Love the BBQ chicken plate… good sized portions. The waitresses have always been attentive when I dined in, I don’t think I have ever had to ask for my water glass to be refilled more than once the 3 – 4 times I’ve dined in and I drink a lot of water. Definitely the best service at any Asian restaurant, and better then non-asian establishments as well. The reason I’m only rating 4 stars is because I haven’t tried more than a few different dishes yet.

Unbleivable menu and great service. Food is fantastic. Had the ribs and wings of angel. Everything is new and fresh. Must of change owners but now a hidden treasure. Try it for sure. Great fish tanks to enjoy. What more can I say?

I’ve been here before and was satisfied, but last night I was disappointed. I called in a take out order. It was hella bland and they were stingy with their condiments when I wanted a few to go. My Thai iced tea came in a child’s size to go cup. I’ll be back to give them one more shot.

I found this place through a wife’s work dinner and was very happy that I went. The restaurant is located at the plaza north of Westborough Square, so there’s plenty of parking. Though the setting may seem a little plain and dated, it is still clean. I’m a huge fan of their Drunken Noodle and meat. Every time the food is brought to my table, the aroma and steam enters my nostrils, making my mouth water uncontrollably. It may be too hot sometimes, but the taste overpowers the heat(but you may not want to do the same). There’s a bit of spiciness tacked in with it, so I do not need to make it any spicier. My wife gets the Jade Curry, and that is also very flavorful(although I prefer mine still). Even though it does not come with a bowl of rice, you can order one additionally, and they have different types of rice for you to choose from. Pricing is very reasonable – it may not be as cheap as other Asian hole-in-the-walls, but after eating here, I always feel very satisfied as the food always hits the spot. The staff is very friendly and nice – just like how a mom and pop restaurant should be. ! Thanks! kòp kun!

Intro to my visit/experience: I initially heard about this place through a coworker about a year ago and decided to go with some friends a few days later, after hearing good raves and reviews. My coworker recommended the angel wings, which are chicken wings stuffed with the filling inside imperial rolls at Vietnamese restaurants(this probably does not make sense until you actually try it). As a lover of Thai food, I couldn’t wait to try this dish for myself as I haven’t heard of this dish being served at any other Thai restaurant. What I ordered: –Angel wings with a side of shrimp fried rice a.k.a. House Special #S6(comes with a sweet and sour dipping sauce) What I enjoyed: –The angel wings were amazing! I still don’t really understand how they do it, but definitely one of their specialties and a fan favorite here. If you like imperial rolls, you will LOVE this. –I tried swapping out the shrimp fried rice with chicken friend rice, but the waitress said this couldn’t be done for whatever reason. I’m glad I wasn’t able to, because I was pleasantly surprised with it. There wasn’t much shrimp flavor to the fried rice, but the shrimp in it was quite tasty. –Big portions — you can share this dish with someone –Quiet atmosphere for the most part –Great place to take family and friends What could have been better: My only complaint is that all of their house specials include shrimp fried rice. As I mentioned above, I really enjoyed the shrimp fried rice, but I think they should at least offer an alternative to it in the case of seafood allergies. I get that it’s prefixed and it keeps it simple for their chefs, but it would definitely be a plus if they could offer alternatives in the future. End Note: I come here every now and then, and usually I order to go and call in before I pick up my order. Definitely one of the few good Thai places close to Daly City, and they have many delicious house specials to choose from! The angel wings are a must!

South SF has been my second home due to work. So of course I had to browse around to see what local restaurants they have to offer. I would always pass by this place and would not even think of eating here because it looks so run down on the outside. But my bf is pretty much my little experiment rat and tries everything out for me before I can go. Hehe. I’ve been here maybe 4 – 5 times and the food is super delicious! Their ribs and shrimp fried rice is cracking. Ask for extra sauce that they give you and douse it all over. Their drunken noodles is also delicious. It’s my newfound favorite! I’ve tried their soups and I don’t recommend them because they’re a bit bland for my liking. But they put them in these small individual pots over a flame in front of you, it’s pretty cool. Service is also friendly too. They always greet and thank you, they’re all super polite. Usually when I ask for a to-go box, they box my leftovers for me. Soooooo nice. Their interior and exterior is a bit outdated and a bit dirty, but their tables and booths are never sticky. A remodel will definitely do them some good tho. Probably the best Thai food in South San Francisco. You won’t be disappointed!

