I can still only give 4 stars for the reason mentioned earlier. Good service for sure. Employees are friendly, courteous. Good steak for sure

Just a really great place. I don’t know what all of the whining is about. Those people only give negative reviews. If you want to eat good food that fills you up with love from the heart of Rocky Balboa, go here. If you want to cry about a wet sandwich with no meat because you’re an unhappy vegetarian, take a hike sista!

Used to love this place. Quality of service has went down to deplorable. I don’t understand how a place that used to be so good and had good service has gotten so bad. But when the excuse for your food 40 minutes + late is «sorry the person who took your order sucks». Is a crappy excuse.

Ordered from them for the first time waited over an hour to get a call 15 minutes after my food should have been delivered telling me my food won’t be coming due to driver issues. Now 8:30 and I’m ordering food elsewhere that won’t arrive until probably near 10pm.

Joeys Philly cheesesteak has now let me down twice. I used to love this place when I was a lifeguard down the street, but they have really taken a dive. A couple weeks ago I ordered a veggie sub, called«The Faker», and it was awful! The faker is loaded up with vegetables and provolone cheese. When I got the sandwich home, the sandwich was so wet that it leaked through the paper and the paper actually ripped and stuck to the sandwich. Once I peeled off the sopping wet paper, as you can imagine, the bread was also sopping wet. It was disgusting. I didn’t finish it and I threw most of it out. I gave Joey’s another chance last night. I ordered some sweet potato fries along with my parent’s order of cheesy bread and subs. They didn’t mind their subs, but take a look at the sweet potato fries that they gave me. I am attaching a photo. Last time I ordered the sweet potato fries they were actually pretty good. They had cinnamon and sugar on top of them last time. This time, they actually dumped about a half a cup of brown sugar on top of the fries and called them done. Because they put so much sugar on top, it was easy to get the brown sugar off by shaking the fries. When I tried the fries, they weren’t even done. The oil that they cooked the fries in tasted really bitter, too. Joeys, I don’t know what happened to you. Maybe you hired the wrong young guys to work? I don’t know, but this was the most disgusting two tries in a row. I won’t be back.

Used to go to the Garden City location(but now closed) when in Motown and cheesesteaks we’re some of best outside of Philly. Went to Southgate location and while good, I’d say I’ve had better at Joey’s before. Messed up order(added onions) — normally not biggie but did same to table next to us– so not a 5 star day

Their just ok to me, I’ve had better cheesesteaks in the Detroit area, definitely worth a try if you’re in the area but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back…

Not sure what is going on with this place. The last few times I’ve tried to call and place an order, the person answering the phone has hung up on me. Same thing happened when my fiancé called.

We love Joey’s. Although we’ve only tried the cheesesteak and the death by cheesesteak. The latter is just too much in my opinion, yes it is possible to have too much of a good thing. It is out of the way and it is a little pricey but very much worth the effort to get there. We have never had a bad experience and will be back.

Sandwich was ok. Not to different from any other philly. I don’t think I would drive to this location again just to get a philly. It was just satisfactory. Waffle fries were pretty amazing though withe the cheese sauce. I would like those again I think it was waffle fries with old bay seasoning and cheese wiz! Pretty good if anything I would suggest the fries!

Joeys was always a GOTO& a 5 star experience in the past, but something has truly changed, as you could count on a fresh Amoros’s bun & tender ribeye… Quality Size Both are lacking… Taste was still very good… but the cheese steak with, was just okay. Which is sad as I set my taste buds as I left Indianapolis, and called ahead & ordered it when I I hit mile marker #18

A buddy at work had a craving for these cheesesteaks and offered to go on a office lunch run. Ordered the Pizza Steak(steak, mozzarella, & tomato sauce) with pepperoni and mushrooms. It was delicious! Sweet tomato sauce, hearty beef steak, and spicy pepperoni– what a combination! I think I’ll ask for the sandwich to be toasted next time to make it a true pizza sub, but no complaints here. Looking forward to my next Joey’s cheesesteak!

To start off the menu has a billion & one option’s…therefore the taste excitement was ready for yum… Note*** if this is a local stop for you, I believe you would agree calling your order in is the best way to go. Or, you wait & wait & wait, take some time to give birth & then wait some more, just sayin’ !!

