While waiting for friends to arrive at SFO, we stopped for a quick dinner. We split a house salad and eggplant parmesan. Service was prompt and very accommodating since we didn’t have all evening to enjoy our meal. The pizza bread was not warm and our eggplant needed reheating as it was also on the cool side. Once brought up to temperature, it was very good. Atmosphere is old time Italian and caters to an older established crowd. We noticed the staff took extra time to make sure everyone was happy with their tables. Two stars for price is about right.

I’d go back again — to that juicy new york steak and that mousse cake and that ravens red wine! Oh, not to forget the lavazza coffee, you can order an espresso too. Yum and fun dinner tonight!

Bertolucci’s is as good of an Italian restaurant as you will find. The food is amazing, the staff attentive, and prices reasonable. My go to is the chicken parmigiana and the polenta… oh boy is it delicious. This is my new go-to spot anytime I want quality food and a good night out. Highly recommended!

I had a terrible experience here while on vacation with my family. The bearded thirty year old hipster waiter named Dakota was suffering from some emotional problems I guess. From refusing to answer my father’s questions about the menu to violently slamming down a pitcher of water after my mother asked for a refill. The food most importantly was disgusting.

1960, where ya been girl? I mean, I know you are one of the hottest gals in history, but I didn’t know you were still trolling. So glad we finally got a chance to meet. Walking inside is a blast from the past indeed. The space is dark and spacious. The vibe is a little on the elderly side, but that was expected considering the vibe in that town and we showed up at 6. Our waiter, Anthony, was a gem. Clearly he’s the star of the wait staff and it shows. He is friendly, smiling often and very helpful for all the guests. He clearly has an extra pep in the step and has perfected an extremely difficult component of the waitstaff game. He shows up often, but not too often. He asks questions, but gives the customer a chance to eat as opposed to chatting while eating. Menu is large and portion sizes are hefty. Chicken Parmesan was pretty good, but clunky as well. I’m confident they want to adapt to the younger folks who spend more time eating put than our folks do, but they haven’t. Not sure I see a return trip in our future, but I’d give them a shot if you are in SSF.

Pros: — Osso buco slid right off the bone and tasted superb! — Classy, comfortable interior — Fried calamari had great texture; crispy breading, tender squid bits Cons: — Salmon was little plain/underseasoned — Polenta was uncharacteristically sweet — Kind of a long wait between appetizers and entrees. We had bruschetta as well, which was a underwhelming at first but then I remembered after the fact that tomatoes aren’t even in season right now so what can you do. We had a great time overall, and even the soups, salads, and veggies had some delightful nuance to them. Service was also very pleasant. Main downside is that it’s almost as expensive as Fattoria E Mare in Burlingame(my personal favorite) but not nearly as good. Unsure if I’d go back, but I was definitely glad I got try this place.

If you’re seeking old-school, fresh Italian cuisine, this is the place. House-made pasta, layered delicious sauces, excellent bread… and the décor is suitably fun and(again) old-school. The service is good, but harried and it can be hard to get the wait-staff’s attention, which is why this isn’t a five star review. They could use a bit more coordination and support with the service. Overall, though, a classic and a fun night out.

Service was awesome and the food was great. Really recommend the Veal Parmesan. The home made canoli were definitely something you should try.

We came here on a Wednesday night when I was craving some pasta. As soon as we pulled up, I got a very Reno-esque feeling– probably thanks to the giant sign on their roof. My first thought upon entering was, «Yup, definitely feels like Reno.» Maybe it was the lighting and/or the amount of elderly people eating there, but this place was poppin’ for a Wednesday night! Once you walk into the dining area, you’ll notice how huge this place really is. Apparently there are also rooms out back for private parties I’m guessing. I thought the décor was really interesting and fun to look at while waiting for our food. The service was good, the wait staff really polite and attentive. My boyfriend and I both agreed that the food was very average. We ordered: — Free bread: Half regular bread, half pizza bread. It was tasty, but wish it was warmer — Minestrone soup: Packed with vegetables, but mostly celery — Lasagna: Tasted a bit like Chef Boyardee, I probably wouldn’t get it again — Veal Saltimbocc: BF thought it was okay. He liked the polenta the most I have a feeling I won’t be back any time soon.

