I was very surprised to read the reviews posted here on Unilocal.I’ve had several occasions to use Castle Heating and Air over the last couple of years. They have been absolutely great! Very responsive. We’re in the process of selling a home that we’ve kept vacant for the last five years. I had Castle come out to install a new propane water heater and tune up our heat pump(which is about 15-years old.) Water heater install went off without a hitch and they did a great job with the heat pump tune-up. About a week later the heat pump seemed stuck in heating cycle. Called Castle and they sent out Matt who quickly solved the problem and I was told that since the problem occurred so close to their heat pump inspection and tune up… there would be no charge for their second visit… including the cost of the part Matt had to replace. I month or so later… we got an offer on our house, and the day before the buyer’s home inspection, I dropped by the house to do a last minute check. When I walked in it was uncomfortably warm. I checked things and discovered the heat pump was not working and it was a 90 degree day. I freaked out and called Castle. I explained my last minute situation, and even though they had a full schedule that day, they sent out C.J.(great guy by the way). C.J. arrived within the hour and quickly identified that the heat pump blew a capacitor. Remember, the heat pump is 15-years old. C.J. installed a new capacitor and told me it was such a minor repair there would be no charge. Who does that these days? Well, Castle Heating did and I will forever be a loyal customer.

I should have known going with the cheapest quote wasn’t the smartest idea. I decided to use Castle to install a Carrier A/C unit. On the day of the installation, one guy showed up, late, for a two man job. We then had to wait for his boss to come over and help him lift the unit to the installation spot. The boss left and the tech seemingly was having problems getting it to work but after a couple hours, the unit was on and he left. By that night, we knew something wasn’t right. The house wasn’t getting any cooler yet the unit was running non-stop. Unfortunately, it was Friday night. On Monday morning I called and talked to the owner, letting him know the house was getting no cooler, and wasn’t it strange the temperature couldn’t get below 75? I was told, oh, you’d be lucky to get under 75 degrees, that is really cold. Despite that answer, we knew that at the very least, the unit shouldn’t be running every minute of the day, so we tried to turn it off at the thermostat. It wouldn’t turn off. We then tried turning it off by pulling the fuse. Again, it wouldn’t turn off. So we had a more handy friend come over and he found that the entire system was covered in ice and the fuse box hadn’t actually been wired, a serious fire hazard. So Castle sent a new tech. He confirmed the fuse box wasn’t wired and that something had been jammed into the unit to make it run artificially. Finally, someone who knew what they were doing! 4 hours later he left and we realized the house was now being pumped full of hot air. And the unit again wouldn’t turn off. Onto technician number 3 a few days later. After two days of work, he was finally able to get the unit to work properly. The system seems to be running fine now and it has been a couple months, but I would never recommend using Castle. The owner never apologized for their negligence, their techs were late every single time and showed up absolutely filthy and obviously, they just don’t seem to know what they’re doing. A quote that’s a few hundred dollars cheaper is not worth the frustration and time wasted.

I had the exact same experience as the other reviewer(Matt E). Don’t use this company. They don’t stand behind their work. They installed a water boiler that serves as my hot water source for the house as well as for the radiant heat floors. It’s never worked properly. They keep sending out the same arrogant service tech who tells me there is nothing wrong with the system. There are multiple issues with it. His solution was to crank up the hot water temperature to the point where someone could get scalded. Do yourself a favor and find another company to work with. This one doesn’t stand behind their work or the products that they sell.

This company installed a new furnace and heat pump in my house 3yrs ago and we have had nothing but problems with the system. The installation itself was poor quality. I made numerous attempts to talk to the owner regarding issues of the service and unit without any success. I filed a complaint with the BBB, still nothing resolved. I have since then put $ 1200 into fixing the unit that is only 3yrs old. I dont want anyone else to be put in this situation with this company. I feel a company should be responsible for their work and this one is definatly not.