On my recent visit I ordered the Sate Beef Lunch Special To-Go. I highly anticipated the shrimp fried rice, peanut sauce, and the Sate Beef, but in turn was struck with disappointment. Come to find out, the servings shrunk in size and my satisfaction taste level went from an above average score of 8 to a mere average score of 4. How can this be? My once loved Thai restaurant in the Peninsula has left me in disappointment? Here’s a breakdown of what I’m talking about. The skewer, which once was packed ¾ of the way with meat, is now ½ of the entire skewer. It may not sound like a big difference, but when you have 5 skewers and each are ¼ smaller that’s like getting 4 skewers instead of 5. My Math may not be accurate and my estimation is subjective, but I definitely noticed a difference in size. Moving on to the side of shrimp fried rice. There was no sea creature to be found. :(Just rice with a scoop full of peas on top.(which may I add, i dislike) All in all, Thai BBQ just isn’t the same. :(

It was a little crazy in there that felt a bit ignored. We finally ordered angel wings, basil eggplant, noodle dish and mussaman beef. Steam rice. All were pretty good but mussaman beef was very soupy like. We’ve had it where it was gravy like but this was watery soup like. There was a staff person and notice he’d bring foods but sometimes he’d cough without covering his mouth. It was disturbing. When he brought our food we didn’t see that but others dishes for other tables, he did the uncovered cough. It wasn’t till after our order was delivered that he coughed. Maybe the fumes from other dishes caused the cough. We won’t be back tho.

Im sorry to say that the quality of this place is poor. I’ve had better at other Thai places… It felt like a fastfood restaurant like Panda Express, McDonalds, etc… It quality was SUPERPOOR… The price was«fair» and the portion size was«excellent» but the QUALITY!!! WASAWFUL!!! I bought the honey duck and it was near $ 13… It didn’t really taste like duck or honey… It had some shrimp fried rice… The fried rice and the honey duck tasted the same regardless of what I was eating… They had to many veggies for the dish… It was also super hard to navigiate because I felt like there were bones EVERYWHERE… I had the option to take it to go but I decided not to. In the end I had $ 13GONE!!! I was still hungry! And I felt disgusted… There was another customer in front of me who was complaining that the food was cold… The lady said… We will give you the rice for free… But the rice came with the meal… All he wanted was someone to either heat it up or make him a fresh food… Two unsatisfied customers in less than 5 mins apart from each other… DONOTGOHERE!!! In contrast, the menu was beautiful, and the interior design was awesome! The food could use A LOT of improvements…

The ladies that work here are so nice. The food is great and the it is usually not extremely crowded, so you can get a seat almost immediately. They have an additional room that is great for groups. You can call in and order ahead for pick up or order through Eat24 and order from there. Their crab fried rice is amazing and I love their Pad See Ew. I also like their peanut sauce. Easy, convenient and quick. Try it out!

This has been one of my favorite places since I was a child. It is still the place that has my favorite chicken satay and peanut sauce, and I’ve not found another Thai place that does their yummy rice. I’m pretty much set with chicken satay over rice. With my family, we end up accidentally fighting over who gets another piece of satay.(Luckily, I’m the eldest, so I often win by default, without a fight.) Actually, I can remember being little and just calling it «orange rice». I’d only ever order that as a kid, and my younger brothers ended up following in my footsteps. To this day we order chicken satay and orange rice. I’m pretty sure the owners think we’re weird for not calling it… just rice. Or fried rice. Or whatever it is. The orange rice is where it’s at. It’s one of those spots you go to when you’ve lived in the area your whole life. Lunch time is one of the best times to go since they’ve got some excellent lunch specials, including that awesome chicken. When I visit my family in South San Francisco, this is often the thing that I’m absolutely certain I want… but it’s also something that I tend to forget, which is why I’m writing this Unilocal review. It’s a reminder of all the deliciousness and remembering that, as an adult, I’m totally allowed to buy myself two orders of chicken satay over rice. Whatever. I’m an adult. I do what I want. In terms of service, it’s always been pretty quick. Since I’ve been here so long I don’t think I really notice the service much; if I’m in the restaurant I’m spending time with my family and that’s the main thing for me. I’ve gone here since I was a little girl, so it’s always been the place of a nice place to get together without having too many folks hovering over you. Not the warmest of hospitality, but hey, I’m not going to complain if there’s chicken satay and peanut sauce. Sorry. I’m pretty sure this review was mainly, «I like this place because chicken satay and orange rice and also because family time is nice,» which isn’t necessarily wrong.