This was my first time coming here. I came here with 2 other of my friends, one who had come here a couple times before. She recommended this place because she claimed it was very tasty. She was right! The service was very nice as well. We had a reservation around 8 but we had called to disclaim we were going to be late. We had called the restaurant and they mentioned that the kitchen closes at 8:45 which was very convenient for us. I ordered the pepper steak. The food didn’t take too long to make and they had brought us bread. Afterwards, they had offered to pack the food for us. All in all everything was pleasant and delicious!

This place is definitely okay. If you’re craving Italian and are in the area, definitely stop by but be prepared for a long wait as it gets very packed. It appeared that the locals knew one another and a great place for bigger parties. The food however, was a bit lacking in flavor. I’ve definitely experience a lot better Italian food hence the three stars.

Still one of my favorite restaurants but went on a crowded Friday night, the service was slow & the steamers I got had almost no flavor, not even the broth. I was entertaining my parents for my mother’s birthday & I wanted to impress. I feel like they left feeling lackluster. Especially after our waitress gave us the ‘birthday sundae’ which wasn’t much and it had no candle. :( Just wanted to post to give the establishment a heads up because I do love this place & wish it the best success!

Went here for Thanksgiving. We were a group of ~20 and we were seated in the back room. From the outside, this place is not much to look at. When we entered it had a real old school vibe. We started off at the bar where there were two bartenders taking our drink orders. They were great! Took our orders and had the drinks ready quickly. We then moved into their back room where there was another large party seated. Some of us brought our own bottles of wine, which they opened and served promptly. A focaccia bread, which everyone seemed to love was served before the meal. Our party ordered a range of items some ordered the turkey dinner special, a few had steaks, a couple had fish and the rest had pasta. Most of the dinners come with a soup or salad. Everything was excellent and no one complained about their meal. Service was great and the staff was friendly and attentive. Would like to come back with a smaller group and sit in the main dining room to get the traditional experience.

We came here for my sister’s bday. There were 10 of us, including 3 young kids. Let’s start with the ambiance. I loved the feel of the place. It felt like an old school Mafia hangout; like out of a movie. It didn’t feel contrived, like a Buca Di Beppo. The service was very good. Our waitress was very attentive with refills and such. We ordered 2 personal Caesar salads to share, and she made sure to really provide extra helpings. She also packed our leftovers which was a nice touch. Now the food. Oh the food. I’m sorry to say it was just okay. Not horrible, but definitely not quite to my, not my party’s expectations. If I compare to some big chains like Magiano’s, Buca, Olive Garden, it would fall last on my list. Most at the table would agree. We ordered tons of food, so we had a lot of food to compare with. Let’s go over some of the items… Sausage/pepperoni pizza: felt a little overcooked. The pepperoni’s were literally singed. Clam/Garlic pizza: pretty salty. This came out with the appetizers and felt a little undercooked. Crust was a bit doughy. Petrale Sole: not bad, but sister and I felt it was a bit bland, like it was missing something. For $ 23 I was expecting much more. New York Steak: daughter ordered medium, and it came out well done, and tough. Wouldn’t order steak here. Chicken Parmigiana: daughter likes Buca’s much better. She said it was a little soggy. Penne Gamberi: again, bland. I ate the leftovers the next day, and really thought it needed salt and other spices. Osso Buco: veal shank. My brother-in-law had this. Now this was awesome! Best dish on the table. I had a chance to sample, and we both agreed it was ! Summary, ambience cool, service very good, food was just okay(except Osso Buco), prices were a bit high. Bertolucci’s is a Landmark, so come out and try it to decide for yourself. Maybe the cook was just having an off night. If anything have a few drinks and appetizers and just enjoy the ambience.

Excellent! Old school, family, friendly, attentive, bustling and yummy. I would say this place deserves a visit and was a perfect fit for a group travelling to SF for the week. Generous portions and they rock spumoni as a dessert option too!

I have not been here in over 10 years. Came in for a birthday dinner recently. The staff was extremely friendly and well accommodating. The bread that comes out first is very good and filling. The food was very good as well and top it off with a nice old school ambiance this place is great. Our Order: fried calamari, baked polenta, muscle and clam steamer. All very good the steamer was the best the broth is a must to dip your bread. Entrees: cannelloni was amazing. ossobuco was great, veal parm was very good, petrale sole was dipped in a bit too much egg when fried but it was still tasty. Over all our experience was great and I highly recommend this god old family style authentic Italian restaurant.