What a disappointment. We’ve been to Joey’s in the past and they are really going down hill over the last few years. I ordered The Broad Street Bully and it looked like slop in a box. The«fried onions and grilled tomatoes» were barely cooked. The bread was delicious but the meat portions are about a 1⁄3 of what they used to be. The«special sauce» just tasted like mayo that was colored orange. Nothing special about it. My husband’s cheesesteak looked a little better but was underwhelming and the meat serving was short and his bread was stale. The chipotle sweet potatoes were not seasoned and served with some warm mayo — GROSS! Two sandwiches and a large(poorly prepared) chipotle sweet potato fry set us back over $ 25. We are never going back. If I want a cheap cheesesteak, I’ll save some money and go to Subway. They have better sauce and fresh toppings. Get it together Joey!

I stopped by because I happened to be in the neighborhood. There are 6 whole seats in this place, and my two friends and I took up two of the three booths. No matter. I’ve eaten in my car outside Joey’s plenty of times. I got the 6-inch cheesesteak special — steak, onions, peppers, mushrooms, and both kinds of cheese(provolone and cheese wiz). The sandwich is pretty generously sized and absolutely delicious. I’ve love to tell you about the other stuff on the menu, but frankly, the cheesesteaks are so good I’ve never ordered anything else.

Joey’s…what can I say? The commercials, though cheesy(pun intended), definitely draw you to their establishment. After seeing one of those stupid commercials for the 100th time, we just had to go to Joey’s. Since my first visit, I have been back multiple times. Each time I have had a slightly different experience. So, here’s the quick breakdown: The cheesesteaks are yum but it does depend on your visit. Meaning, it’s hit or miss. They have never been gross by any means but I think only 2 out of the 10 times I have ordered the cheesesteaks(Famous Philly wit wiz) they were actually delicious. All other times, they were pretty good but not orgasmic. They have some good sides as well. Pretty simple sides so yes, it’s kind of hard to screw them up but mentionable nonetheless. The broccoli cheddar bites are wicked good. Fried little bites of heaven. The garlic knots are a nice treat too if you are a bread fan. Overall; hit or miss but again, it’s never been awful. A-Okay in my book.

The morning DJ on 955 swears by this place. I peaked Ken’s interest and we made the trek to Southgate. Definitely eat in, even though it is damn tiny(Liz W is not kidding, 2 tiny booths), or else you’ll end up with soggy, sweaty sandwich. Not good. We get the Cheesesteak Special every time, which has double cheese and sauteed mushroom. We’ve also tried and liked the Broad Street Bully. Make sure to ask for the hot or sweet peppers to go with your sandwich(that spice just makes the whole thing for me). The Old Bay dry rubbed wings were awesome(ordered crispy), as were Mike’s Bay Fries(which, guess what, have Old Bay on them). Funny story… I was driving home from the airport, taking side roads because the freeways are all jacked, and I almost ran off the road at Middlebelt north of Ford… there’s a new Joey’s in Garden City! WooHoo! We tried it, same great food, but closer.

My husband and I went on a special mission to Joeys to find out there was absolutely no seating save for two tiny booths that were both occupied. We ended up taking our stuff home all the way to Belleville which really marred the experience. The sammies are big. My husband had a philly cheesesteak minus onions with extra cheese. It was on a soft type bread and was very tasty. I missed the cherry pepper topping on it I get at Gabriel’s in Ypsi though. I had an Italian Stallion sandwich that was so gross! The meats all had a very bizarre taste I could not put my finger on. I ended up chucking it as my husband hated it too. it was on great crusty bread but it even smelled like feet. My cat turned his nose up so what does that tell you? I would go back but for further cheesesteak experimentation only.

Joey’s was voted MetroTimes«Best of Detroit» 2006 and was awarded a Food Network ribbon for the 2009 cookbook for cheesesteaks! These babies are gooood! You can get a 6″ or 12″ on the Amoroso’s rolls and made with delicious ribeye steak! I have gotten carry-out from here several times and have yet to be let down. They pack a lot of meat and a TON of cheese in these cheesesteaks, so much so that when it’s about to fall out the end when I bite, I always scoop it back up and tuck it in between the bread, and save it for another bite. The best around… subway can’t even come close. And it’s cool to see celebrities and even local celebs that have signed off their«approval» of the food! You’ll have to do carry-out or delivery. No eating in this little place… and the best thing about that is, when you get home the grease has set in to the hoagie roll perfectly, mmm!
