Great course layout. However all the waste areas have overgrown with clumps of grass. I’m told it was laid out that way. Golfers want a course that tests them but doesn’t frustrate them. The average golfer on vacation wants to have fun not get beat up on bad breaks like being stymied by a clump of grass in a waste bunker. Course managers must not understand the concept of customer satisfaction. Besides making the course unfair it slows play down. It’s not like this course is ever going to be in the top 100 public golf courses. If your an average golfer looking for a fun experience, don’t come here and spend $ 100 to get frustrated. Too many others courses for us.

This review is for the Dogwood Villa only(1960’s ranch home in total disrepair)… Disgusting. I can’t even believe they rent this house out. If I were the operating group I would be embarrassed to put anyone in these rooms let alone 5 couples. Kitchen was filthy, stove not functional, no pots/pans/utensils, coffee cups only, all else was plastic. Nail clippings on the carpets, old socks/clothing under some of the beds, mold, spider webs in the corners of the sliding glass doors that had large bugs in them, non locking sliding doors, no screens on windows, dirty pillow cases, smelly pillow/shams…the list could go on and on. DONOT rent this property… The golf course was spectacular… and I understand the rooms at the Inn are quite nice… but this old house«villa»??? …stay away

The best brunch in this area. Best value. Nonstop mimosas. Amazingly rare lamb. Raw Oysters and crab galore. Amazingly professional, quiet, swift staff. Décor is a tad out dated as is common in this area but it almost adds to the quaintness of the place. If you are lucky, you might catch one of the guests playing the grand piano!

The rooms are nice but customer service is terrible. I booked a room and was told I would have a golf view and was quoted a price. When I got here my room did not have the golf view and when I told the guy at the front desk I was ok with staying in the room for the lower price he did not accommodate the lower price because I was there with a wedding(even though I was originally told two different prices) and said he would talk to his manager which he never did. Very rude for the entire conversation.

This review is for the golf course only. I am a big fan of Donald Ross courses, and this one is one of my favorites. Small, push-up greens that are in perfect shape. The greens are Bermuda and absolutely outstanding. Be sure to be under the hole or the ball can get away from you. The course is very challenging layout. And just a fun course to play. The tips aren’t too long, and the fairways are pretty wide. You don’t need driver on every hole. The redesign is awesome. Most of the tee shots are visually intimidating with the waste areas. I can’t wait to come back. This is a must if you are in the Pinehurst area.

Sunday breakfast buffet is a decadent treat. Prime rib, lamb chops, oysters on the half shell, crab claws, complimentary mimosas and bloody marys, omelets made to order, gourmet salad bar, crab salad, fried chicken, bacon, sausage, and most anything else you might wish for.

I am writing only about the course. This one is a 1921 Donald Ross design that is absolutely beautifully landscaped. The course from the whites plays a bit over 6000 yards which is perfect for someone who has not swung a club since October. The course is fair with super challenging greens. The greens are fast and very readable but you have to trust your observations. If it looks like the put you should be out 2 feet to the left of the hole then hit it there. There are in fact huge swings on the puts even though the green breaks look more subdued. Pace of play is a bit of an issue. Unlike Pine Needles this course is a bit of an ant hill with golfers everywhere. Expensive but worth it.

Eek! This is the stuff nightmares are made of! It’s a beautiful antebellum exterior but the interior has not been updated in YEARS!!! The hotel room floors are bowing, the AC is noises and rickety. The bathroom has exposed water pipes and tired décor. The tub has lots of rust and mildew. If I wasn’t here for work, I would have checked out and gone to a hotel where $ 200 a night buys you something clean and fresh. Gross!

I live In PInehrust and have the variety of Sunday Brunches to attend, which we have taken in many, always looking for a lovely well done one. I was so pleased when we decided to take in Mid Pines. The staff was helpful and seated us by the window as requested even though they had to quickly make up the table for us.(Many other restaurants sould have just said it wasn’t available) And they treated us like family. This is by far the best Sunday Brunch in the area. From all the salad makings, fresh vegetables, chicken, fish and a carving station of Rib Roast of Beef and Encrusted Leg of Lamb. The dessert was delicious and so pretty, you didn’t want to take a bite, but we did. This brunch also includes a Memosa or a Spicy Bloody Mary. Yum to those too, we tried one each. It’s a no wonder Mid Pines calles this their«Signature Brunch» this is something to be proud of. We will be back soon.

Course is over priced for the condition it is in. Fairways are in pretty good shape but the tee boxes are rough at best. Pace of play was horrendous. 4 hours we made it to 14 with 3 groups waiting at a par 3.

Our anniversary falls on 1⁄1 so hubby never forgets it. Unfortunately it’s also a hard day to find a place to dine at. But with instructions at hand for the evening meal, hubby made reservations here and we proceeded to take the drive out from Raleigh. Road warriors like we are I didn’t mind the drive and conversation, but more important to everyone would be the food. I am happy to report that the staff was warm and welcoming and the food was top notch. The dining room was beautifully decorated and the music playing was perfect. We were treated like royalty and everything was cooked to perfection. From warm bread, to the salad on chilled plates(I think that makes it even taste better) to the New Year soup to bring good luck, all flavors blended together really well. My crab encrusted grouper with asparagus and potatoes were excellent. Hubby chose the lamb which melted in his mouth. Dessert consisted of a chocolate hazelnut mouse and hubby had the key lime. Even the coffee was freshly made. Not only worth the drive but Also the cost of the meal which was not at all as high as you might expect it to be. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this as a great getaway from Raleigh for a lovely meal– or stay!

We were here for a golf weekend. Had the $ 545 package for 2 rounds including golf for three nights. We stayed at the Holly Villa which is on the 10th tee. The Villa is a little older but have 6 bedrooms. The rooms are not modern but if you are there with a bunch of guys don’t worry it serves its purpose. You have ice maker, small frig and they bring extra cooler if you need for beers. No kitchen. The beds are a little small for you bigger and taller folks. We did like the fact the backyard was on the back of the 10th green. The golf course is in great shape and moves pretty quick. The bar area is nice. The only down side is the front desk. They weren’t all that helpful and didn’t know anything about our packages we got. April even told my friends that golf was not included. Other than that it was a good all around trip.