Such an interesting restaurant! It feels like an old school restaurant just by the look, the feel and the service. They’re friendly and have really solid eats! It’s easy to spot by the gigantic neon BERTOLUCCI’S sign high above the restaurant. They’re moderately priced and the quantities are sizable, but not overwhelming. I got the salmon dish with garlic veggies(zucchini and squash), which was very well done. The salmon was cooked nicely and seasoned like they’ve been doing this for a long time! The veggies were a great surprise. Not a plate-filler, but very flavorful and not cooked to mush! The dish also comes with polenta, which tasted good and was a bit more on the lumpy side. The chicken parm here has a lot of flavor and also comes w/the veggies and polenta. Both of these are definitely worth a shot and I hope to come back soon! The total bill came out to about $ 60 after tax/tip, so be prepared to open up your wallet a bit.

After 25 years of having first noticed the Bertolucci sign from the 101 freeway when I used to work near SFO and Unilocaling for a sit down restaurant in the area to catch up with friends, we decided to dine here for dinner. Happy and surprised are adjectives that best describe as I learned that the owner previously owned the Golden Boy Pizza restaurant in North Beach which I am a huge fan when I am in the area. Sine we arrived shortly after they opened for dinner, parking was not an issue as they have a parking lot. Upon entering, the atmosphere can best be described as an old style Italian restaurant theme complete with an Adonis male statue with a six pack abs and other Italian related decorations. Okay, but I was searching for the matching female statue which if it was there, I missed. Booths and tables along with a bar and back room for hosting large groups in which a tour bus of passengers stopped here while we were dining make up the restaurant. Haley our server, introduced herself and after learning our party was catching up with the latest news, provided us with water and their signature sourdough and focaccia bread which came out nice and warm which was a nice touch as I like warm bread with an Italian meal. Since we were in the mood for some bubbly and not wanting local, we ordered a bottle of their Italian Prosecco which she recommended. We all ordered different dishes in which portions were hearty: Linguine and clams in white wine sauce which my friend stated that the pasta was slightly over cooked but otherwise very good. Tortellini carbonara with mushrooms and pancetta. When asking our server her opinion on this entrée she said it was good but very filling and indeed it was. I had this dish and it was very heavy in the sauce and I am sure that with the bubbly Prosecco that added to being stuffed and ended up bringing the remaining home afterward. I felt that the kitchen was slightly heavy hand on the oil but that did not deter me from eating the leftovers the next day. The final entrée was one of their two specials for that night in which the stuffed meat item(could not remember what meat) with polenta and pan roasted veggies. Out of the three, this was probably the best and probably should have chosen this one. In closing, four stars for this dining experience, with minor disappointments on the kitchen being out of tiramisu as well as the overcooked pasta(I mean come on, we arrived at 5:30 pm and out of this Italian staple so early in the evening? But at least they served Lavazza coffee which in my opinion is a great Italian coffee. I will definitely come back here again when yearning for Italian food.

After a harrowing drive through down town/tourist area of San Franscisco, the likes that I will Never personally do again, we were hungry. After all, we’d been flying all day. We needed to stop for food as we were getting HANGRY. I saw the sign for Bertolucci’s off the side of the road and made for it. We found a parking lot and pulled in. After feeding the meter, we realized we didn’t need to pay. That was fine, it was only a buck. We walked the block and walked inside, No reservation needed, our wait time was 20 minutes — really a bit less. So we sat at the bar, where we bought drinks. which were poured REALLY Heavy. I asked for a rum and diet and what I got was A LOT Of rum, and just a hint of diet. WOW. Two drinks, $ 12 not bad. The food. the served us bread, both focaccia and sour dough, and it was divine. It could have been we were just starved, but we all devoured it. When we ordered: The husbeast ordered a pan pizza, our friend ordered linguini and clams and I ordered my standard Chicken Parmesan. We started with a caprese salad, which was delicious. When the food came, I was kind of confused, I didn’t know it would be served with polenta, but MAN! That was tasty! The chicken parm was very good. The sauce was perfection and the veggies that came with were superb. The husband realy liked his pizza but it was TOO much for him, and our friend was served a HUGE bowl of clams and linguini, he managed to fish out the«Expensive» parts, but left the pasta behind. The food was good, the service was all right. If we’re back that way, we might stop back by.
