Came here last Friday for happy hour and really enjoyed myself. There was a line for the bar, but that’s usually the case. I got my usual whiskey and ginger. I’ll be back. Free DiNapoli’s pizza every Friday, which totally saved me from drinking on an empty stomach.

When I read about The StandBy hosting karaōke night on Tuesdays, I decided to drop by to check it out. I arrived at around 10pm and there was plenty of parking in their private lot also along the street. The place wasn’t too packed which was fine for me and they had a good amount of people doing karaōke as well. First off, Roger Niner is a great Karaōke Jockey. He’s very easy going and always let the crowd know who’s coming up on the song queue, even going so far as to letting you know if someone picked the same song just in case you wanted to change it up. The bar is very inviting and they have a long list of specialty cocktails and beer. Overall, it’s a really cool dive bar with very nice crowd, solid drinks, and plenty of tables. I’ll definitely be back again for another karaōke Tuesday.

Great little dive bar with good drinks. We had an awesome bartender with a fun personality(cute latino with the beard?) He made some tasty and strong drinks while making us feel welcome. The décor is pretty nice inside so it’s refreshing when you come into the door. Good space and a great place to relax with a drink. Be back soon!

I love this place, but I wish they had some more snacks — those little bags of chips just aren’t going to cut it. However, it seems like they might let you bring food in, which is swell, even if it did inspire intense jealousy on my part of the guy who came in with an entire pizza. * drool * Great selection of beer on tap — I was really impressed. I can just see snuggling in over by the fire with a board game and a beer some wintry night after work.. . until we get hungry, at which point we’ll need to leave.

Just turned away my group and said we don’t take your kind here. Save yourself trouble and just go to Molloy’s a few miles away.

A group of us went here on a Wednesday evening. Nicole was a great bartender(after 8?) and even gave us free mysterious rootbeer shots(as we were buying lots of drinks). Would love to come back.

Pretty decent as a dive bar goes. I needed a place for a cold pint after arriving at my hotel and finding that the bar in the hotel closes at 10:00 pm(Hilton Garden Inn North — close to SFO). Another HGI customer told me about The StandyBy — I found it on Unilocal and used Siri to navigate over. It was less than 5 minutes from the hotel to the bar. It was a cool evening out, and so the front door was propped open. I found a spot at the bar and ordered a pint of Dorado Double IPA(10.0% ABV), Ballast Point Brewing Co., Paso Robles, CA). The bartender, Nicole, was very nice. Her little dog Lola(I believe that was her name) was holding forth behind the bar with her. Lots of folks in here quaffing Ales and mixed drinks, laughing and having a good time. I believe their is a $ 10.00 or $ 15.00 minimum to use a credit card, so I paid with cash. I did not see any menus — I’m not sure if they serve any food. Some folks brought their own pizza and chicken wings in to eat at the bar while they were drinking. Pretty decent selection of craft beers and Ales.

Great little bar. I love the bartender Nichole. She’s got a great personality and suckers me into the pricier drinks every time! She’ll introduce you to the regulars and remember your name. Quite impressive. Tuesday Karaōke is absolutely en pointe. Great crowd, great KJ, and just a lot of amazing talent. I’ll happily return as much as possible SO worth it!

Only place in South City to get a drink on a week night after 10:00 pm and everything is on point, booze choices are all great and not cookie cutter, staff is warm knowledgeable and real. Thanks for the place to wind down after a long day!

Few of the things they advertise. No pool table which is why we went. Crowd was good. One main seating room.

So much fun. Clearly a bar with a lot of regulars, but the staff and patrons were all super welcoming and awesome. The bartender that night, Nicole, made excellent drinks. The doorguy was super nice, and the place felt very chill and safe. Roger Niner was awesome with the karaōke setup. A consummate host – making everyone feel included and keeping the rotation going briskly, with great sound. Also, he probably has the best songbook in the Bay Area – I saw so many songs I’ve never seen anywhere else! I can’t wait to come back and try new songs.

This place is horrible, garbage of a business. You either are accepted in there click of wanting to be a customer of theres or your like the many others I’ve spoke to recently that have been told they are not welcome there with no explanation. I am cool, I just wanted an explanation no matter how discriminatory it was. Big ups to ROger NINer, screech on my tires an the tire smoke in the face with a bird to the rest . Shame on you disrespecting me an the other customers like that. THere are no good nights to come to this joke of a place anymore. I was telling this dude who was telling me I am not welcome tonight” well not tonight so what night is a good night to come then??“ I just got ignored like this guy at the door thinks he’s better then me. Well I am not the only one, theres others that have had this treatment. The staff here must think they are the kanye west of bar people with there noses all up in the air and all.

Melissa, the bartender, is awesome. So is the manager/owner guy that I met on Sunday for movie night. I really enjoyed this bar. They have a nice selection of beers including a 10% abv stout that was very effective. The people who come here are friendly, fun, and relaxed. Overall it was a nice experience and next time I’m in South San Fran, I will definitely stop in. Also, Don’t let the this bar’s outside appearance stop you from checking it out.

My favorite :) home of all of my favorite bartenders! Nicole, Melissa, Bryan and good ol’ Albert. Tuesday night karaōke was my kryptonite. Carey’s alright too, haha.

Not a bad place if you’re looking to meet up with friends near the city, without actually going into SF(or live/hangout in So. SF). Very laid back, board games, decent music, cheap and tasty drinks, plentiful parking, easy to find. The only negative is that on a Friday after a certain period in the evening, it seems to get flooded with a douchier crowd than usual. I attribute that to forced coworker bonding of some sort.
