back.

We visited for dinner on a Wednesday night around 7:30p. Décor: The typical Nautical-themed decorations with a romantic twist — it was really dark. At night, the restaurant is lit only by candlelight on every table and very dim recessed lights in the high ceiling. I had real difficulty seeing my menu until I used my cell phone for extra light. Service: Melissa, our waitress was outstanding. She welcomed us and once she found out it was our first visit, she explained the menu, their fresh fish specials and their award-winning dishes. Also, she directed our attention to the view of Mobile Bay, the city of Mobile and the USS Alabama Battleship. We really appreciated that information. Finally, we ordered and enjoyed the sweet tea while we awaited our food. Food: The sweet tea(another Southern staple) was very sweet, but I expected nothing less. We shared(Our server had the kitchen to separate the soup into two cups for our individual enjoyment) our only appetizer, the creamy, award-winning crab soup. After tasting only one spoonful, I could see why it won awards. It was very thick and creamy with bits of tasty, succulent crab. Our dinner arrived with«pomp and circumstance». The presentation itself made me want to devoured everything. On our table was grilled speckled trout, grilled whitefish and grilled speckled trout almondine. All three entrée’s were unbelievably seasoned well and tasty. Nothing was overly salty or spicy. Our sides included cheesy grits(American cheese), corn/lima succotash(slightly creamy), sautéed mushrooms, mac & cheese, cheese cheese(3 types: Monterey jack, cheddar and Parmesan) and green beans almondine. Also, each one of the sides was scrumptious. Although, I wanted to try the bread pudding, I didn’t have room for any kind of dessert :-(. So, I couldn’t experience any«southern sweetness» tonight. Overall: I enjoyed everything about my dinner experience except the dark restaurant. Although this was only an issue as I tried to read the menu in preparation to order. After I ordered and did not need to read the menu, the ambiance did not seem so unilluminated. On my next visit, I’ll try to come during the day to have that experience. I plan to return to sample more Gulf Coast seafood.

Sometimes Felix’s is 5 star. Sometimes it is 3. You can’t beat the location, view and ample tables for dining. However, it is pretty open and the acoustics aren’t so good. The Coopers have also incorporated the«multiple waiter simultaneous presentation» methodology which is way overkill for this casual dining event and always leaves me feeling a bit weirded out. You will never go wrong with the turtle soup, she-crab soup or shrimp and grits. The salads are not exciting but crisp and fresh. Fish is too much of a gamble for my money. It is often over-cooked to the point of ruin. If you are a tourist the staff with gladly take your pictures and no one will snicker about it.

We came here on a Sunday for lunch. I was expecting to wait but the restaurant is HUGE so there is ample seating. The customer service is beyond exceptional. My favorite part is how there were four of us and four waiters placed our food in front of us in a grand production. My friends had the crab bisque and they loved it. The waiter said it was the most popular item on the menu. For my meal I had the broiled crabcakes served on top of fried green tomatoes. It came with two hush puppies and a side. I got the mac n cheese. All of it was excellent. The cocktail list is decent sized. I got the mint julep which was served in a mason jar. It was yummy. The restaurant sits on the Mobile Bay and has gorgeous views. It is just down the road from the USS Alabama Battleship Park.

Easily the best baked oysters I’ve had in south Alabama! The cheese was about as gooey as the oysters so the texture was all the same. The seared ahi tuna had a wasabi mayonnaise touch to it. It was perfect. I always want more wasabi but the level was just right. to compliment to tuna without overpowering it. The Felix’s Herb Crusted Whitefish was delicious fillet that was lightly smothered in Dijon sauce. My mom finished this in about 2 minutes. There was also a dish with shrimp that looked like they were trapped in a meatball. It was very rich and good in small portions. The wait time is long but there is a bar area that allows you stalk out a table and bring out the Black Friday monster in you as you fight other hungry southerners for a seat. It took about 20 minutes for me to make this mission a success. The service was excellent. Once you make eye contact with a waiter in the bar area, they make you feel like you’re the only customer in the restaurant.

For how long we had to wait, and for sheer absurdity, this place might deserve 1 star. I’m giving it 2 because the kitschy-vibe is cute, it does have a great view of the bay, and some of the food was decent. (The crab soup, which should have been called crab chowder, was delicious, my mom LOVED her lobster appetizer, and my husband was a huge fan of his freshly shucked, ginormous oysters). That being said, despite the cute white tapered candles — this place is not fine dining. In fact, they«dropped»(or forgot?) our entire order once, and then screwed up my mom’s so that by the time she could eat, we’d been there 2.5 hours! What makes all this even more absurd is the fact that they have a ton of waiters(for our table of 7 — 7 waiters) come out at once to set each plate down at the same time. Really? Do you think you’re a 3 Michelin star restaurant? How about get your act together in the kitchen, realize you’re just a middle of the road restaurant, and bring food out promptly without the undue pomp and circumstance. About my main all I can say is the pork chops were decent and warm. The prawn sauce they were supposed to be served with came cold, and on the side of the plate around them. The grits they sat atop were mediocre at best. As far as I could tell — everyone else(particularly my parents) were too irate to enjoy their dinners. At least now they get to try other spots when visiting Mobile. Other items of note: The Caesar salad sucked, IMO the camp salad was bizarre and the artichokes were too strong, but other ppl found it to be OK. The fried green tomatoes weren’t bad.