I don’t normally post reviews, but after my experience here I had to… I came here with my boyfriend and our daughter around 9:20 for a late dinner, but as soon as we walked in to get seated they told us they had already closed for the night. However, the hours of operation on Unilocal and on their outside sign clearly said 11am to 10pm. Long story short, they ended up seating us after asking if we could get take out, and telling us that if we eat there we need to be fast. The waitress handed us our menus and not even 5seconds after asked what we wanted to order. We waited a little under 5minutes for our chicken satay, fried rice and pad Thai, which was rushed, cold and was a half ass job. They handed us the bill two bites into our food and demanded we sign our bill so they could close the registers. We ended up leaving before the other people eating there before us. Very upset with this place. I’m glad my daughter threw rice all over the floor.

Thai barbecue not the most original name for a restaurant. Nevertheless very good. I’ve eaten here many times before. Have never had a bad meal. Food is always been brought out hot and tasty. Very plentiful and portions. The Thai chicken is out of this world good. I always feel I’ve eaten too much food when I go there. You will too. The ribs are not fall off the bone but they’re close to it. Still tasty. Curry has the right spice to it. Oh let’s not forget about the complementary shrimp fried rice. Tonight we came just for dessert which was a fried banana ice cream and the sticky mango rice. Both desserts including tip cost is $ 15. Bargain for the quantity and quality of dessert. Will come back again.

Thai Original BBQ’s interior could benefit from a makeover; a simple update would transform their well-worn booths & dark carpeting from depressing to more comforting. Simply put, I don’t feel happy eating here. The drab interior sets the tone, but unappetizing menu offerings solidify my dislike for this place: Mushy pineapple fried rice. Smoky-tasty pad Thai with shrimp that didn’t taste right. Watered down Thai iced tea. So-so chicken satay. Oily tom yum goong soup(hot & sour broth tasty unclean, it’s the only way I can describe it.) You’ll have to excuse my unforgiving review, but there isn’t anything for me to look forward to here.

I ordered for pick up. The waiter said it will be done in 10 minutes. I grab my keys and I’m headed out the house. I like the efficiency of this place. You order and they have your food ready by the time you get here. The food portions are average size. Not too big, but not too small either. I had the Chicken Pad Thai and the Tom Kha Gai. The Chicken Pad Thai wasn’t too bad, but it was too great either. It’s not to the point where I say, man, this Chicken Pad Thai makes me want to do backflips and sprints! It’s good, but not great. The Tom Kha Gai soup was exceptional. I love this soup. It’s creamy, yet spicy. It’s good for cold days and especially if you’re sick.(I happened to be sick) The only reason why I gave this place 3 stars is because their prices are off the hook! When I walked out of there it cost about $ 22 bucks for these two items. It’s an okay place to eat, but damn, $ 22?! I’ll take my money to another Thai restaurant like King of Thai Noodle.

When you first walked in, you think okay this place don’t look too shabby. Looks like your average Thai restaurant that has affordable prices. I mean don’t get me wrong It’s not your Osha-Thai, high-end expensive Thai Restaurant that has Umbrella’s and flowers at the end of your plate… If you want something quick and affordable, then you came to the right place. We ordered their Fish Cakes as appetizers. The service was good. Waitress came out with our food pretty quick, the fact it was rush hour too. It was surprisingly delicious! I couldn’t get enough of the side Cucumber dish that came with it. My favorite! Also, we ordered their Angel Wings with the Shrimp Fried Rice. So Tasty, I love how they have their special sauce that comes with it. Chunks of pineapples with sweet and sour sauce that just goes so good with the chicken, I just couldn’t help myself but to almost finished it. The portions is also excellent! They give you soo much, I had to have my boyfriend helped me clean my plate. If you’re ever in the Daly City area and you feel like Thai at a decent reasonable price with a good amount portions, Definitely come to Original Thai BBQ!!! :)

Making Thai food isn’t just a skill its a craft that must be perfected. So it’s no shock that not every Thai Resturant can do it at a high level. It’s an art form to combine the proper foods with the right amount of flavors in order to come up with great well balanced Thai food. Although I know this place has been established for years and clearly has a decent amount of reviews to go along with it. I was not impressed at all with the food and felt it came up short in sticking to traditional Thai flavors. My first time at any Resturant I like to try and run the gauntlet of that restaurants menu in order to get a good grasp of what they put across to their customers. So when I decided to come here with my wife, we made sure to get the most popular dishes here such as: the Fried wantons, Tom yum soup, and the fried shrimp rolls as starters. For our main course we had the: Pad see ew, the chicken ruby lunch meal with the shrimp fried rice and the beef satay lunch special. The fried wantons and the fried shrimp rolls had a burnt oil taste(as if they used the same oil to fry everything). The fillings were non-existent and simply felt like it was all wonton wrappings and nothing else. The Tom yum soup had lots of vegetables and mushrooms in it but had the overwhelming taste of lime which made the soup almost unbearable to me. I understand it’s supposed to be a tart and spicy soup but it seemed to be all tart and nothing else. Our main courses didn’t seem to make the dishes any better and just seemed to make things worst. The chicken ruby is supposed to be a fascination combination of a whole Cornish hen stuffed with pork and shrimp. It Sounds delicious but very strange at the same time. The hen was perfectly cooked and had the texture and flakiness of a chicken katsu. But the pork and shrimp stuffing was the consistency of mush. It seemed to be a great idea that just never came out correctly. The only benefits of eating here are the huge portions. You will definitely have lots of leftovers eating here and the customer service is great. The staff are very professional and aware of the needs of the customers. Ultimately, I’ll be willing to try this place again to make sure I didn’t come on a bad day. I assume there top ratings are there for a reason and I’ll be there in hopes that my mind will be blown away with there other dishes.

This isn’t the best Thai food I’ve had, but I really only come for the rice plates. I always go for S-1 which is half of their house special chicken with shrimp fried rice for only $ 9.50. Sometimes certain parts of the chicken can be more dry than the others, but their house special sauce which is basically sweet and sour sauce really fixes that. The shrimp fried rice is really just their normal fried rice with 2 pieces of shrimp, but still tasty. I’ve had other items on the menu when I’ve gone with my family, but it’s nothing memorable. But the portions are huge, the food is decently good and the price is pretty cheap for a dinner plate. The service is nothing notable either, they’ll take your order, bring your food and let you be after that other than offering water refills. The place itself is a little dated with old furniture, old school artwork on the walls and a big ol fish tank in the front. Everything is pretty much so-so, but for a quick rice + meat fix this is a good spot. It’s also good for takeout, but I would call ahead to put in my order.

I have a lot of friends rave about this place so I had to check them out. I think they’re affiliated with the LA «Original Thai BBQ». Not sure. But they do look alike. Anyway, I came here one night with a huge craving for Thai Food. Fortunately, this place was pretty good. Clean, reasonably priced, & service was great. What I Ordered: — Papaya Salad: Light and citrusy. Good portion and lots of color. I’m still a little for fond of the Vietnamese style but glad I tried it. — Pad Thai: Pretty good. Nice texture, good amount of protein, & had great flavor. I’m more of a Pad See Eew kinda guy but this was delicious. A little tart though for my taste. — Panang Curry with Beef: So delicious! One of the best panang curries I’ve had. The beef was so tender and the flavor from the broth was just perfect. I love how they actually use the rind of Kaffir Limes to impart the traditional aroma to the dish. Very well executed. Highly recommended. Overall, I definitely will come back. I want to try the other noodle dishes & the larb. Can’t wait for my next visit. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Good food and excellent service.
